Nerves were rampant under her skin as Avori made her way to the meeting point— she’d been looking forward to seeing Dalton again, though now all she was could be defined as a flustered wreck. The sun was beginning to wane under the horizon, the night sky peeking through, beginning its overtaking of the day. She had been rather frustrated before she’d left her home; she couldn’t decide on an outfit, or a hairstyle, or any sort of makeup— she was caught up in how she would look for him, and even though Anemoi chastised her for being so caught up in the superficial part of how people view her, she didn’t want it to come off as though she didn’t care for the date. [break] As the thought of it being a date brushed her mind again, Avori flushed slightly, a small smile appearing on her face. She’d definitely dressed for the occasion, though not in a way that was too much, considering what they’d be doing. While normally she’d wear heels on a date— especially with someone who was taller than she was— she decided against it for the sheer fact that they’d be walking the whole time, save for dinner. Instead, she was wearing flat-footed, obsidian, knee length velvet boots and a simple, beige dress hitting just above her mid-thigh. Luckily the weather was in her favor, and it wasn’t cold out, so she didn’t need anything to cover up— hopefully, it’d stay that way; as for her hair, she’d simply curled her short, white-blond locks to frame her face nicely. [break] You do realize you didn’t have to go to these lengths just to impress him? Anemoi sung into her mind, having materialized, though was careful not to sit on her— she’d for sure admonish him if he dared, so he merely hovered beside her as she advanced. [break] I’m not… trying to impress him, per se. I just want to look nice! It’s our first date, I can’t be looking a mess, Avori explained with a slow, steadying exhale to calm herself. [break] Well, I suppose that’s decent reasoning. At least you didn’t go overboard; you look nice, Avi. [break] Avori threw her familiar a smile at the compliment, eyes crinkling a bit. Why thank you, Ane. What a charmer you are. [break] Anemoi let out a chirp that sounded more like a laugh; It’s all natural. [break] Finally, the pair slowed to a stop, and Avori looked around anxiously. [break] What if he doesn’t show up? Oh no… [break] Avori, you are ten minutes early. He’ll come; trust me.
Nervousness was beginning to just become Dalton's default emotion at this rate. First he was nervous over getting his first official mission, now he was worried about how his first date would go. There were so many different outcomes that played in his head and they all seemed kinda bad, apparently optimism wasn't a strong suit of his at the moment. Luckily though it was always a strong suit of a certain dog with snow white fur. [break][break]
As Dalton rummaged around literally inside of his closet, with the door shut behind him, his familiar bounced up and down on his bed as she waited for him to come back out of the closet. He was having major problems trying to pick out something to wear for this date and called upon his familiar to give him some fashion advice. Which was truly the calling familiars were here to answer of course. After a few minutes of rummaging around in the closet Dalton would step back out, wearing what was his best attempt at dressing up that wasn't just throwing on his one and only suit. [break][break]
Wearing a plain white shirt underneath a black and blue sweater Dalton groaned and turned around a few times in front of his familiar. Smoothing out the black pants that he was wearing after a few turns. "Is this good enough Snowy? Do you think she'll be okay with it??? I mean I want to impress her but I don't wanna just wear too much and look out of place!" He rambled out as a hand reached up to scratch at the back of his head, even more obviously nervous now. [break][break]
"Yes Dalton for the third time those clothes are fine, this isn't the first time you tried those ones on. Now hurry up before you're late!" The familiar barked out loud to Dalton, hopping off of the bed and heading right on out the open door of his room with or without him. She knew that just leaving was a decent way to get Dalton to come along. And just as she expected it had worked, making sure he had everything in his pockets Dalton followed behind his familiar, desiring to get there early for once. [break][break]
The boy guessed that Avori would of shown up a bit earlier then their scheduled time to meet up since she was early to the mission, so he had tried to get there a few minutes ahead of time on his own. He wanted to surprise her by being there before she was, but yet even with showing up a whole five minutes early Dalton was able to see Avori already waiting on him. Chewing on his lip a bit he shook his head before heading over to where she waited, Snowy trailing along behind him as he walked. [break][break]
As he approached his date Dalton would blink a couple of times, her appearance catching him completely off guard. Sure he thought she was cute before but with the way she was dressed up for the date, and with her hair curled she was completely stunning. "H-hey Avori..You look...wow you look amazing." He rambled out pretty nervously, his cheeks already reddening slightly.
While Avori waited, her eyes roamed over the bustling crowd; it was the weekend, and considering all of the options the residential area held to do, it was to be expected that there would be activity that surpassed the usual, though she didn’t mind; it was a good distraction to lessen the pressure in her chest and the thoughts running rampant through her mind. [break] You’re giving me a headache with how worried you are, calm down Avori, this isn’t the first ever date you’ve been on, Anemoi’s sing-song voice chimed in, the kingfisher floating in front of her face then to purposefully catch her attention. [break] Avori tsked, brows furrowing, though it was unclear whether it was through frustration or nerves. I know, but I haven’t been on one in a while. What if I embarrass myself? [break] I won’t let you. [break] Anemoi flew off then, using his wings instead of the air to do so, perching himself on a nearby roof in order to survey the crowd and see if he could spot Dalton. [break] What are you doing? [break] Looking out for him so you don’t have a heart attack once you see him. [break] Avori didn’t answer, though she blushed slightly; she supposed the bird was right, it was best to have even a moment’s notice. [break] She was about to say something to Anemoi again before he gave her the warning call: He’s coming; to your right, you should be able to see him in a second. He’s wearing a black and blue sweater and— oh, it looks like he brought his familiar, too! [break] Avori’s breath caught in her throat, finally turning her head to look at him, a beaming smile overtaking her once he neared her; he looked very nice; in Avori’s eyes, he kept getting cuter and cuter every time she saw him… even though this was only the second, but she was certain of it. [break] She blushed when he complimented her, not even noticing that Anemoi had maneuvered back down and was hovering just above Avori’s head. Told you. [break] Avori ignored him, instead taking in Dalton himself before meeting his eyes again. “Thank you,” she murmured, still smiling, though it was sweet now; she didn’t want to seem overly excited, like a little girl in a candy shop, even though her heart was beating wildly in her chest. “You look really good yourself,” she returned easily, genuinely, and was about to say more until her eyes turned to the dog beside him— [break] “And you must be Snowy!” she said cheerfully, eyes glowing as they settled upon her. “I’ve heard a lot about you,” she continued with a playful wink, throwing a mischievous glance toward her owner. [break] Anemoi himself grew rather excited, moving to circle the canine before stopping right in front of her face, chirping happily. “Hello! I’m Anemoi; it’s always nice to meet other familiars— oh, and it’s great to see you again, Dalton,” the kingfisher sang, turning his head for a moment to regard the man before turning back to Snowy. [break] Avori laughed at her familiar’s actions, tutting quietly before she turned her attention back to her date. “Best to get going now, yeah? There’s a good restaurant here— The Pink Cauldron— that we can go to, if you’d like.”

It took Dalton a little bit of time to actually manage to say something else to Avori after she finished talking. He was just so caught off guard by her appearance, he was literally speechless. Reddening a bit more while he just stared at her like an idiot Snowy would clear her throat before stepping out from behind him, just planning to introduce herself since the cat had Dalton's tongue. [break][break]
For a moment the snow white african wild dog would look up at Avori and her familiar, going to say something that was no doubt wise and insightful. Only to end up not saying anything at the moment once the kingfisher began flying in circles around her, which in turn caused Snowy to chuckle at the other familiar's excitement. [break][break]
"It's nice to meet the both of you! Don't mind Dalton here, he's just thinking about...well do you want me to tell them Dalton or should I?" The dog chimed out with a smirk on her face, glancing back to her partner with her tail wagging. She was a pretty smart dog after all, she knew that just saying that should of snapped Dalton out of it. [break][break]
Which it actually did... Shaking his head for just a moment Dalton would look around the area for a moment before clearing his own throat. "N-no its nothing, I just...well I didn't expect you to look that good..But uhhh, Pink Cauldron huh? I've honestly never been there, lets go check it out though." The boy sort of rambled out with a smile on his face, a hand of course scratching at the back of his head before he switched the topic over to the place they were going to eat. [break][break]
Looking around once again to try to catch some glimpse of the restaurant Dalton would shrug his shoulders slightly before reaching over and taking her hand in his own. Giving her a quick and soft smile he'd nod his head before continuing to speak. "Not sure where it is though, do you wanna lead the way?"
Avori couldn’t help the giggle from leaving her mouth as he looked at her; her cheeks were flushed from how he was staring at her, a shy smile making its way onto her face. It did nothing to calm the rush she was feeling and the pounding in her chest— though luckily his familiar did step forward to make up for the small silence, as Avori had trouble coming up with what to say as well; she decided just then that Dalton was far too handsome for his own good. [break] You’re both so endeared, how sweet, he chimed in playfully, to try and lighten Avori’s nerves, before putting all of his attention back onto Snowy. [break] “Oh— I believe Avi here is in the same boat…” — Avori threw him a look of embarrassment — “Seems our witches are both rather speechless.” While Anemoi’s voice sounded serious, there was a hint of good-natured mischief held there, and he turned his head curiously as the canine teased her own owner into speaking. [break] Avori smiled, almost encouragingly, at him as he regained his bearings, though she herself was still a mess of nerves. “I- uh. I’m glad I surprised you?” she said with a nervous laugh, her blush growing stronger. “But yeah, the Cauldron is a pretty cool place— bit hipster, but it’s worth it anyway,” she said with an easy smile and an airy laugh, diverting her gaze in the direction she knew the restaurant to be in before looking back up at Dalton. [break] She honestly wasn’t expecting him to hold her hand— she was hoping he would, but she was too nervous to keep her hopes up for it. Once her hand wrapped around his, however, she seemed to calm down. [break] “Of course,” she said playfully, biting her lip for a moment before taking on a small, content smile. She dipped her head in the direction of the restaurant, and lightly — encouragingly — took a small pull of his hand as she started down the path; she was walking rather close to him, her arm brushing his, but she didn’t mind it at all; welcomed it, really. [break] “It’s really great to see you again,” she said, looking down at her feet for a moment as they walked before flitting her gaze back up. “I’ll admit, I’ve been looking forward to this.” [break] She looked around a bit, surveying their surroundings so that she didn’t miss where they were headed; it’d be rather embarrassing if she got them lost, after all. [break] “Oh! There it is,” she said finally, throwing him an pleased smile before moving toward the restaurant in question.
"See it'll be alright Dalton, just keep calm okay? Unless the restaurant burns down while you guys are in it I'm sure the dates gonna go off perfectly fine. Theres nothing to worry about.." The voice of the alchemist's familiar echoed into his head, glancing up at him from her spot next to his leg. It didn't take any knowledge of who Dalton was at all to tell just how nervous the boy was, it was plainly written on his face. Although it was for a good reason, just like with his first mission he didn't wanna do anything to mess up his first date. [break][break]
Especially considering who the date happened to be with. Sure he hadn't known Avori for too long as of yet but he still really liked her. Messing thing up with her was probably near the top of his greatest fears at the moment. [break][break]
Though the little bit of a pep talk from his familiar did seem to help him calm down just a bit. Reaching his free hand down Dalton would give the snow white dog a few quick pats on the head. Even as familiars dogs liked getting patted, well at least his did. "I-I mean surprises aren't really a bad thing. It was just..." He had to think for a moment on how to word things better as to not sound like a jerk on accident. "It was just more then I expected you know? I mean here I am with just a sweater on and you look good enough to make my jaw drop down to the floor." [break][break]
"I've been looking forward to it a bit too.." Dalton blurted out before Snowy quickly followed after him. "No he thought about it a lot, don't forget I'm in your head Dalton." The familiar chimed in out loud, just popping holes in how he tried to down play his excitement for a moment. "...Okaaay I was really looking forward to it, to be honest this is kind of my first date?" Despite already admitting to how much he had looked forward to their date he still wasn't really sure why he tried to downplay it at all in the first place. [break][break]
With a nod of his head once she pointed out the restaurant to him Dalton would flash her a smile back, making his way up to the door with her. "Its nice seeing you again too though, I missed ya." Once that was nonchalantly blurted out he'd open the door to the building for her, giving her a little playful bow. "After yoooou~"
Anemoi eventually hovered back over to his witch, still careful not to perch on her, though she did run her finger over his feathers to smooth them— and, admittedly, to soothe herself — causing him to emit a sort of hum from his throat. [break] Okay, I might let you onto my shoulder now but don’t mess up my hair, I almost burned myself eight times trying to do it, Avori communicated, knowing the kingfisher just wanted to be next to her. [break] She could feel how pleased he was at her words, planting himself onto her right shoulder and carefully moving her locks away from him by gently nudging them with his wing. I still don’t understand why you didn’t allow one of the handmaidens to curl your hair for you. [break] Ew, don’t call them handmaids. Seems so pretentious— [break] Your entire family is pretentious; too rich for their own good. [break] Yeah, whatever, but anyway, I just want to be able to do it on my own; I might as well learn the hard way. [break] Curiously, Avori could feel a sense of pride emanating from her familiar, before it dawned on her that he had been testing her; sneaky little bird, he was. [break] “That’s quite a compliment,” she breathed, almost a whisper, her cheeks flushing and her skin seemingly burning from it. She’d been told she was beautiful before— but it was different this time around, though she couldn’t pinpoint as to why that was. “But believe me, you would look handsome no matter what you wore— besides, I like that sweater on you,” she said, completely genuine, though her breath did quicken a bit; was she being too bold? [break] Go hard or go home I guess… [break] She could feel Anemoi’s amusement following the thought. [break] The breeze picked up slightly as they walked, ruffling Anemoi’s feathers a bit, though the two enjoyed the small shift of the wind; it brought about some semblance of fresh air, which was nice. Avori was slightly surprised, however, with Dalton’s response— or, more so, Snowy’s correction, to which she giggled. To be truthful, she didn’t think he’d have thought so much of it… and yet she was of the impression that she was alone in her excitement. [break] Avori’s eyes widened a bit as he said that this was his first date— Ever? [break] He’s way too cute to have not gone on a date before, no way... [break] Maybe he never found the right person to take out. [break] I doubt I’m the right person… [break] “You’re way too attractive for this to be your first but, I’m honored to be that person,” she murmured, admitted, a coy smile on her face as she looked at him, nudging him gently, playfully, with her hip, before looking back in front of her. [break] She bit her lip again when he admitted that he’d missed her once they’d gotten to the door, meeting his gaze; “I missed you, too,” she returned, smile returning once more. It was hard not to smile around him— there was just something about him that made it hard to resist. [break] She laughed at his little demonstration, giving him a small curtsy, “Why thank you,” she giggled before stepping in, waiting for him to follow and taking his hand back in hers. [break] “Table for two, please,” she asked of the host, and they led the pair to an empty table almost immediately— something which surprised Avori, considering how busy the restaurant usually was. To be fair, it was still filled, but she figured they had gotten lucky.
Pushing her head up against Dalton's hand one more time as he was jokingly bowing Snowy would slowly start to fade back out of existence. Deciding to just simply exist in the boy's mind for the time being. More then likely familiars were allowed in the restaurant but Snowy herself didn't really wanna cause any problems just in case. Plus a dog walking around definitely would of taken up more room then something like Avori's kingfisher. [break][break]
Though she'd probably be making another appearance later on Dalton's confidence was slowly but surely starting to grow as time went on. He might actually be able to keep his composure and not be super nervous at this point. [break][break]
"Weell its less of a compliment and more of just the truth. Liiiike on a scale of one to ten, I'd say you're about a twenty?" He chimed out with a sly but playful smirk on his face, before sending a quick wink her way as he followed her into the actual restaurant. Quietly waiting as his date requested a table for the two of them and they were escorted over to the table. [break][break]
He wanted to be kind of polite and not carry on a conversation while the server took them to a table. After all if they had something important to say or even just something to recommend they try out it would be rude to just talk over them. Once they were at the table however Dalton would pull one of the chairs out, gesturing for Avori to go ahead and sit down in it first. Waiting till she actually sat down to push the chair in for her. [break][break]
Shooting her another quick smile the boy would sit down across the table from her, glancing around the restaurant for a brief moment. It did seem pretty full, he was kind of surprised at how quick they were seated now. [break][break]
"Go ahead and get whateeeever you want, its all on me today!" Dalton said through a soft smile, holding one of the menus out to here.
Avori laughed again, nose scrunching a bit with it, looking at him with a more mischievous, flirty air, adopting a smirk. “That so?” she teased, batting her eyelashes before giggling again. “Good to know I’m such a catch— especially enough to get a solid thirty to go on a date with me,” she threw back at him without missing a beat before turning away and following the server, noting the sudden absence of his own familiar. [break] Don’t worry, Anemoi’s voice suddenly entered her mind. I’ll be out of your hair once the two of you sit down; or, well, at least in ‘person,’ the kingfisher thought, and she could feel the playfulness shining through— she’d made him promise to stay with her halfway so she wouldn’t make a total fool of herself without him there to stop her, so she understood his meaning rather clearly. [break] Avori smiled graciously once he pulled out a chair for her and, thinking quickly, she picked up a bit of air to form a step and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek — “Such a gentleman” she teased — before dispelling the trick and sitting down. Sometimes she hated how short she was, but surprising people with using air to her advantage was always fun for someone her size. [break] Avori slid one leg over the other as Dalton made his way to the other side and sat down in front of her, her peering at him with a small smile of her own. Before she could say anything, Anemoi interrupted her. [break] “I think this is where I leave the two of you,” the bird sang with a wink of his own before using his wings to fly off of Avori’s shoulder, dematerializing midair. [break] To be fair, Avori wasn’t quite accustomed to being paid for; quite the contrary, she was usually the one putting down gold, but she found it charming nonetheless, and she didn’t want to start a spectacle. It seemed he was playing all of his cards right— he truly was a good person. [break] Avori smiled, taking the menu he handed to her with a soft and sweet “Thank you,” setting it open upon the table; she decided to forego addressing the payment part, found it improper of her to do so, and instead trailed her eyes over what the place had to offer. [break] Once the waiter had come around to take their order, she let Dalton order first before relaying her own choice; once the waiter had jotted down what they’d said and taken their menus, Avori turned her attention fully upon Dalton. [break] Resting her forearm flat against the table, horizontal to her, and carrying her head with her other arm propped up on the elbow, she studied him for a moment with a soft smile. [break] “So,” she started, though she couldn’t help the smile turning to a smirk. “Tell me about yourself, handsome.” She said the last bit with a wink and a grin, though she certainly meant it.

A cat's eyes glint[break] 'What a wretched
on a high ledge.[break] day,' it remarks.
[attr="class","posth"]
The dark haired boy couldn't help but let a little laugh slip through his lips right after his date called him a solid thirty. For some reason he didn't expect the comeback from her, even though he probably should of expected it. Though of course now he just had to think of a way to top a thirty. Sure he could of just called her a forty, or even a fifty! But that wasn't really creative, it was just a higher number. [break][break]
With a slight shrug of his shoulders Dalton would smirk over at Avori before blurting out, "A thirty huh? Guess this sweater must be like...at least ten of that." Laughing once again Dalton shot a quick wink in her direction, thinking of something to say finally. "Well I guess thirties an okay number, still kind of hard to picture a thirty managing to get a date with someone that looks perfect but yet here we are." [break][break]
For at least a few moments Dalton thought he was just the smoothest guy in the world, and that nothing could possibly top that. But then Avori was..making a step out of air? It was definitely some use of her air familiar magic. The boy was just about to start rambling about how cool that was when she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek; which immediately just cut off whatever he was about to say as he went from looking normal to turning as red as he possibly could. [break][break]
"O-oh" He murmured out as he stood there next to their table while blushing, being so caught of guard by the little kiss on his cheek that he forgot to sit down for a brief moment. Still super red Dalton would slip into his seat and immediately grab one of the menus from the table to look through, using it to hide his face until the reddening went down somewhat. [break][break]
Once the waiter came by and the two of them ordered their food Dalton would of unfortunately had to hand the menu over to their server. No longer having something physical to hide his blushing the boy would just have to deal with it, the reddening having gone down a good amount since he sat down however it was definitely still there. [break][break]
Leaning forward on the table a little bit just to get more comfortable the boy gave Avori a quick nod of his head, smiling over at her. "Well..umm.." He paused for a moment, trying to think about what to say in response to her saying to tell her about himself. It wasn't really a hard question, he was just trying to remember what he told her back during the mission so he didn't end up repeating things. [break][break]
"Well you know I'm an alchemist, grew up in the shop my parents ran where they sold things that they whipped up for people. Don't really wanna take the shop over when they retire or anything like that though..I think my youngest sister wants to though. So I wouldn't wanna just steal the whole shop away from her."
“The sweater certainly does help,” she remarked, eyes running over his outfit once more. “But you’d be a thirty with or without it; and that’s just at minimum,” she giggled, nudging his side with her hip again. She blushed, however, when he said she looked perfect, and simply smiled, a bit bashful. [break] “Perfect, well…” she murmured, cheeks still flushed, evident that it had caught her off guard. “I wouldn’t say I’m anywhere near that, but I guess this means we’re both lucky, yeah?” she said finally, recollecting herself, tone cheery. [break] Avori couldn’t help how endeared she was at Dalton’s reaction to her kissing him— he seemed frozen for a moment, and she couldn’t help the quickening of her breath at the fact that she’d elicited such a reaction from him. He himself was growing red, before he finally moved and hurriedly hid himself behind a menu, Avori unable to tear her gaze from him for a beat before returning to her own menu, beaming. [break] “A gentleman always deserves a kiss, doesn’t he?” she murmured playfully, once the waiter took their menus away, peering at him through half-lidded eyes, an almost smug smile turning her lips. [break] You’re certainly turning up your flirting. Anemoi’s disembodied voice struck her a bit off guard, though she didn’t show it; she could feel him in her mind, even though he was not in the same realm. [break] I couldn’t resist. [break] Avori listened intently to him, a soft look to her as she did, eyes locked on him as he spoke— taking him in, really, as though she couldn’t get enough from looking at him. Her brows rose slightly at his words, before she finally spoke up. [break] “Ooh… a sister? Or two, considering you said ‘youngest’… I’m an only child myself,” she commented with a good-natured air. “What are they like?” [break] She didn’t fail to notice that his aspirations were beyond the shop, however. [break] Leaning her head a bit to the side, dropping her hand to tangle with the other resting against the table, she rolled her lips into her mouth. “What do you want to do then? Since you don’t really want to take over the shop.”
"I might just have to invest in a lot of sweaters then if they really help that much huh?" Dalton chuckled out as he looked down to take another look at his sweater, he didn't think it really looked that good, especially in comparison to what she had on; but hey as long as she liked it that was all that really mattered in the end. Although he did have to admit the sweater was a nice change from the tracksuits that he typically wore. [break][break]
Looking around the restaurant once again Dalton would bite his lip slightly, wondering how his food was coming along. It hadn't been too long since the they ordered but he was kinda interested in what the other people around them were eating. He was hoping he'd spot at least someone else with the same thing he ordered to sort of confirm that he made a decent choice. [break][break]
It did bring up another question however. "Hey.." Dalton sort of blurted out for a moment, still just blushing away, before whispering something out. "Do you think they make like..normal food or throw magic in too to make it taste better?" There was only a little part of him that was joking around about that, not that there was anything bad about them making the food taste better. [break][break]
It was just genuine curiosity. [break][break]
Raising an eyebrow up as Avori said that every gentleman deserved a kiss Dalton would smirk slightly, tilting his head a little bit. "Oh reeeally? If thats how it works then I might just have to be a gentleman all the time then~" He happily chimed out as he leaned back in his seat slightly, smiling over at her. [break][break]
"Yeeeep it's two. They're both pretty nice and alchemists too just like me. I think you'd get along with em if you got to meet them." Reaching a hand up to scratch at the back of his head as they sat there Dalton gave her another smile as the redness on his cheeks FINALLY died out. "So, hows being an only child? I always kinda wondered how that was..but uhhhh.." [break][break]
After saying that Dalton had to pause for a moment, trying to think of what exactly to say next. "I'm not sure what I want to do though..well at least I'm not sure about it yet."
“Pretty sure you’d look good in anything, Dalton,” Avori laughed, though the twinkle in her eye was proof enough that she meant it. She really was rather hungry, though — she’d been too nervous to eat a thing beforehand — and habitually tapped her nails against the table, biting her lip as she waited; a bit impatiently, even. [break] “If I’m being honest, I haven’t eaten a thing today because I’ve been so nervous,” she commented with a small shrug and a chuckle. “Good thing we’re having dinner first…” she trailed, letting her eyes wander to the kitchen doors almost longingly before she looked back at her date. [break] When Dalton whispered to her, Avori giggled at his words, eyes closing for a moment as she did before she leaned in a bit. “They totally use magic; it’s the secret to the business,” she said softly with a coy wink before leaning back to a normal sitting position. “How else would it get so popular, there’s gotta be some behind-the-scenes flair to it.” [break] “But, really, I couldn’t tell you— probably, though. I wouldn’t put it past them, or anyone, really.” [break] Avori looked at him with a mischievous smirk as he spoke the next bit; “Yes, really…” she hummed, leaning in again, though this time it was much less of a joking move and more of a flirty one. “I think it’ll be working in your favor if you keep it up,” she said lowly, almost boldly, with a soft, though still rather flirtatious smile. She truly did like teasing him— flirting with him— it was fun, and she liked him a lot, so why shouldn’t she be a bit bold and make it pretty clear that she was interested? [break] “I’d like to meet them someday,” she said with a grin, pulling back a bit. “It’s really kind of cool that so many of your family are alchemists. Mine is a mixed bag but we’re just… well known for our starcallers, since it’s so rare, but we have a gene for it I guess. Something like that. I’m the only starcaller currently, though,” she trailed off a bit at the end, eyes wandering somewhat before turning back to him. [break] “Oh, well, it’s just… a lot of pampering, really, especially with a family like mine. I don’t like talking about my family though, because a lot of people know the name and know the influence of the Lémieuxs” — she rolled her eyes at this — “so, to sum it up… let’s just say I come from money, and I was sort of treated like a trophy when I was younger. Sounds nice, but that sort of treatment really got to my head for a while…” [break] “But I’ve changed now, so that’s all that really matters,” she finished with an almost defeated sigh; she didn’t like revealing that much about her family but she wasn’t going to lie to him; he deserved more than a lie. [break] Avori nodded at his next words; “It’s tough… deciding what to do. I really don’t know myself; I guess I’ll just take over the ‘family business’ — meaning looking over investments and all of that, but I would rather have more control over my life than submitting to it,” she said with a shrug, smile dropping a bit before picking it back up once their food arrived.

Laughing along with her joke Dalton would shrug his shoulders, picking up one of the napkins off of their table to fidget around with. Just something random to keep his hands busy. "I'll have to put that to the test for our next date then. I'm just gonna find the absolute wooorst thing possible to wear and then show up in it." He blurted out with yet another laugh, shaking his head a little bit. "Nooo I won't do that, I gotta at least put in as much effort as you do." [break][break]
It did only seem fair to him that as long as she put effort into her appearance that he should too. After all they'd look pretty weird out in public if she was all dressed up again and he was wearing..a trash bag or something instead of actual clothes. "Just uhh do me a favor, next time don't be so nervous okay? Or worry about what you're gonna be wearing too much either, I think you'll look beautiful either way." He finished saying that with another soft smile sent her way. [break][break]
It was completely the truth of course. [break][break]
"Though I guess to be fair I should do the same thing huh? I mean all I ate today was a little bit of my breakfast but that was it." The boy rambled out with a chuckle, shaking his head ever so slightly. "Guess we were both pretty nervous then.." If it wasn't easy enough to tell from him admitting how nervous he had been Dalton was starting to get over it a bit by now. It seemed that the more time he spent around Avori the less nervous that he would be about being around her. [break][break]
Sending a smirk that matched her own mischievous one over at his date Dalton would stop fiddling around with a napkin, just leaving it in front of him for now. Raising an eyebrow slightly he'd chime in with a quick "I'll make sure to keep it up then for sure, gonna be the worlds greatest gentleman with that kinda prize." It made sense to flirt back with her at this point, he could tell that she at least liked him back a bit since she was here right now. Plus it seemed pretty fun. [break][break]
As she spoke about how being an only child was and how she was treated sort of like a trophy when she was younger Dalton would stay silent. Just taking in what she said and actually listening to what it was that she had to say. While he had thoughts that being an only child might of been pretty sweet, the situation that she described didn't really seem too 'sweet' at all. He honestly just kinda wanted to go across the table and give her a hug.[break][break]
"I'm sorry you got treated that way.." Dalton managed to blurt out quickly before she went on about not exactly knowing what she'd want to do either. And about how she'd rather have more control over her actual life then just submitting to it. Luckily Dalton had a few moments before the food was set down to actually say something to that. [break][break]
Reaching a hand across the table he'd rest it on top of hers, giving her a soft but genuine smile. "Well..since neither of us know what we really wanna do with our lives we can figure it out together alright?" However once the waiter actually came with the food he'd have to move his hand back to make room for them to sit down the food.
Avori let out a laugh; “I’ll be the judge of the worst thing ever— I’ve got an eye for fashion, obviously,” she chortled, eyes bright with amusement, her hand coming up to daintily play with her hair. She simply smiled at his following words, cheeks glowing peach for a moment before calming. [break] She watched him for a moment, her chest fluttering — next time — he said, and she felt a bit giddy. He wants a next time. [break] She grinned, bringing the hand she’d been toying her hair with to her temple and saluted him with a playful wink. “Will do,” she murmured, hand going back to her hair, tangling into her tresses a bit as she leaned her head into it, tilting it slightly. [break] She blushed when he said he’d think she’d look beautiful regardless, eyes looking away and her smile turning small and, really, flattered at the comment before she drew her gaze back to him. She didn’t know what to say, really— she was, admittedly, rather delighted that he thought that of her, though. [break] “Yeah… nerves, pff, who needs them— all they do is rattle us up,” she joked, though she was still smiling sweetly, a validation of his own feelings. She looked around the restaurant again, still itching for the meal to arrive. [break] “Yeah?” she teased, regarding him with an almost alluring look to her, hand twirling her hair again. “Can’t wait— I’m sure it’ll be worth your while.” With that, she leaned back into her normal sitting position, hand back down to rest against the other. She wet her lips a bit, simply looking at him for a bit before he spoke again. [break] “I’m sorry you got treated that way.” [break] Avori couldn’t help but wonder if being born in the lap of luxury and nobility was something to necessarily be sorry for; while she used to take these things for granted, now she cherished the privilege she had been granted in life, and did all she could to spread that advantage to others. [break] “Well,” she began, carefully, mulling over her words a bit before she continued. “I wouldn’t say it’s something to really be sorry for— I mean, I love my family, and they just wanted me to be happy but that sort of stuff really does build an ego that you… really don’t want to have.” Avori shrugged nonchalantly, words casual; she didn’t blame him for saying it was a bad thing, and she’d hate for him to think that, but she figured she ought to clear up that she didn’t hold resentment toward her family because of her upbringing. [break] Avori smiled, soft and delicate, when she felt Dalton’s hand reach out for hers, her own easily slotting into it after he’d set it on top, eyes now focused there. She liked holding his hand— it was calming, like an anchor almost, and she didn’t want to let go until their food came and she could finally answer what he’d said when he’d reached out to her. [break] “Yeah, I’d like that,” she breathed, cheeks mildly pink. “Together.”
