this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

HOW YOU USED TO KNOW ME
She slowed only for a moment to look over her shoulder, breaths laboured, to see if she was still being pursued. Although she saw no sign of the bullies, teenage-boys with sticks who made their mirth by degrading girls (apparently), that was little consolation. Korrine swiped her forearm over her eyes and took off running again, if her steady jog could be considered that. She had never been much of a runner, and this was pushing her to her limits after a long day of assisting in cleaning the guild hall.
Speaking of, how had she gotten so far out off route? She had been aiming to run back further into the city, but the pressure of being chased after had skewed her directional senses. Which was really quite sad. Sundial had been her home since birth and here she was getting lost like some--
"Loser" Era, her familiar, hissed at her from inside her head, with his squawkish voice, that bordered on nasal. He really should have manifested himself as a peacock, rather than a buzzard. It would have been more suiting to his personality. All the same, Era's words cut into her. She could never do anything without his oversight and the judgment which that entailed.
"It's harder to focus on things, when I'm scared."
"You're a witch, what have you got to be scared of?!"
As she turned a corner, her foot caught on a lose paving stone and she went sprawling on the ground. Korrine let out a loud yelp. Her knee was scratched up badly by the impact.
[attr="class","scrollz"]The pink haired fool found comfort in the outskirts of Sundial. The twilight zone that separated civilization from the wild. It was here that JP could relax. He pulled out his trust pipe; a small quartz and amethyst crystal pipe a friend had gifted him years ago. It, surprisingly, hadn’t broken despite the young man’s constant use. In an almost routine like movement he packed the bowl. Eyes cast out over the horizon of the afternoon sun, Pierre took in the sight as he inhaled the earthy smoke.
The hill he had chosen looked down over the valley like expanse of farmland and gave a postcard perfect view. The ripe summer crops seemed to shine in the afternoon and the various ponds looked like pools of gold in the amber light. Small specks of red and brown dotted the countryside with little lights glowing inside, letting all know that this land had yet to be successfully reclaimed by mother nature. Pierre enjoyed the treasured view as he took another hit from the pipe, smoke slowly rising overhead as he exhaled.
His tranquility was interrupted by a high pitched yelp from below him. Startled, he fumbled with the pipe sending it flying in the air — and just for a moment JP watched as it floated — before hurtling down to the ground below. “Fuck.” He mumbled before jumping out into the air himself. Hands wrapping around the still cherry red pipe, heat burning his palms, he felt as if warm hands were wrapping around him. He clenched his eyes, bracing for the impact of the (at least) fifteen foot fall but poof! He disappeared mid fall in a trail of pink smoke.
He reappeared a few feet above the ground in another bubble gum pink cloud of smoke before landing with an audible thump on his ass. Eyes clenched close from earlier he opened them, and looked around. He wasn’t dead or really injured at all, save for his hand. JP winced as he opened it, his palm already blistering from the burns but thankfully, the pipe remained intact. Pocketing said pipe, he looked up from his burned hand to find himself face to face with some girl.
“Uhh, sup.” JP said, standing as he did so and offered the girl his not burnt hand so she could get up. He hoped she didn’t notice the pipe. Or the fact his eyelids were so low they almost looked closed.

Sometimes strange things happened, and you just had to accept them, especially where magic was concerned. There was no time for furrowing your brows and whining in consternation about how nothing seemed to make sense, and how you wanted your Benben Bunny and your blanket. No. The time for that had passed years ago, when she had first began to see what magic was and what it could do...before being pushed to the realisation that she needed to grow up if she didn't want to be left behind. Still, magic in itself had been an odd and vague concept to begin with. You dealt in maybes and possible, barely tangible forces which only felt real for moments at a time. Korrine should have been used to the unexpected.
When the boy fell from seemingly no where, she sat jolt upright on her knees (wincing in the process).
"Where did you come from?" She squinted at him, puzzled, before taking the hand he offered her to aid her in standing. Korrine thought that she had seen him hide something behind himself, or in his pocket, but that didn't matter now. She wasn't in the habit of giving strangers the third degree.
"Thanks..." She uttered clearly once she was on her feet, daring to glance over her shoulder. In the near distance, she could hear the bullies' voices growing louder and clearer by the minute. Korrine didn't have time to waste here "Are you alright... um... I'm Korrine. I'd love to stay and chat but..." She gestured vaguely behind her, and swallowed nervously.
[attr="class","scrollz"]Her first question caught him off guard. Where had he come from? He slowly glanced up to the looming hill overhead and gulped, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he did so. He had really fallen that far… Magic was all so new to him. Even the most mundane applications fascinated and terrified him. How had he done that? One minute he was falling from the hill and the next — POOF! He was falling a few feet above the ground.
The girl’s voice brought him back to reality as she thanked him. That, and other voices. These weren’t the voices that plagued him at night (and more often not at night) but real voices. And they sounded angry. Although JP couldn’t make out exactly what they were saying it sounded threatening. They kept calling out a name too. “… I’m Korrine.” The girl, Korrine apparently, said. The same name the voices called out, taunting her almost.
Judging from the way she gestured behinds her and the nerves that seemed to be wracking her, JP made the obvious assumption that this soon to be had meeting was not a wanted one. “Huh. Well I’m JP, nice to meet ‘cha.” He said, his country drawl peeking through as he looked around for a possible escape route. His dark grey eyes scanned the area and, dissatisfied, he turned his attention back to Korrine. JP crossed his arms over his chest and asked, “So what’s the plan, Korrine? I’m all for running from problems but looks like this problem has caught up to ya’.” Even as he spoke, the constant pat-pat of the oncoming footsteps reinforced his point: whoever was coming for her was almost upon them.

She giggled nervously "Y-yeah. Nice to meet you too." Under usual circumstances she might have invited him to get tea at a cafe or something, to make up for his falling and their awkward meeting, but there was no time for that. She glanced around herself quickly, noticing that she had run into a dead end which had definitely had not been the plan but now she was stuck and why were her hands shaking? They were just bullies. What was the worst they could do? Threaten her and throw cruel words her way. That still sounded frightening to her. Korrine knew that she should have been braver but it really was difficult.
Looking back to JP, Korrine shrugged her shoulders meekly "My plan was running away, but there's no where left to run. I guess. I. I don't know. Maybe-- I. I'm not sure." She fumbled with her words, trying and failing to focus "Bribe them into l-leaving me alone. Or threaten to tell my friends about them." Sure it would probably make her look weak in the eyes of the Knights if she turned up whining about boo-boos, and she had always done her best to meet their expectations, but fear had turned her insides to jello.
[attr="class","scrollz"]JP felt a sharp pang of guilt as Korrine stuttered and stumbled over her words. He has been, and one could say is, in the same situation. Being so scared that you have to run. To get away no matter what. “…there’s no where left to run.” The words wracked JP. The pain, the fear, she felt was all to familiar. He gave the girl a remorseful look as she desperately thought of a plan. Mentally preparing for the confrontation she had probably long dreaded.
Regret and anger fueled JP as he said his idea, “Stop running.” He saw himself in the doe eyed girl and didn’t want her feel like she needed to flee from her problems. She could stand up to them, even if he didn’t. Do as I say not as I do and all that. “You don’t need to bribe anyone or tell your friends. We got this.” He said, sounding a lot more confident than he actually was. It must have been the weed talking. He figured these kids had to be around the same age as Korrine so like… fifteen? He never was good at telling someone’s age.
But what were they going to do? “We’ll… uh… talk to them?” He said, running a hand through his pink hair. Could he fight teenagers? Was that illegal?
