this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

Look at all these damn people. Who the hell allowed her to do this mission in the first place. In all honesty this was just something that was... well... not very well thought out. What were they going to do? The whole mission was to be in front of this place and attract customers to this festival. They wanted people to shop until they dropped.
She was here to draw crowds and the people who were requesting the mission didn't exactly specify at all. Like at all. She had no idea what to do at all. Well hopefully at least she'd have a couple or multiple mission partners in this and she could like play the triangle or something. Something!
She couldn't really sing well. Maybe backing vocals. She was a good dancer so maybe a background danger. She could also cook so they could do some kind of cooking demonstration. She had no idea. Maybe the people who were given more warning about this had some plans to do.
She waited near the building for the others to come. Come on somebody please come. Anybody please. There were plenty of people around so hopefully she wouldn't be alone for long. Let this come to pass on this weird festival day. They just needed to put on a show after all.
Raven is all set. White hair curled elegantly at the ends, face pampered with colors, lips cherry red, and Raven is all set. "It's a simple task, they should be honored," Raven scoffs at Dai. She refused to bring her team with her, they ought to be resting today anyway and spend it with their loved ones. As for Raven, she has refused all the boys that pursued her, and instead opted to work for the Valentines.
She does not fancy any of them. They are only there for her fame, money, and influence. As she looks into their eyes, hoping for at least a hint of love, she found none, only lust. And so Raven shoos them away. They'd only hinder the starcaller.
Dai is carrying her vanity kit and a small bag of wardrobe change. He looks like a pack mule, and he's used to it. He's the first one to see Raven's supposed partner, and the one to inform Raven that the girl is, well, not yet in for the show. Raising an eyebrow, Raven approaches the girl and examines her carefully. She puts both her hands on her hips and stares incredulously at the girl, crimson eyes wide and unbelieving.
"Excuse me," Raven huffs. "The show's about to start in an hour or so, and you're not yet ready?! Oh my God!"
They have no time to waste, either make it or break it. "Come with me, hurry up!" Dai leads the way inside the building, where they are met with staff, leading them to a studio. The room is well-lit, with a decent Raven sits down, pulls a chair with her, and patted it for the woman to sit. Dai puts the make-up kit down, which Raven opens to reveal hundreds of colors, a rich assortment of beauty products.
"Now, young lady," Raven says sternly. "Let's doll you up. No complaints!"

There was a girl with white hair who was all done up and crap so she was either some snobby rich girl who's daddy bought her career or her partner in this mission. Maybe both. She didn't really know since she was thrown into this mission when one of the original girl who was supposed to be in this was... well in a coma. Insert backstory that nobody really cares about and cue Siobhan being here clueless.
"What now?" she said confused. She was just told to show up here and look presentable. She was wearing minimal makeup because she always did and wore some black leggings and a kind of boho-esque top so it was easy to move in. She was pretty presentable for maybe a club so she assumed it was okay before she got here... it wasn't like she was in a ballgown or a suit at least.
The young witch was kind of 'suggested' to follow the other woman into the building. The place was like some kind of television set or giant studio of some sort. It didn't really match the old brick aesthetic that was going on with the building's exterior. Maybe it was just that hipster kind of thing that people in their twenties just seemed to love. Who knows.
There were a ton of people all around with brushes and clipboards. She was kind of at a loss on what she was supposed to be doing until directed to sit. There was a chair pulled up next to the silvery haired girl with some makeup in front of her. Well what was she supposed to do but sit. "Um.. okay but... like... what are we doing? I'm kind of just being... thrown into this..." she said with a confused look on her face. The fuck was going on?
"Well, what are you waiting for?" Raven says at the girl impatiently. She looks at her wristwatch--crap, they only have at least 45 minutes left. She is hoping the only thing she needs to do with her partner is agree on a simple performance routine, but oh no, she has to do this as well. Raven glares at the girl, then, taking note of her light make-up, colorful top, leggings, her hair, and her figure. She's presentable, that's a given, but only to the immediate person beside her. On stage, she wouldn't stand out, much less do her job properly.
Their job is to catch attention, and you simply can't do that by being casual.
Realizing she must do some convincing to get this woman comfortable in the seat, Raven opts for a more business-like position. She crosses her legs, and leans back until she's as comfortable as she'd be given time pressure.
"I'm Raven, and I'm going to be partner for today. What's your name?" the white-haired witch starts, slowly and casually. Dai stands at the side, watching. He's quite proud to see his witch not bust a vein at this clueless person. "As you already know we're supposed to perform at the town square to entertain shoppers and make them stay. There is already a crowd there, for sure, and the event has reaped its benefits from that waiting crowd. The only thing left to do is to make them stay some more."
Raven then points at the girl, in a somewhat conventional and acceptable manner. "Now you obviously came prepared... but unfortunately that preparation isn't enough. A simple look won't do the job. That eyeshadow won't be seen by those at the back, that leggings won't be noticeable at all. Your hair needs to be sprayed to stay in place, unless you're opting for a rock, heavy metal kind of music where you can just, bazinga anywhere. But you're not."
Ending her speech, Raven picks up a clean cloth and holds it out for the girl to reach. She hopes it would be enough to convince her to just get ready. "So now, would you let me prep your face? I'll see if we can grab you a change of clothes, too. Whichever you feels comfortable, though."

"So be like super extra? Like drag queen makeup or... like weird pop idol music video?" She was for sure confused on what she was supposed to do. The older woman was being rather short and seemed kind of annoyed that she had to do anything. It was kind of pissing her off. She could feel her hands grip the sides of her chair and she was thankful that her familiar was not out. More than likely she'd have melted part of the chair by accident with her magic. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
She just had to make it through this mission and this day. She could do a simple routine... maybe even a cover song if they really really made her sing. Heck she'd do stand up comedy if they needed her too. Just something... anything to get her out of this place and through this awful mission. This is why she never could be a famous idol or anything like that... it was just so... annoying.
"Siobhan. My name is Siobhan," she said with a calm tone. No maybe she should be more innocent? Maybe more peppy. Think pop idol... fake blonde and kind of sexual but not owning it. Someone who could appeal to kids but also dress a little slutty for the older teens but not enough to make the adults wary of her. She had to be like a doll... that's how all performers were.
"Honestly I was just going to braid it and put it up. I have some stuff in my bag for that..." she hummed, reaching for her purse. It was just a little pink thing that didn't hold that much... after all she didn't expect to need that much. She mostly just wanted her hair out of her face so she packed pins and such to keep it that way so her hair wasn't flying all over.
"Okay." was all the teen said as she took the cloth. She assumed she was supposed to just take off what little makeup she had on with it and it wasn't that hard. She only had on a bit of concealer, blush some gold eyeliner and a smidge of eyeshadow to match. It only took a few good wipes for her face to be completely makeup free. She was young after all she didn't really need to put much on. Can't cover up wrinkles if there were none after all!
Honestly? She's tired. Raven is exhausted from hearing this thing over and over again. How pop idols look so extra. Too much make up, or even as Siobhan puts it--drag queen make up. Raven chooses not to respond to that, instead just continuing her little speech to hopefully convince the black-haired woman to sit down and relax.
"Well, nice meeting you Siobhan," Raven says easily, cherry lips easing into a smile. She could see Siobhan's irritation fade as the girl controls herself. That's good. Raven might be a stuck-up bitch off stage, throwing tantrums here and there. On stage, however, she takes performing seriously. She puts on her best behavior and try to cooperate with everyone. That's why she is so sync with her team, why her performances are near flawless. She loves doing this--minus the stalkers, of course--and she is doing her best, all the time.
"All right, whatever you prefer." Soon Siobhan reaches for the cloth and wipes her light make up off. Meanwhile, Raven reaches for a clear glass container and puts a little bit of content on one hand. Then she beckons Siobhan forward. "I'll start soon. What look do you want to pull off? Maybe we should be contrasting? What do you think?"
If Siobhan permits it Raven would start putting on primer on the girl's face. If not, she would wipe the contents off. A waste, but she couldn't force her. Meanwhile she starts thinking of their routine. Multi-tasking is the key to survive a time constrained performance. "Can you sing? Maybe we can pull of a duo?"
Raven recalls several songs on her head, ranging from cheerful jam to melancholic melody. But before she could decide on anything she must hear Siobhan's input first.

The young girl grabbed something from her bag, trying to be somewhat still being in a seat by this point. She placed something in her mouth and tied her hair up into a ponytail for the time being. The thing her mouth was the band she used to tie her hair up while she pulled it all back into her hands. Soon she had her hair up kind of messily but this was more to just get ready than what she was going to actually do with her hair. She'd probably do that last so it didn't get messed up if she had to change or anything like that.
"Is ghost in the background an option?" she said with a calm tone missing a couple of beats before adding, "that was a joke. I didn't really have anything in mind to be honest. Whatever will be easiest for yall is fine with me." She was a much more simple girl when it came to any kind of performing. Her voice wasn't anywhere near powerful enough for that pop idol life but she at least could stay in tune and hit most notes. The magic of not being tone deaf.
"I can sing okay... but I wouldn't say I'm a singer. I've been in dance classes forever though but I'm just okay" she hummed as the other girl put primer on her face. She didn't seem to have a care in the world about the makeup that was going on her face. It wasn't about her it was all about the act. She was here to do her mission that was all. She just wished this had been a mission where she could punch stuff. She was good at that./font]
Raven actually cracks a smile at the joke. She knows that not everyone is comfortable with performing on stage. She is quite impressed that Siobhan took this mission, she seems like a brave girl. Raven pauses for a moment to let her tie her hair back, and in that time Raven fishes out more make-up from the kit.
While Raven does the rest of the make-up with quick, agile and accurate hands, she takes into consideration the routine. "How about two three songs together, then each of us put up a solo performance. Then we can sing again one last song before calling it a day." That seems reasonable enough to Raven. She keeps her eyes peeled for Siobhan's input.
"I can sing and dance as well. For the solo performance you can do anything you want, it's all up to you."
Ah, speaking of songs and dances! They still have to coordinate with the technical department! Those damn athenians are so grumpy, ugh, she hopes they wouldn't be too mad about the delay. If they see Raven, though, they might change their mind. Raven puts on a last dark shade of eyeshadow, and Siobhan's face is done, foundation, contour, highlights, lipstick, false eyelashes. Raven is pretty sure that this is the look Siobhan is opting for, though who knows, right? The starcaller does a little retouch, and then she's ready to go as well.
"Hm, what do you think about a change of outfit?" Raven inclines her head, eyeing Siobhan from head to toe, then she snaps her fingers as if, voila! "I think your top can pass but your leggings would have to go. We brought a couple of skirts and spanking jeans there." Raven gestures towards the regal familiar... looking like a pack mule with a saddle slung over his back. Dai huffs.

The young girl nodded at the idea. That was fine. She was okay at memorizing stuff so as long as it was stuff she'd at least heard before she'd probably be okay. A simple dance number would probably also work since they had little to no practice time before performing. Thank god she had at least some background to fall back on or she'd probably be screwed.
"Okie dokie" she said with a hum as she thought of what kind of songs they should sing. It'd have to be catchy and hopefully popular enough that most people would know it when they heard it. Something that wasn't vocally taxing though as she was not a trained vocalist she was... well like a youtube singer where sure she could sing okay but had little training.
"What songs are you thinking? Something upbeat maybe?" she suggested as the makeup was put on. It was only a few minutes before her face was put completely on. She scrunched her nose up when the eyelashes were put on. She wasn't that big a fan of fake eyelashes... they just felt weird and porn star like. She didn't know why but she just wasn't a fan. She'd deal with it though.
She didn't even think about the tech people through this whole thing. She just sat in her chair while things were being done. She wasn't really experienced in this world of entertainment so she didn't know what to expect. Well time to go with the flow. That was how she survived the orphanage after all.
The other girl retouches her face for a minute before she turns back at Siobhan. She needed to change part of her wardrobe at least. "I'm not much of a skirt girl... jeans sound good though. She was honest at least. Any pair of jeans she was given would promptly be put on. She didn't have that much of a choice after all. She was at the mercy of this mission.
Dai is glad to see Raven falling into rhythm again. The girl is a brat, but she isn't that bad, especially if it's with her passion. Dai notes Raven's easy movements, her words and her expression. Raven is at her best when performing. This is the side of his witch he adores the most. And so he will continue to support Raven. Time will come when she would be able to adjust to competitive witchcraft, and Dai will see through it. When he is mentioned, the deer folded his legs underneath him to let the girls get the bag.
Raven thinks for a minute, going through the many songs she knows and has sung. There are so many, Raven can't pinpoint what she particularly would fit this scenario... She narrows it down to catchy, pop, and romantic songs, down to girlish and cute. "Say I Love You, The Girl Dressed in Candy, and... Sugar Rush. Are you familiar with these? For the last part, hm, I'll leave it to you." Raven personally composed and sang Sugar Rush. It's painfully indulgent song, but really it's just about a girl falling in love with a boy, and to win his heart she starts to bake for him. The song is open-ended, which leaves most of her fans frustrated.
"For the solo part, I think I'll do a sing and dance routine," Raven says, not really directed to Siobhan. She already has a song in mind, Magic of Heartbreak. It's the one she has yet to show, but has practiced relatively well. The steps are simple enough to deal with.
She then goes to Dai, unzips the bag, and lays out several skirts and two skinny jeans from the bag. "Pick whatever you want. I think, as you get changed, I'll go to the tech department and inform them of our choices."
Raven looks at her wristwatch, then. About thirty minutes, and they'll be up there. Better get going!

The songs were decided. She'd at least heard of those songs though to be honest she'd only really listened to Say I Love You... the others were something she probably should go over the lyrics to once or twice before she performed them. She made a mental note to maybe ask someone for a copy later. That or just fake it and sing real quiet on the parts she didn't know. She could always do that.
"Okay? I think I can handle those songs." She wondered what she would do for the solo act. She could just dance or something but... that just didn't feel up to par. What would she do? She'd figure it out eventually. She could always just do the song See that Sinner since it had been stuck in her head for the last like week. Or not because she didn't have the vocal chops for that song... and it was a song about a boy pining for his best friend which was something she didn't have experience with. Maybe that new song Clout Nine? She could handle that. It was short and most of it wasn't actual singing it was... well white girl rapping to be quite frank. She could handle that.
"Okie dokie. I'll get changed then." She grabbed one of the two pairs of skinny jeans and made to go get changed. It wouldn't be hard to change as she was already used to wearing something tight around her legs. It wasn't like she was going from sweatpants to tights or anything like that.
While she was changing the other girl was no doubt doing something with the magic of the back stage and tech people. She wouldn't take very long to change since it was just jeans. She just had to psych herself up and do something. They only had thirty minutes before this strange side show went live and they had to do their best. Well it was now or never.

"Okay, it's decided then." Raven makes a mental note of the songs. Overall, they have six songs. Say I Love You, The Girl Dressed in Candy... Cloud Nine... Asterisk War... "And Magic of Heartbreak," Dai says helpfully, hearing Raven's loss of words. Raven nods again, and see through the preparations before going backstage.
"I'll be back in about a minute or so," Raven says as she gets a hoodie from the a rack. She leaves the dressing room for the backstage. So far, this mission is going to the right direction. Both girls are somewhat ready, the only thing left to do is to well, perform. The hardest part, at the same time Raven's favorite. The backstage is not that far away from the dressing room, and so Raven has to only take several cautious steps, careful not to be seen by the anticipating crowd.
She arrives in mess of interface, floating screens, and audio and video tests. She weaves through the busy witches, and approaches the one designated to the audio. The man looks up lazily, his eyes however are sort of panicked. "Relax," Raven says, and the man seems to recognize her. He nods curtly, and lets Raven recount the songs. "That's about six songs. You can remix it a little bit, but not so much to the point it's not unrecognizable. All right, we're counting on you!"
But before she could leave, the audio assistant pulls on her sleeves, and Raven whips around with an irritated 'what?' The man then hands her two vials, and Raven cautiously accepts them. "Boss wants you to have them," he says. He further says that it's imperative for the performers to ingest such potions, for a flare. Raven has no time to question more, instead just whisks the vials away and returns to the dressing room.
She opens the door to see Siobhan already dressed. Raven smiles, "Perfect," she says. Then she hands Siobhan one of the vials. "Tech says their boss wants to ingest these. Says it's for effect, and that's it's a must. I don't know..." The starcaller holds up one of the vials, and raises an eyebrow. "These should add flare to our performance, though time did not permit me to ask which it would affect..."

The young woman changed herself in ample time before the other girl came back from whatever she was doing. She was never really good with all these entertainment stage things because she wasn't a pop idol or an entertainer. She was a hotheaded fangirl who liked to pick fights sometimes. She was the Tana Mongeau to Raven's Trevor Moran. Ones a hot mess and the other is gay as fudge. Wait this makes no sense. Back to the story.
She was offered a potion for effect. Drugs? DRUGS!? No wait it was just a potion to do some kind of effect. More than likely it was just something that would cause like sparkles or change hair color or some other kind of temporary effect like that. That was something that she'd seen in concerts before.
"Bottoms up?" she said with a question as she took the other potion from Raven and attempted to do a cheers clink. She'd down the hatch it and let the potion do its magic. Of course she'd feel the magic working but she couldn't see herself as she wasn't looking in a mirror. No doubt the effect would work on her and Raven would be able to see it obviously as she probably would be able to on the other girl.
The show must go on. It wouldn't be long until they performed. All she had to do was not screw this up and the mission would be a success. She didn't really even need to be good just average. She could handle that. Average.

Ever since she was handed the vials, Raven has been eyeing it suspiciously. This is perhaps the first time she has been prescribed a necessary measure for a performance. Usually managers leave the preparation to the actors themselves. And it's for the best, too, as performers should always move about to their utmost comfort, at least still aligned to the aesthetic of the performance.
She sees Siobhan dressed, and she gives her a judging look, going as much as going around her, looking from head to toe. "Well aren't you gorgeous," Raven slyly complimented. She meant it, though, as Dai notes, it sounds much more condescending than what she really meant.
And, with clogging up her nose, she clinked their vials, and with one smooth gulp, downs the whole of the questionable liquid. It tastes sweet, too sweet for Raven's liking perhaps. But she will live. She coughs slightly, almost wanting to throw up. Her mouth suddenly becomes dry, and she immediately grabs a bottle of waer from her bag and drinks half of it.
"Just what is that?" Raven moans. She tries to find any changes in her body, but found none... as of the moment. She looks at Siobhan, wanting to see her reaction to the potion. She hopes she is not alone in this.
But! Not much time to loiter around any further. Dai walks to his witch, and gently nudges her with his antlers--a goodluck. Raven rubs his nose, then, before beckoning Siobhan to the stage. "I'll introduce us. Just play along."
And with that, Raven parts the curtain, and enters the bright, open-air platform.

There liquid tasted like foul cotton candy in liquid form. It's effects however were not immediately apparent. The potion would take a few minutes before the effects came to be. Damn magic and their time limit. Well at least the show would be interesting. The older woman would go out to introduce them and then they'd do their thing. That was the plan.
"Thanks? I think." was all she said. Upon ingesting the liquid of course her face scrunched up like she'd smelled something foul. Sweet things were not on her top list of must haves but she could usually at least tolerate them. This was way to sweet and had a strange after taste. "Remind me to punch whoever made this... I mean... um something dainty?" Yeah she'd finally slipped a bit.
Thankfully the performance was soon so that meant she could probably ignore the slip of the real girl. All the new sights and sounds had momentarily distracted her because she wanted to make a good impression. The tomboyish girl who liked to get into fights had managed to slip through all of this strangeness. Sure she liked to dress girly and wear makeup but her thrill of the fight as well as her hot tempered personality tended to show up quite often.
"Okay. Let's do this."She'd let the other girl introduce them before the whole show began. She'd do her numbers and probably make a few missteps while the other girl did hers. Then they'd come together not at all realizing the potion was forcing roses to bloom all around her until it became... fairly obvious. Maybe that was the goal to liven up the stage with such displays of magic. It made her want to burn them all away. Oh well.
