this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Carbuncles are generally skittish and elusive creatures with a size and softness comparable to a chinchilla. Their most defining feature, however, is a gemstone embedded in the center of their forehead -- an item as rare as it is valuable. One has been spotted near the edge of the Theuban Jungle, and an anonymous sponsor is requesting that a team of capable individuals capture the creature and take its gem. There is no need to worry about its health -- according to all known studies on this creature, its gem will grow back over time as long as it's not caged. Though these creatures do not pose a threat, the rest of the jungle does.
The Thueban Jungle is a rather mysterious place; people speculate this jungle to be one of the most mysterious yet wonderful places one can visit in the whole entirety of Salem. While this jungle is mostly filled with large trees and thick bushes and thickets, the most common among all organisms that inhabit them were probably the creatures that reside here.
Jelly had read a recent article about an emerald carbuncle spotted in the very heart of the jungle itself, and an anonymous sponsor will request that a team of witches hunt down the critter for the emerald situated on the top of its forehead. She decided to sign up and join the fun, bringing Obelisk along with her; either she was simply bored, or she just really wanted some fun.
Either way, she had joined and there was no way to change that decision.
Arriving at the jungle a few hours later, she looked upon the forest and gaped in awe at the sight of the forest. It really was beautiful... she looked at the fishbowl hanging over her shoulder and smiled. Exciting, huh? She asked the familiar, who just hummed at this thought.
Haha well, maybe. But it'll only be more fun if the real act starts.
Hehe, I know. She agreed, then sighed and leaned against the tree, watching the road as she waited. She knew she shouldn't be doing this all alone; there were other witches coming here for the mission and she was sure of that. For now, waiting is the only thing we could do. She told the sea bunny, who only groaned at this.
The mission was exciting, alright. But the more, the merrier, she always believed.
There are no obvious signs of this creature at the edge of the jungle. With the combination of humans trying to take its gemstone and the predators stalking from the underbrush, it's no surprise it doesn't want to be found.
Birdcalls and primate-like barks echo from the depths of the forest. A light sunshower sprinkles the area in glistening droplets. No carbuncles come out of hiding.

For this particular mission, Raven has prepared well. It is over the top, you can also put it that way. She rounds the the clothes racks of markets several times, grabbing clothes to make the perfect outfit.
Raven wants to curse on the capitalists, but then she remember she has one as a friend. Raven feels like she'd be betraying Raziel if she trashes the capitalist society. And so she stays mum, and just huffs upon purchasing the jeans.
Such hideous clothes, with equally hideous colors, but somehow, Raven still manages to look fabulous in them. She braids her long white-hair into one long strand, dresses appropriately, and finally picks up a light backpack with necessary survival supplies and goes to the designated meeting place.
Dai should be credited with the contents of the backpack. If he hadn't butted in and organized the things they should pack then they'd be towing a whole ass carrier to Thueban Jungle. Dai keeps the necessary--water, food, ropes, sharp equipment. Light is not a problem to a fire witch, and with Starcalling Raven wouldn't get lost in the wilds. This mission doesn't really need a change of shoes or a comfy blanket, so he tosses those out.
They are not even at the Jungle and Raven is already complaining about the damn bugs. And she does not stop mentioning them every minute or so, until they see Jelly waiting on the side of the road. Dai approaches her first. "Hello, milady," the deer says politely. "Excuse the princess, all of these are new to her. We should get going, though. The sun has almost set."
"Yeah, we better!" Raven yells, already starting to follow a rather well-established trail. "I don't want this to last all night. C'mon!"

Well... now she's irritated. She didn't expect to be kept waiting for more than a few hours, but unfortunately she was. Jelly looks at the sky and sees the sun about to set; she curses under her breath and taps her foot impatiently. Where could her partner have gone right now? Well, if they don't show up, she could might as well just do this all by herself, then.
Okay, Jelly, listen. If your partner doesn't show up right now we could just go ahead and start, okay? We can't wait here much longer. She hears Obelisk tell her, and she agrees to an extent with her familiar. Jelly nods in agreement before turning her head to the forest once more.
Jelly hears footsteps and a few curses, and she turns to see a familiar face. The pinkette raises an eyebrow, her eyes simply scanning the newcomer over and over. Wait, I've been to a mission with her once... She thought to herself. Finally, she recognizes her. That was Raven Delacroix, and she had a mission with her once in the Alesso House.
Raven's familiar walks up to her and greets her, and she nods back as a response. Well, that got along well. She then hears Raven walk up to a trail in the forest while yelling. "Hello to you. And it's alright; I was getting irritated waiting around here, myself." She greeted back with a small smile. "Yeah, we should get going. The princess is being impatient." She adds with a giggle.
Upon entering the jungle, it is easier to notice the indistinct movements movements among the leaves, from birds and primates in the canopy or rodents and lizards along the ground. The thick greenery makes it difficult to tell if any of the movement is caused by the target of this search.

It's only been about fifteen minutes, and already it has become the worst minutes of Raven's miserable life. The crickets! The rogue sticks! The annoying leaves! They travel along a well-worn path, but even that path is still jagged with uneven terrain, and god forbid--it's muddy too! Raven struggles to walk with fashion, but the goddamn world doesn't allow her too. She is in the lead, and the girl is moving quite slowly, although with haste.
Meanwhile Dai gestures the pinkette to move ahead of him. He greets Obelisk, too. "This way, ma'am," the deer offers. While Raven fidgets with... everything... Dai allows his senses to take in the surroundings. As they delve deeper into the jungle, it becomes easier to locate the creatures. He guesses because they were delving into their habitat. The familiar has a rough image of a carbuncle in his head, and he keeps his beady eyes peeled for the skittish creature.
The sun is surely descending, and soon their light would vanish. He would have no problem adjusting to his environment--whitetails are most adapted to the lights of dawn and dusk. However, he worries about his other companions.
"Raven," the stag manages. "Perhaps you should hurry."
"Well, excuse me," Raven snaps. "I'm doing the best I could. Perhaps you should--" A fairly large lizard crosses the path in a blur, and Raven almost trips. Annoyed, she rights herself and cocks her head forward. "Lead, then," she tells Dai, and the deer gladly obliges.
The Knight sighs, obviously unsatisfied with how things are going right now. As the afternoon melts into dusk, she opens her palms and conjures a searing hot fireball just to illuminate the path. "Hey," she says to Jelly. "Got any tricks on your sleeves as how to find this thing?"

At the sight of fire, many of the smaller creatures of the forest flee all at once, quieting the immediate area. However, the branches above continue to rustle periodically, seeming to follow the duo below like a ghost.
The rustling stops, and a pair of gold-glinting eyes peers down through the canopy. They're quite a bit larger than the creature of your hunt, however.
Jelly finds herself giggling as she watches the other woman. Too disgusted with the surroundings of the area, she notes; probably having to do with her diva life. The pinkette nods and follows the white-haired woman and her familiar, who then offers to lead the way into the path.
"That's very kind of you." She could simply say to the deer, smiling and looking back and forth at Raven and the damp area. There was more likely twenty percent chance of actually finding this thing, with the rest of the eighty percent probably going to turn this mission into a failure. Can't keep her hopes down, though. The creatures' gotta be here and it couldn't be missed.
It was getting much darker, Jelly notes; unfortunately her magic doesn't allow herself to see in this time, only makes it much darker. she turns to the white-haired woman as she asks if she has any ideas how to catch the creature. The pinkette shrugs and turns around the darkening area. "Well, I'm gonna do the best I can..." She mumbles in response, squinting her eyes upon almost seeing something in the darkness. "It's probably gonna be attracted to something, like say, food, so we could probably lure it to us if we do that. It's an elementary trick."
She feels a strange presence from above them, and she quickly whips her head to the branches. Sure enough, a pair of golden eyes watch from above, almost not moving. The pinkette tugs the white-haired diva on the sleeve, her eyes still staring at those strange eyes.
"Hey," She calls out, almost in a whisper to the other, and she points a finger to the direction of where the eyes are located. "Who do you think could those eyes belong to?"
Jail's question would soon be answered as the head of a Feathered Serpent slithers out from the shadows of the tree branches. Though the beast appears to be large enough to eat a witch or two, for a few moments it appears cautious. But then it strikes, darting downwards towards the two girls.

Oh... she's right... Raven squints, then sighs. Of all the things she could not have thought of, it has to be treats. She pats her pockets with her free hand, as if trying to change the situation and make the treat somehow appear on one of pockets. All to no avail, of course. "So do you have any treats in there? I mean, Dai has food, but it's human food, not carbuncle food."
Raven hears the hiss just as Jelly does, and she tenses badly. It takes a tug form Jelly to bring her back to senses. "I--I don't know," she manages. Dai, on the other hand, has better hearing than the rest of the group and so he is back to Raven's side in one gallop. Dai has located the snake before he sees it. "A snake," he says, just as the feathered serpent lowers its head, staring at the group with its wide eyes.
The white-haired Knight holds her breath. Ugh... she is afraid, deathly afraid. Ugh. UGH! However, she forces herself to calm down, and she slowly inches forward. "Y-You know, maybe it will ignore us... if we don't bother it..."
Too late. It strikes.
Raven casts a quick Knockerbacker before falling sideways in a really ungraceful manner. She scrambles back up, and sings. The songs starts too high-pitched, but in a second it mellows out, steadies, until Raven gets the jist of it. It's perfect of course, but it will only be truly perfect if it works on the serpent.
A dilemma Raven is not ready to deal with is how Jelly, Obelisk, and Dai would react to the spell. They'd also be dazed, most probably... so Raven has to do subdue the snake by herself, huh...
TL;DR // Asks Jelly if she has any treats for the carbuncle. Casts knockerbacker to snake then falls. Scrambles back up the sings Siren Call hoping to placate the snakeu

The knockerbacker is enough to deflect the serpent from its intended course, causing it to tumble to the ground not far from the pair of witches. Though it quickly rights itself and almost looks as if it intended to strike a second time, Raven's song is successful in dazing the beast, and it merely watches them with a keen eye.
