Their steps settle into a steady rhythm as they trek away from an estate, and closer to familiar territory. His breathing gets steadier as he begins to recognize buildings and see people. The steady warmth in his hand and the change of scenery easily calm the redhead, and that oppressive isolation that home imposed is forgotten. Just a rough start that he would get over now. The sun begins setting and with it the cold drops reflected in the puffs of white escaping Aiden’s mouth every so often. Back in civilization, though they’d never really left it, Aiden turns to his friend and asks, “You cold? Your outfit is pretty much sheer.”
Unless you were a fire elementalist, he didn’t really get how people stayed warm in fashionable clothes in winter. Then again. Aiden was more of a utility weaver instead of a fashionable one. He dressed himself accordingly, even if it didn’t have a coherent look or color scheme. If it did its job, it was fine. Then again, he’d made a few questionable choices when allowed to dress himself and no one would let him live it down. The family didn’t even dare give him freedom of choice when except in color picking when it came to his clothes. Not after he’d offended Madame Marjorie with a dull yellow and brown tweed suit. He’d been rather optimistic about it considering it’d been back in the spring. She hadn’t…and grandfather had agreed. He looked like a muddied, hay bale. “Did you want to grab some dessert for later?” he adds after a bit “The minute I take off my pants I’m not leaving the house.”
The air around them was cold. He could see his breath and his hand turning a little red tinged from being exposed to the air. Even with Aidens hand holding his own it still was a bit cold for this. He didnt care though. He would risk it... put up with the discomfort for just another second of this feeling.
Moments past as they got farther away from the oppressive air of the manor and closer to the home and warmth that they both craved. He desired. They desired?
The teenager was of course called out on his outfit. Maybe it was a bit to much for this weather but... well he knew why he really went with it. Red jacket to actually have some amount of warmth.... color to match his friends hair... tight pants to draw eyes towards his toned legs and butt. Mesh so as not to be to out there by going shirtless but giving the soft impression anyway. He desired to be looked at. Or at least for certain eyes to be drawn to him.
"It is a little chilly but it looks cute dont you think? Besides Ive got your for warmth." He hummed as the other boy asked about desert. Did he want desert? Not really. He would go about whatever Aiden wanted though.
"Mmm not really but we can get some if you want." He was not going to put his pants back on after they got home. So he was going to take his pants off? That was a joke right? I mean that he was opposed to that idea. Obviously he had thought of that before. I mean the other boy had obviously seen how he thought of him in his dream. Well he seemed to dwell on the bad parts instead of the good in that scene. HIs weakness instead of... well the other parts he obviously praised in him making them probably unrealistically good.

Aiden shrugged in response. “I mean yeah, I suppose. But is an outfit really cute when the person wearing it already is?” he asked. He had no doubt Charani could somehow make a potato sack look nice, if he tried hard enough. He just kind of had that demeanor already. The minute his baby fat had disappeared, Aiden had completely stopped being cute though. He could’ve been about 8 before his antics went from ‘adorable’ to being ‘a menace’. Of course, the constant fighting with other children probably didn’t help any when the mothers came to yell at him, only for him to talk back and run away. Not that it wouldn’t get back to his grandparents.
He chewed on his lip for a moment. He kind of was craving a bit of cake and whipped cream. Or maybe some hot chocolate supplies? “If that’s ok? I don’t want to keep you out in the cold for too long.” Aiden returned, eyes moving down to his feet. “I…um, I wanted to buy some cake.” Having a sweet tooth was terrible when you had money burning a hole in your pocket. He shouldn’t but he could. And therein lies the danger of money. That’s why all rich people eventually just got super fat right? Right.
“I don’t know how much I can help with the cold anyway.” He added with a snort. He could take both of Charani’s hands and rub them for a minute but that was only a temporary solution. The last thing he wanted was Charani to catch a cold because eventually he’d probably catch it too. He spent too much time over, but only Teddy seemed to resent the fact. Hopefully. Hopefully it was just Teddy.
When the person already wearing it was cute. Yup. He was just called cute. Now he would prefer hot or attractive but you know what he will take what he can get. Cute is leagues above anything else he would have though would come out of the redheads mouth.
"I'm mean it makes some difference. Think of it as amplifying whats already there. Hence why I think you look great in button-ups and suits. You've got that distinguished handsome kind of face." He said with a little bit of red in his cheeks. It was true. He was more like a handsome delinquent looking boy instead of that cute boyish charm that Charani had.
"Lets get some cake then. My treat." He said grabbing his friend by the arm and making them switch directions towards one of the bakeries he knew had done some business with his grandmother. They made great german chocolate cakes and strawberry shortcakes. At least that is what he had of theres at one of his families parties. He was gripping the boys arm being much closer than before. No longer holding hands it was more like he was hanging off the boys arm.
It was a nice way to stay warm. He was very very close almost like a prom walk even. The place wasnt far out of the way either. Just a few blocks and they could easily get there. Maybe two or three minutes? Well probably five but they could walk quickly since it was cold.
He tilted his head, listening to his friend. He supposed that made sense. He supposed it was kind of like make up, or at least, it matched up with what he’d heard about make up. He’d drawn the line on that one the first party he’d been forced to attend. Concealer only. He didn’t feel comfortable with much else, especially when he forgot he wasn’t supposed to, you know, rub your face when you had stuff on it. A stained tuxedo jacket later and there he was: concealer only. Ha. “You think I look distinguished?” he asked, lips curling into an amused grin. He found that description a little ironic. Charani after all, was the distinguished one here. He’d grown up in it after all. “Well…button ups aren’t all that bad.” He kind of liked wearing cuff links. Then again, he was easily distracted by jewelry anyway. When he went shopping he’d swing by the section, pretending to be buying something for his mom. It just kind of ate up his time.
“Oh! Uh!!” Aiden sputtered as they moved abruptly, and Charani latched onto him. He managed to stay on his feet at least. He waited for the brunette to settled down and god back to holding his hand, but he just kept clinging to him. It felt familiar, in a way, and it made his cheeks flush a bit at the memory. He thought he’d gotten use to Charani being affectionate, but the dream had served to remind him that not all friends did things like this. Still, it was Charani, he had to calm down. This was his best friend after all. For all he knew this was just a ploy to stay warm. But then again…that bit of doubt crept into the back of his mind and he pushed it back not wanting to think about it right now. “Thanks??” he said, though his voice rose in pitch and he had to stop and clear his throat. “Thank you. I’ll be quick.” He said, already feeling his hunger begin to stir at the thought of sweets.
The place they were approaching looked pretty cute. A little old fashioned but the desserts in the window looked pretty tasty. Good selection really. He stared a little too long, stumbling slightly as they made their way to the door. “Do you come here often?” he asked, looking back at the seer.
A ploy for warmth or affection that was meant to be more than friendly? Which was it. Why couldnt it be both? It was probably both.
"Mmhmm. Kind of like a prince." He as he continued to cling to the other boy. It didnt seem like he had any intentions of letting go. It was cold after all. Yes that was how he was rationalizing it. Totally that was it. Haha. Yup.
It wasnt long before they got to the cute little cake shop. He had only been here a few times to be totally honest. Each time with either one of his elder sisters or his grandmother. His sisters loved the cake here.
"Not really. Ive been here a few times with my sisters and they catered a party for my grandmother a few times. They have pretty good cakes." He said as they made their way into the door. A simple ding of the bell announced their presence. His grip on his friends arm loosened a bit but he still clung to the boy.
There was a youngish woman at the counter. She was the daughter of the main baker/shop owner if he remembered correctly. She was maybe a year or so older than them at most. The inside was warm and modest. Unlike the prices on everything. If he dared to look Aiden would find everything here was ridiculously expensive and pretty looking. The cakes in particular stood out as probably more than someones month of groceries.
He snorted at the comparison. “Maybe in looks.” He agreed. Beyond that? He had to hold himself back from trying to break someone’s nose at least twice a week. Having a reputation to maintain was hard work for someone who had none at all. Until recently anyway. “Oh ok. Any recommendations?” he asked, lifting his other hand to wave at the girl at the cashier in polite greeting. He ignored the fact that Charani was more or less still on him, not wanting to think about the cashier and instead looked at the cakes. He easy smile seemed to strain a little bit before finally his eyes widened as he read the price tags.
Oh. Oh Fuck. He liked cake. And he thought he burned through his own money pretty quick purchasing pastries and cakes. But this….this was on a whole other level he wasn’t sure he was prepared for. Why had he brought them here? He would’ve been fine with supermarket cake. Even the bakery he had taken Miss Claire wasn’t that expensive. In fact, it was the opposite. He was pretty sure he’d recommended it because the portions were big and the prices pretty low cost. Ahh…he felt awkward being here. He almost didn’t want to eat here, but telling Charani he’d changed his mind, especially after fucking waving at the girl at the cash wrap- he couldn’t. So, he moved closer to the brunette attempting to settle his worries. “I’ll let you pick for me since you’ve eaten here before.” He said attempting his best to smile calmly throughout the situation. It probably wasn’t working very well.
Aiden hoped these cakes made up for the price tag and it wasn’t just the pretty decorating work that was marking up the price. Then again….Charani’s sister’s had enjoyed it enough to come by themselves. He stayed quiet for the moment, moving closer to Charani as he felt a bit out of place for the first time in months.
"All there cakes are pretty good. Their chocolate cake and shortcakes are delicious. They also have the best frosting." He said excitedly to the other boy. He wasnt that big of a sweets boy but he did really enjoy everything he had from this place so far.
Aiden was of course letting him decide what to get. Now what should he get. He wasnt really sure what kind of cake Aiden would like best. What to pick. Oh! Why not the mini cakes? His sisters always loved those.
"Um hi. Can we get the mini bundle." He said to the cashier lady. There was a little bit of small talk between the two as he spoke to her. Im just to lazy to think of dialogue at the moment but it would end with them having twelve personal sized cakes of varying flavors. Since he didnt know what to get he got... a lot of them.
True to form he grabbed his wallet with his free hand as the girl packed up their cakes into a comically large box with a handle on it. He handed her a rather large sum of money that was probably equal to some peoples rent to be honest. He did it like it was nothing. It was nothing.
Aiden felt his chest clutch as Charani talked about the desserts. He liked them so…they couldn’t be bad…. Then…that price tag was just there to taunt him. As much as he loved cake, he didn’t think he’d come back here to buy anything ever again. Unless it was like, Charani’s birthday or something. Which, now that he thought about it, when was that exactly? He made a note to ask later. Aiden stood there, more or less, acting like arm candy as Charani chatted with the cashier girl. He really…had nothing to contribute, not trusting himself to say anything with a straight face right now. Especially when Charani actually paid. He felt if he had tried he might’ve started choking on his own spit. That. That was a lot. For cakes. Oh no.
“O-Okay! Yeah sure.” Aiden said, perking up at his friend addressed him. The ginger reached over to pick up the box carefully, like he was suddenly transporting nitroglycerin, and began to move out back onto the cold streets of Sundial. As they began to walk back towards a pizza place near the boy’s apartment, the shock of the cost of the cakes began to wear off, replaced by childish excitement. He really couldn’t wait to try one now. If they were that expensive and that well received? I mean, he trusted Charani’s opinions a lot. They had to be good if he said they were.
He allowed Charani to readjust his grip if he needed to, now that they were back in the cold. Even if he was embarrassed, and even if he wanted the guy to stop, there was very little chance to persuade him otherwise. He kind of tended to gently push his way onto you, and Aiden didn’t really mind anymore. He’d been friendly enough when they’d first met, and he’d been a good source of company as he got used to the coven. At this point he just let him get away with most things because he liked him. Obviously. He doubted he’d let anyone else hang off of him so easily. Actually, of the few friends he did have, pretty much only Charani acted in that way. Then again, he’d always been a little strange.
Thick grey clouds rolled over, dropping the chill even more. He hadn’t checked the forecast, but he wondered if it was finally time for the first snow. Better move quickly just in case though. They reached the pizzeria soon enough and Aiden huffed, happy for the warmth and the liveliness of the place. It wasn’t crazy, but there were people milling around and music played idly in the background. It had a vibe of very much being alive unlike- unlike that really creepy dream. He eyed the other customers staring at their faces and feeling a sense of relief when he noted the faces were crisp and he could pick up little, useless details. He glanced away before he was labeled a creep and stepped up to order, extra cheese of course. “Do you have anything planned tomorrow?” he asked, stepping aside to wait for their pizza and their sodas. “I don’t have anything going on.” He added, planning to sleep most of the day anyway.
"To the pizza!" He said excitedly as the went out the door with a large handled box in Aidens free hand. There was something said by the girl that was not audible but for us guys here it was definitely about them being a couple. The gay fear is strong here lav.
Aiden lead the way to the pizza parlor with Charani still hanging off him. Probably a little more tightly than in the cake shop but then again it was cold outside. Can you blame him? Yes. He was the one who went for fashion over warmth. On the plus side Aiden called him cute
Eventually they made it inside the pizza place and after a few minutes the other boy ordered them food. Charani would allow him room to breath for a moment if he so tried in order to order their food. Of course he would quickly try to snap up as much holding time as possible since when the pizza was there he wouldnt have the appendages to hold onto the red head like that. Hand holding it was.
"I dont think I have anything planned. I might do some laundry or something but nothing planned." He said to the boy beside him. Why was he asking? Did he maybe want to hang out more... or like spend the whole weekend together. Aha nope stop thinking like that. He just thinks of you as a friend. Sure you may want that to change but these things didnt just happen over night. No wait. Strike out that last statement. They both felt that way. Just best friends. Haha. Totes.
There would be a few minutes and then the pizza and drinks would come. It would be warm and so nice. Charani would insist on carrying them in one hand with a bag around his wrist for the drinks mostly so Aiden had a free hand for him to occupy on the way back. You know totally unselfish reasons.
It’s not like the dream. There’s a distinct of lack in affection and closeness he has with Charani, but it’s not like they’re unfamiliar. Their surroundings are normal, thank the gods. He doesn’t need to have a panic attack in the middle of a pizza parlor. Once out of the way, re more or less gently offers back his arm snickering at his friend hooks back onto him like a magnet. He’s a little relieved when Charani mentions he’s basically not busy. That meant he could stay longer. He couldn’t wait to sleep in tomorrow. Or even the whole day too. As much as he didn’t like bothering his friend, he supposed he’d be forgiven if he crashed. He’d be gone by the afternoon, not wanting to take up all his time. “Is it ok if I stay a little extra tomorrow? I’m kind of exhausted.”
The mental stress of the past week had him struggling to keep up with his routines. Now that it was the weekend he would gladly spend the rest of it sleeping. No missions, no homework, just his bed, some chocolate milk, and a ticket right to snooze town. “I’m not sick but I- I haven’t been feeling well lately.” He added. The night day of his certification have been a fucking nightmare. A great way to start, and a terrible way to end. He didn’t think he’d slept when he got back, just curled up on his grandparent’s couch and shoved the fancy letter into his pouch of holding. Even now it was still hanging out in that pocket vacuum, waiting until it was called on again. He was still…mulling over what to do.
That, on top of everything else hadn’t really allowed him to back too long in his moment, sending him straight into the rest of week full of anxiety, paranoia, and stress. He’d worried his grandparents knew, but then again, they couldn’t watch him every second of every day. In any case, it probably hadn’t even been his dad. He was a wanted man, he probably knew better. Then again…he was rich….and rich people were fucking arrogant. He felt his thoughts unraveling, spiraling faster than he could really process them- ”Aiden. You’re not breathing.” chided a soft voice, in the back of his head. He took a deep breath to steady himself and focused on the warmth of his friend. “I’m ready to be mummified.” The redhead said, turning to his friend, the swaddling expert. That wasn’t for a while though. One of the things on his list was a discussion of Charani’s dream magic. That was going to take a while too. He perked up once their pizza order was called only to watch Charani take the lead and grab them himself before his hand deftly slid back in Aiden’s own. He gave it a squeeze hoping to keep the warmth alive as they stepped out into the chill of the night and headed back to his apartment. “It…smells….so strong. Even in the box.” He sighed watching a trail of steam rise from the other side of his friend.
"You can stay as long as you want." The walk to his apartment wasnt very long. It took less time than they did probably waiting for the pizza even. It wasnt the largest place in the world... at least for a rich boy who honestly didnt have to pay for anything ever. Like ever.
Aiden lead the way pretty much since well... he knew where he was going. It wasnt like this was the first time the boy had been over and it wouldnt be the last. That was something he was glad for. More time to spend.
"You dont feel well? Is there anything I can do?" He said, voice dripping with concern. They would brave the cold now and soon would be at his apartment. The night was still young and so many things needed to go through his mind. Their minds. On the plus side he would get to spend this time with a certain redhaired boy. He didnt really have any idea of what was to come. Maybe it was wishful ignorance. Maybe it was blindness. Who knows. All he knew was he had pizza in hand and they were now walking down the street of his apartment building. Time to get the ball rolling.

The redhead managed an easy smile at the seer, nodding his thanks in case Charani was getting tired of hearing him say it throughout the day. He shook his head at the question. “For now? Just eat with me.” It was mostly stress anyway. Stress and his Father. Haha. He didn’t really want to be involved Charani in that kind of thing. He had his own share of worries after all. Besides, he wasn’t sure what his next course of action would be. It’s a quick walk and as they approach Charani’s building, he loosens his grip on the boy and takes a step ahead to open the door for him before they move upwards towards his apartment. He sniffles a little, happy to out of the cold. His ears ached a little from the chill, but it was fine. More importantly Charani could warm up properly. He looked over the boy’s outfit once more before scolding himself for not offering something else to wear before they let him home. He had a couple of sweatpants or sweaters stashed in the Emerson estate. He’d just been in too much of a rush to really remember it.
He settled easily into the other boy’s apartment once it opened up. Aiden made his way to the kitchen to step down the cakes before walking back to take off his coat, and then beginning to loosen his tie. “I’m gonna change before we eat.” He announced more than ready to dress down for the night. It wouldn’t take too long. He had everything he needed on him after all. The convenience that came with stitching your own bag of holding. After a few minutes he’d return from the bathroom wearing dark sweatpants and wrapped up in a thick hoodie and fuzzy socks. He couldn’t help but sprint a little just to give himself speed, and slide into the kitchen to pick up his food. He’d glance around for a moment before picking up a plate and dropping a couple of slices for himself, before setting it aside and serving Charani as well.
He seemed to lose himself in the task of grabbing plates, and napkins, and drinks as his mind wandered to other things. He was trying to make a list of things he wanted to ask, ordering them in a way that would help him get answers. The thought of confronting the seer made him nervous. The dreams and things he’d shared with Aiden had felt so personal, he’d avoided picking at them for more information. Until now that is. Then again, he couldn’t help it when those dreams had involved him. Still, maybe it was his own embarrassment, but he felt like it might go badly. He left the most pressing question for last, not wanting to think about it himself. He didn’t want Charani to throw that back at him afraid his lack of answer would only bother his friend. “Hey, you picking something to watch?” he asked, picking at a stringy piece of cheese off Charani’s slices.
"I can do that." The two finally made it to his building. The red haired boy opened the door for him like a true gentleman. It was kind of nice as they walked into the warm building. It was maybe thirty seconds from that time until they were at his door and in his apartment.
Aiden then went about to change his clothes into something more comfortable. Did he want to kind of spy on the other boy when he changed? I mean kind of. Did he imagine the other male coming out of his room in nothing but grey sweatpants and no shirt? Totally. Is that what came out? Nope
The young man placed the pizza on his counter and opened the box letting the italian dish waft around the space. He grabbed two plates and placed them on the counter; one for him and one for Aiden.
"I'll be back in one second." He would change after his friend. Instead of the super cozy blanket clothing Aiden was in, Charani was in a sweater that was a little big on him that would look kind of familiar to Aiden as well as rather short pajama shorts.
He would come out and start flipping through his own dvds for something to watch. Something mind numbing perhaps? True crime show... no. Oh how about 13 going on 300? He loved Jenny Garden in this movie. It was fun and cute. "I got something. Mildly comedic and not at all horror just for you." Soon enough he would get his slices from Aiden and sit down. Time to eat.
As Aiden turned towards the living room to carry their food, he stopped mid stride, eyes narrowing slightly in vague recognition at Charani’s clothing. He moved closer, setting down the plates on the coffee table in front of the couch, eyes still on his friend. As he pulls napkins out of his hoodie pouch and sets aside Charani’s drink for him he takes his plate in his lap and chews thoughtfully. Before he can ask though, he perks up at the movie choice. Key words: not horror. “Yes, good, quality movies with no horror subplots at all. I like it.” He stated. He hadn’t really watched 13 on 300 but who cared as long as it wasn’t terrifying.
But back to a more important matter at hand. “Hey Charani,” he began after swallowing another bite of his pizza. “When…when did I lend you that?” And why had he kept it? He would’ve thought it too frumpy for outdoor wear. Then again, that probably explained why the boy chose to don it for pizza night, now that they were absolutely not going to leave the house after. He settled into the couch, crossing his legs so he had something to lean his elbows on while he ate. In the end he didn’t really mind if his clothes were taken from him. Though, it gave him an idea as to what to get the seer for Christmas. Or well, make. If he was going to steal his stuff, maybe he needed it. Ah, but fashionable clothing wasn’t really his specialty. And it wouldn’t be a design ugly enough to be worn ironically. He mulled this over, cramming pizza into his mouth. He made a note to go out clothes shopping. He’d look at what was trendy with sweaters this season and model his own gift after one. That’d work right? Then maybe Charani would wear something other than mesh in the cold.
