this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Did you know that Mirrorlight has an underground society, both literal and figurative? Most don't, with how well hidden it is and how quickly an exposed tunnel can be blocked off from the rest. As it turns out, if you dig deep enough neither the city's magic detection nor its law enforcement can reach. [break][break] The Underground connects to the surface through old cellars and long-abandoned waterways, many of which are as old as the city's first wall. The deeper you travel, however, the more motley it becomes, with its regular inhabitants utilizing the ancient burrows of Duneworms and other desert beasts combined with magically and manually dug-out caverns. Subtle symbols are etched into the rock and glass for those "in the know" to indicate which pathways lead to traps or wraith nests, and which walls conceal a hidden door. [break][break] Not all of the communities here are involved in the trade network that you're tracking -- some are merely outcasts or homeless who fell through the cracks, while others are researchers of dark magical arts or involved in unrelated but equally vile trades. But, simply because they aren't involved doesn't mean they haven't seen transactions or heard whispers. Unfortunately, most are tight-lipped around outsiders like yourselves.

( prompt )Mickey Hassan, heath ambroise, ninos knight, welcome to Starfall's (other) first prompted mission! You are granted full creative freedom here to discover and influence whatever you'd like, but staff will jump in occasionally with plot tidbits or twists. Staff won't post every "round" like in typical events, so no need to wait! [break][break] Enjoy, and happy adventuring!
Drip drip drop. The sound of water dripping down the waterway tunnels is so loud Iâm the quiet stone passageways. The dark is calming, serene even blocking out the harsh daylight outside. Wha better a time to go exploring right.
The raccoon and witch travel slowly, hugging the walls and stone pathway on the edge of the water just barely enough room for a single file line to walk. Why was he with these two. Well honestly he needed bodies and they were... recommend by someone in the coven. Well more accurately someone related to the coven for one of them.
The wall was cold and hard. The air moist and cold as he moved along. They were trying to find the underground. There was allegedly a passageway here in this section of the waterway that housed a secret passage down the tunnels where the underground was held.
âSee anything extras?â the boy mouthed off readily as his raccoon familiar scurried around sniffing the air trying to find any hint of the passage they were looking for. Any at all. Hopefully these losers could be some help.
[attr="class","inkpost"]the potion makes him look odd, he thinks. in lighting like this, it is easy to mistake the dark liquid smeared across his eyes as a ragged streak of blood. it isn't, though â his eyes are bright, perhaps unnaturally so, as the shadows of the underground shift into a more coherent sight. the occasional spotting of tunnel-lights are almost blinding sometimes, but for the most part, everyone down here is fairly fond of the dark. he can't blame them â the light has a habit of revealing terrible truths about it all.[break][break]
ahead of him, miro lopes along, nose to the ground. every once in a while, the familiar pauses, freezing like a hound with a scent, before continuing along with the group. there is no shortage of false alarms â the place is rife with interesting scents, and he cannot quite blame his familiar for being occasionally distracted. that is, of course, until miro pauses for a beat longer than usual this time â "there's a change in the air here," miro says, the familiar projecting his voice for the group to hear. a secret entrance, perhaps? but even with his darkvision, ninos sees no gaps in the stonework, no hint of an opening mechanism.[break][break]
further down the path, there are murmured voices. people are not uncommon down here ; the underbelly of the city thrums with a lifeblood unfamiliar to those above. "perhaps," ninos starts, a question lifting his voice, "we should have a chat with the locals."[break][break]

For the most part, Heath had no recollection or remote connection to the Underground of Mirrorlight. His days dealing with this type of dark thing were behind him, and they were merely surface level in Sundial. He had waded not too deep so he could make sure he would eventually pull himself back out. Heâd, of course, decided to drop in on his old boss for a question or two, and of course, a very late but necessary gift. He still remembered how to butter them up. Sadly, not much to tell on the Underground other than a few vague hints and a wish for good luck. Still, he was undeterred. His stories and research had been following closely on a couple of mysteries now, and this itself while perhaps unrelated could very well incriminate the cityâs most respected coven, right? He needed to know. And it just made it easier the fact that he didnât have any knight friends himself.
No stranger to getting his hands dirty, he was ready for whatever dangers lay ahead, eagerly jumping on the chance for a weird investigation. Even if it led to nothing, at least he would explore somewhere new. Maybe itâd come in handy later. He looked from their mission leader, an angry teenager he would happily allow to say anything if it meant being front row on something This fucking Cool and shrugged. Hiss eyes are still adjusting to the light, but he can hear the hushed murmurs of someone up ahead too. The sounds easily bouncing off the walls. No doubt they could probably hear them coming too. He thought about the knife in his pocket.
âMight as well.â He said as they slowly crept up to a couple of strangers. He could make them out a bit, though no doubt they had some sort of magic to help them see better as they offered no light source of their own. He blinked, an invisible interface flashing into his light of sight. He picked up the figures and mana slowly extrapolated their life signatures. He saw vibrations translated in a pulse, and how quick they were breathing among other little things that seemed to change on their approach. The two witches are quiet, and he can see their eyes on them. The journalist waited for his companions to saw something but not before one of the locals pipes up with a gruff, almost lazy voice. âYâpetrified or some shit? Turn around and fuck off.â The other witch tenses up, he can see it in how the pulse ups slightly.
âJust running a quick shopping trip. Wonât bother you anything.â He returned evenly, trying to emulate the cool manner of speak his boss always had. âUnless you got anything interesting on you?â he added, glancing over at Mickey and Ninos for back up. How did one go about asking for something THIS illegal? âOh I just wanna buy an illegally bred ice wyrm?â At least exotic animals would take them in the right direction.
âEyy piss off. We ainât know nuffin.â Why do they sound British? Blame PokĂŠmon sword and shield. Anyway the couple of guys heath ambroise tried to talk to didnât seem very happy to lip up. The shorter one sweating a bit as the loud one spoke up. Smells of fear.
The raccoon was the one to close in as backup. She looked back at her witch before getting the nod of approval. âThat is unfortunate. We had some spare coin to offer for information but if you donât have any...â Shifty. They had very little money save what they got from odd jobs. It would be worth it though if they could get the information they need. He didnât want to make a ruckus so quickly. Besides his skills didnât assist him that well in a straight up brawl. He was a strike from the shadows and one blow to end it before they even know youâre there kinda guy.
The wall was probably being magically altered based on the familiars description to ninos knight or at least hidden being an illusion. Honestly it was just a simple spacial spell. There was one brick looser than the rest. Push it in and the elluvian like portal would allow them through. Of course theyâd need to get that information out of the two. Or do it by accident.
Really it was anyoneâs guess what would happen. The two didnât seem very powerful. Fledgling level if that. They were probably low level criminals or scum cast out from the town. Maybe both? Who knows. But they definitely know how to get into the labyrinth. That is without a doubt a fact.
