this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. it's time to wake up
les deux soleils sont levés comme chaque matin j'ai de la chance
The city center of Sundial wasn't a place Andy went to frequently. Even in a city of witches, she couldn't help but feel like she stuck out a bit. It was more high-class here, 'luxurious,' and Andy just didn't fit the bill. More strikingly though was how much she didn't try to fit the bill - adorned with colourful translucent scarves, a long and flowing lavender skirt, and sandals with heels that brought the already-tall witch to just over six feet, she was clearly not here for work nor was she likely a part of the Helios Knights.
Their headquarters were nearby, after all, and although Andy was mostly here to scout out the library and get a better bearing on the city, she was curious to know how Morgan was doing. Sure, she could send him a message, but he was probably busy being ambitious and eager and... all those qualities he had that Andy was only beginning to understand. The Jester's Den was helping her test the waters of witchhood, and although she had a dream and the means to pursue it, laziness and procrastination had a tendency to get in the way.
Thatch was nearby poking about in a flowering shrub as Andy slumped into a bench below a cafe. In the morning light, downtown was golden and shining, with well-looked after and most likely enchanted gardens and parks. Long legs crossed, the enchantress was happy to sit for a bit, people-watching and smiling whenever someone caught her gaze. Hopefully she didn't look suspicious. Content to hang out, Andora kept a keen eye out for her twin brother - or anyone, really, that might make good company.

Frankly speaking, Asha didn't know what stroke of luck or circumstance allowed her to be here, basking in the morning glow of the city center of Sundial. She walked through the streets slowly, taking in whatever sights she could. It wasn't really the pleasant environment (or the fact that she was supposed to be on patrol), no. She'd never bother with details like that.[break][break]
Instead, it was the multitude of people that adorned the city streets which ended up catching her attention.[break][break]
Her eyes caught on a woman dressed in colorful scarves- a pleasant change from the usual clothes you saw witches around here wearing. It was the briefest moment of hesitation that made her lock eyes for just a split second and wonder. Wasn't that face a little familiar? The girl smiled and Asha smiled back, looking a little silly after having suddenly stopped mid-walk.[break][break]
She wasn't really heading anywhere in particular, perse... It was just patrol. What else were the Helios Knights supposed to assign fledglings? She'd probably spend a couple hundred hours walking around the most secure parts of Sundial uselessly toting around her shiny little Knight's Crest before she could do anything substantial. The bitterness of that thought encouraged her to break the monotony of her walk.[break][break]
Asha blinked to break eye contact, shaking her head slightly as if the girl had caught her unawares. "So sorry, you just looked very familiar. Do I know you...?"

It didn't take too long before someone caught Andy's eye. A girl who paused, seemingly mid-step, to look at her. For a moment the witch wondered if it was because she looked a little out of place, or maybe she was looking at Thatch, who was stuffing his face on berries in the shrub behind her. But the look on her face betrayed something different - familiarity.
Before she could ask, Andy knew she hadn't seen the other witch before, and by the way she was walking around the city centre she seemed to be a Helios Knight but it was too soon to assume anything. But perhaps she had met Morgan. He had a tendency to attract attention. That's what you get being a handsome lone wolf type... Andy shook the thought out of her head. The idea of any woman finding her brother attractive was still gross.
Looking up at the witch expectantly as she approached, Andy smiled warmly in response. "Can't say we have," she replied calmly, but shuffled to the side of the bench as a sort of gesture for Asha to join her. "But I'm a believer in fate! Or, more likely... maybe you've been seeing my brother around,"she added with a laugh, though there was a tug at her heart when she realised how long it had been since she had actually seen him. The Knights were keeping busy.
"He's a member of the Helios Knights. But I don't know how frequently he hangs out here," Andy mused, but before Asha had time to reply to anything the girl quickly realised she'd forgotten all her manners.
"I'm rambling. Sorry. I'm Andora,"she introduced herself quickly, shooting a delicate outstretched hand towards Asha, and smiling once more.

The girl shuffled to the side of the bench and Asha didn't really miss the gesture, but she didn't jump on taking it. She was on patrol (whatever that was now worth, considering she had found a new object of her attention) and so she merely considered the offer for a bit, listening first to what the girl had to say.[break][break]
Asha broke into a smile at the girl's mention of fate, and her lips had halfed formed a reply when the girl contradicted herself right away. The smile gave way to a chuckle that mirrored the dark skinned girl's. Ashanti nodded, face lightening. "Oh, no wonder! Yeah, I think I might have caught him around the hall once or twice. Never did catch his name though..." A fleeting comment- she hadn't been able to do much socializing within her coven at all. She seemed to get overshadow by heaving hanging surnames and family crests. [break][break] "No, no, that's fine. I'm Asha." Asha walked forward to shake her hand and, in doing so, propped herself on the vacant bit of the bench the girl was sitting on, knees excitedly facing the now-named stranger. She threw quick glances over both her shoulders before turning back to the girl, as though she had a secret to tell. "And mind you, I'm supposed to be on patrol." She shot the girl a little smile-- hopefully nothing dangerous would come of her saying that. It was all too easy to assume everyone was nice, after all.[break][break]
Her violet eyes and too-curious mind immediately set to work, quietly scanning the girl and wondering what she was doing so out of place. It really didn't take a genius, but Asha had the added experience of talking to too many strangers for her own good. "You must be here to see him, right? Your brother, I mean."[break][break]

So the girl was supposed to be on patrol after all; must have been Helios Knights for sure then. It was refreshing, at least, that she didn't seem too concerned about taking a break and chatting with someone knew. Andora was pleased with this, but her grin disappeared a little when the girl asked if she was here to see her brother.
"Ah... Morgan? No," she replied simply, still smiling a little but the expression was much fainter now, and faraway. "I haven't seen him in some time," she admitted, and it was clear it was something of a touchy subject, but immediately after the witch laughed it off, shaking her hand dismissively. "He was always so into his work! I'm the slacker of the family," she added, raising an eyebrow at Asha as if she was letting her in on some sort of family secret. It kind of was, she supposed.
Andora took another quick look around the area, letting the conversation breathe for a moment. The peaceful, quiet business of people all around the city did pique her curiosity, however - how eventful could a Helios Patrol here really be? Or was it just a matter of tradition to have new recruits patrolling, like initiation?
"Anything fun ever happen on your patrols?" Andy looked at Asha curiously, hoping this wasn't confidential information. She tried as best as possible to pass it off as friendly chatter, even though it was the truth - there was nothing the jester's den fledgling could gain from knowing a funny story or two of patrol. But beyond that, she wanted to know... did anything actually happen here? Surely the Helios Knights had their own big shots to keep the place safe... or perhaps Andy was completely out of touch with any secrets they held.

Asha could not miss the falling of the smile-- it never faded off the girl's face but its spirit sure did as the happiness in her eyes did. Asha opened her mouth to protest and maybe take her question back, but the other witch laughed it off so her mouth shut automatically. She flashed her an apologetic smile, but then laughed along with the girl.[break][break] "Oh, I know what that feels like!" she said without thinking, before sighing wistfully and taking up the girl's previous offer by moving to sit on the bench next to her. She enjoyed the rest of the conversation, mind flashing to things beyond whatever they were talking about for a brief moment before the girl spoke up again.[break][break]
"Oh, hardly." Asha frowned but shrugged. "Oh...There was that one time someone's familiar bolted away and ran straight into a tree. And then the witch running after it actually fell down with the pain of it!" She chuckled, shaking her head as the imagery filled her head. [break][break] She turned to see if Andora would laugh (probably sputtering a quick "you had to be there!" if she hadn't seemed amused).[break][break]
"But nothing much. They don't let fledglings really patrol the interesting parts." Asha pouted again.
