this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

If Claire is to pick a permanent residence, it would be Eclipse Town. She falls in love with the place the moment she hears it from a rumor. Claire begins the trek towards the town as soon as she was free of her responsibilities at the coven. She's not disappointed with what greets her. Beautiful towering trees, a homely small town, happy generous people welcoming every visitor they get. The town is not a tourist attraction, unfortunately, but at least they do have inns for travelers to stay.
Having only enough cash for a one-day stay, Claire can only afford to stay at a rundown inn and buy the most basic meals for food. Tonight is her first night at the place, and tomorrow morning she'd be going back to Sundial.
The evening in Eclipse Town is a quiet night. The only bustling place alive at night is a temple, and when Claire looks there seems to be a ceremony going on. Around the shrine are several stalls. Most of the attendees are around the elevated platform, while some are in the stalls. Claire stays at the back of the crowd, watching with lax interest.
The ceremony isn't about to end soon, it seems, and Claire is not that interested to see it to the end. Backing up, however, she bumps into someone. She is unmoved from her position, though, and it is likely that the person would be the one to lose balance. Almost instinctively she grips the person's arm to steady whoever it is. She releases her hold quickly though, suddenly mindful of personal space.

I've been watching your kindness keep A lonely company Look at the fire and think of me I've been watching you creep Around my wandering feet Trying for years to flee
Despite the haunting rumors of such a quaint little town in the forest, Lucena saw no need to fear it– not anymore. There was a brief time in her childhood when she feared the unknown, feared the dangers that lurked in the dense around the perimeter of the town, but those fears all seemed to rush away when the town offered a lending hand. Eclipse Town was a place that she considered home, a place that she wished she could return to with her sister, but she has business that needs to be done in Sundial before she would ever feel willing to return to the small town.
However, this feeling of needing to do more never deterred Lucena away from visiting the town from time to time; she would have felt terrible if she didn’t visit at all. Tonight was one of those visits though she was a bit caught off guard to see the streets of the town be so quiet upon her arrival, “Did I forget a date…?” Lucena mumbles quietly under her breath, her small travel bag pressed against her body as she wanders quietly through the town. She was normally better at remembering important dates when it came to her visits, but of course, she had her fair share of being forgetful as well.
It was the noise coming from the temple of the town that seemed to grab her attention and she couldn’t help, but wander towards the attraction; she hadn’t recalled seeing the residence of the town being so lively before though it definitely brought a small smile to her face. Lucena cocked her head towards the shrine, humming gently under her breath when she noticed the various platform and stalls around the temple when she crept closer to the event. If she didn’t know any better, it appeared that things were already starting; unable to push through the small mass of people gathered around it.
Caught up in her own thoughts, Lucena doesn’t notice the woman backing up before her and she nearly stumbles backwards when the stranger’s body collided into her own. Lucena huffs softly under her breath, a bit off guard when the stranger took hold of her arm though she was grateful nevertheless; it was better than falling, “No need, it happens to the best of us...” She manages with a small awkward laugh, “Oh, no, I’m fine.”

Claire sighs in relief upon the reassurance. For a bit she is worried about her grip being too strong. She remembers Evanora, and how she had tried to hold her as gently as she could. It's with her that she first started to mind other people and think upon what would be comfortable for them.
"That is good to know," she says, still gruff and monotonous. She takes a minute of silence to acknowledge the woman in front of her. Like Claire, she has white hair, but unlike her cropped length, hers is a flowing, luscious one. She has unusual color of pupils, and Claire is attracted to it, staring at those eyes a little bit too much for comfort.
When Claire looks away, it is when the drums sound loud. Everyone's attention is caught, effectively making them focus on the event at the platform. As far as Claire can see, robed people are performing a dance while holding a basket full of goods. "An offering," Claire muses aloud. "But for whom?"
She does not know anything about this town, except for the books she had read for weeks, unable to process the sentences in it as fast as normal humans do. And she does not understand most of them, but this she knows: the culture and tradition of Eclipse Town has not been thoroughly studied by grimoires and historians yet, as it has only been discovered recently, that is why it is still rural and perpetually undisturbed.
Claire's curiosity burns. She turns her attention back to the woman, a question forming in her mouth. "Do you happen to have information about this ceremony? I... would like to know, if you have."
Then she realizes something crucial that she had missed. Her name. "And..." she awkwardly adds, "I'm Claire, Claire Fermont."

Lucena could feel the once strong grip loosen on her arm and she glanced to look at the woman, a small timid smile settling upon her lips when she met the gaze of the stranger. Despite the now gentle touch, she was grateful to the quick reflexes and the strength the woman had to keep her from falling into the dirt covered ground, “Thank you.”
The smile that settled on her lips never faltered as she peered back into the cool colored gaze before her, but the way that the stranger had stared into her eyes brought a light blush onto her cheeks. Lucena wasn’t quite used to the attention, most simply ignored her odd crimson features or kept their curiosity hidden from her knowledge. The moment doesn’t last long between the two, her own attention turning to focus on the drums and she slowly pulls her arm from the other’s grip to briefly watch the ceremony.
“I don’t recall ever seeing something like this…” She mumbles under her own breath, casting a small glance to the kind stranger when she caught her quiet musings; not quite answering the soft question she asked. Lucena turns her attention back onto the robed dancers, eyes trailing their movements as she thought over the different possibilities.
Her focus is divided once more when the woman’s quiet questions grow louder, no longer mumbles under her breath and she turns her head to look at the other, “I’m trying to remember the meaning behind the ceremony, but perhaps the citizens here are celebrating the anniversary of someone or perhaps something…” Lucena trails, her words hanging in the air for just a moment as she glances towards the sky; the moon seemed a bit brighter.
Her smile fades for just a moment when she heard the awkward start from the stranger though it was quick to return when she caught her name, “What a nice name... Claire…” She trails and she soon offers her hand to her, “I’m Lucena, Lucena Zamóre.”
It bores into Claire's mind. It's not unpleasant, rather it's beautiful. It's not unsettling, rather it's calming. She notices the thin pink lips that curves into a small smile. If possible, it adds to the beauty of the night.
Her words interests her, not just because of the subject but because of how it's structured. It takes her a while, but Claire manages to realize that the woman is no tourist in this town. It makes Claire glance at her at the side of her eyes.
"I see," Claire says, after the drums quiet. She watches as the dancers exit the stage, leaving the podium empty. For a while the surroundings is silent except for the murmurs of the crowd. It seems like nobody wants to ruin the serenity of the place. "Maybe it is indeed a celebration. The books I have read said nothing about this kind of ceremony."
The crowd slowly disperses as the stage is left empty for a while. Claire wonders what she would do next. It's already past eight in evening, and there is nothing to do anymore. Unlike the city center which is still lively even at midnight, in Eclipse Town it seems the night would retire quite quickly. Claire wants to seize every minute. She is leaving tomorrow and she still hasn't seen the whole town.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Lucena." Claire gives a formal bow as a greeting. "I am unfamiliar with this place," the novice admits. She does not waste any more time and asks, "Lucena, are you perhaps, a resident of this town? I assumed it from the way you talked earlier."
Claire is excited, and it can be seen in her blue eyes. She really, hopes, fervently at that, that Lucena Zamóre is indeed from Eclipse Town. She would do anything just to hear every bit of story from a local.
