The couple were quick to let out a laugh at their grandson’s expense. A little teasing never hurt nobody that badly. Besides, it would do well to keep the redhead grounded little troublemaker that he was. Even if he wasn’t all that little anymore. Aiden seemed comfortable enough at least. Keen eyes were quick to pick up on small gestures and linked hands. The boy felt his heart flutter inside his chest, both surprised and a little comfortable. It was…sweet. It felt nice enough. “Bah, ya shouldn’t have.” Macintosh said as he put his arm around Rosario’s shoulders. “Thank ya dearie, so nice to see you.” She said to the brunette before smiling happily at Aiden who seemed to puff up defiantly. Just a little. “Well, we won’t keep ya any longer. Let’s go Toshy.” The woman added after a good laugh at the boys before the couple quietly side stepped and chattered in excited whispers to each other. [break][break]
Aiden squeezed Charani’s hand tightly, picking up the pace so he could be away form prying eyes. He led them into an alleyway ducking into more private territory and a small shortcut. “Sorry, my grandparents are, um, nosy.” He explained relaxing his grip on the other boy just a bit. “With you and them around, I really might not make it to dinner time.” He added kicking over a bit of garbage out of the way. This wasn’t out of the ordinary for him of course. His grandparents had always been invested in his relationships, whether it was friends or something more. Still, he had this overwhelming irritation. He wanted just a bit of privacy, just a little today. He’d felt the need to hide somewhere in that brief moment as they left. Not because embarrassed but more so he’d felt something more protective flare up. [break][break]
Didn’t make any sense though when he’d earlier been threatening Charani’s life if he did anything to his family. Whatever that lingering bitterness had come from though, that momentary overlap in parallel universes maybe, it faded away just as quickly as it had appeared. “There’s more where that came from, but we can worry about it later.” He said with a shrug.
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“I like cooking so it’s no trouble at all!” The boy had that smile on his face but his eyes seemed to be watching something. In truth he was watching their auras. They seemed normal. No attempt at deceit or manipulation in them. Just old people being nosey.
Charani gave a little wave to the couple as he and Aiden diverted down the street and though a small alleyway. Probably more to get away from the two faster then anything else. It couldn’t save that much time if they just walked to the end of the street after all.
“They seem very nice.” He said watching Aiden as they walked. The couple obviously were close enough to tease the poor boy and besides embarrassment and a little shock he couldn’t sense anything like fear from the other witch. That was a good sign and he’d leave it at that. “Aww did I really fluster you that bad? Though it was kind of cute when your ears got all red.” Though as per their previous agreement the teasing would be kept to a minimum. Only when he really couldn’t help it. It would be worth it for more kisses again. Right?
Anyway back to the date. The area was in view thanks to this little short cut the knight knew. Or I guess snake? Something like that. Well time to be gay in a garden. The purest form of gay. Flower child gay. .

Aiden nodded quickly, offering a genuine smile back at his date. “’Course. They’re Cunninghams. They can’t help but be nice.” He said with a little laugh himself. Strict and embarrassing as they were, they’d always meant for the best. Not just for him but others in their little community. He doubted anyone in their small neighborhood had a mean thing to say about them. He attempted a glare, thought it wasn’t as fierce as when he’d first tried to rob the boy. “You just surprised me, that’s all!” the ginger protested a little too loudly. [break][break]
“Anyone in my position would’ve gotten flustered.” He added, pouting despite himself. “You’re not exactly what I expected.” He’d expected a quick wallet and even quicker getaway. Instead he’d ended up with a sort of free meal, if you didn’t consider the date payment. But then again, you didn’t just kiss people who you weren’t on dates with, right? He grumbled something or other about being careful crossing the street as he mulled it over. Factoring everything in so far, it hadn’t turned out too terribly for him. He liked Charani well enough. He’d try not to get too attached though. No telling when the boy would leave, and if he would ever come back. [break][break]
The glass building is pretty tall, but the towers for the museum are even taller. Light glints off thick panes of glass and Aiden can see witches milling around inside, and the faintest spout of one of the larger fountains housed in the greenhouse. He doesn’t technically go to the directed entrance though. In fact, Aiden idles past most signs for entry leading Charani around, detouring from the public and tugging him along somewhere more quiet and less populated. ‘I never liked going in with the rest of the visitors. Too crowded, too touchy about carrying knives.’ He explained, smirking as he moved through. A greenhouse doesn’t have that high of a security priority. Most of the knights were stationed by real exhibits or the entrance. But the back? [break][break]
There’s a couple worker’s stationed and a few give Aiden a couple of nods while one seemed to gruffly protest to one swamp boy tagging along. “Ah, c’mon. I’d never tell on ya.” Aiden urged playfully as he slipped his empty hand into his bag. There’s a bit of dramatic rustling before he pulled out a cheap looking flask with something sloshing inside. “Free refill?” the boy suggested before it was snatched away from him and they were waved through. ‘Good people. Bribed them with Nan’s tarts usually.’ He explained as they moved past employee only halls and exited into a rather warm and humid greenhouse. Large fronds and leaves swayed easily in an artificial breeze. He could smell the wet dirt and the flowers mixed together. “Nice right?”
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Probably. But Your reactions were worth it. 10/10 would bully again.” The boy chuckled at the thought. His brain came up with the image of himself forcing himself into Aidens lap and wrapping his arms around the boys shoulders. He would move in like a kiss only to blow air in his face. Rude. That’s where his mind instantly went though.
Charani watched the large glass building as they approached it. They quickly rerouted from the main entrance of the building down through a side area. Not the museum area but more of the pleasant garden area.
“This area is so big.” He said before they came up to a few less than happy looking workers. Well it was one in particular. His aura screamed annoyed but not overly hostile. Probably due to an extra body coming along. After all they weren’t here working hard for nothing. They had better things to do then sneakily allow the boy in just so he could impress some boy and get his eggplant washed. A flask was all it took though. Easy.
“They seem nice.” Of course he would say that. Everyone seemed nice to him it seemed. After all Aiden had literally tried to mug him earlier and that had ended in a date with the boy. He was an odd one. Through the employee halls they went until they reached their first destination. The greenhouse. “It’s warm and smells nice. Oh look at all the colors.” There were tons of colorful flowers all around them. There were blues, reds, yellows and all other forms of hybrid colors. The boy pulled his date toward a patch of red flowers. “These are so pretty. They match your hair.” They were a much more vibrant red than his natural hair color but they did look fairly close if you toned down the brightness.
There was one other person within the area kneeling by some other flowers. It was a young woman who didn’t look at them or even seem to notice them. She was far enough away they could have at least some amount of privacy. Especially is they walked around. It was a large greenhouse after all..

Aiden, like any hormonal young man, tensed up as Charani tapped into their mental link once more to show him something that hadn’t happened. Or probably would happen? It lingered in his mind well after the image disappeared. Something told him he’d forget about this little bit and get thrown off guard all over again when the brunette finally decided to pounce him with it. He squeezed his date’s hand though not too angrily, just a little annoyed. Exasperated even because if spending a couple of hours with the cultist had proven anything, it was that he couldn’t actively defend himself form him. Whether it was their telepathic connection giving him a disadvantage, or Charani’s ability to roll with every punch he threw, there was really no winning strategy that he had figured out. From what he could tell, even intimacy wasn’t a winning bet. “Do you usually bully your dates? Or am I just lucky?” he asked, words tinged with sarcasm. [break][break]
‘People just act like that to keep the rich kids away.’ Aiden offered idly. Couldn’t just let any snot nosed brat in, right? Aiden had been coming around here and pestering people inside the greenhouse for a while now. His place of choice for, well, alone time. Alternatively, it was really nice when it was cold outside. Still warm and smelling like summer. He took a deep whiff of it all. This was the closest he could get to that smell in the middle of a thunderstorm. It wasn’t the exact kind of feeling, but he liked it well enough. Probably a side effect of helping his grandmother garden all the time. He just liked dirt. [break][break]
He felt a little sweat start to form at the back of his neck and took a moment to pull off his jacket and hoodie, revealing a black, ragged t-shirt. He shoved the layers into his bag of holding as Charani took the lead. “Oh, yeah. Maybe if I stayed out in the sun more often.” Aiden said as he let out a small chuckle. He felt calmer now that it felt more private. “There’s a section with bigger flowers around here, I think. And further that way is the carnivorous plant section.” He said nodding over towards the right as he spoke. “And there’s also a tiny waterfall here and a little river that runs throughout the greenhouse. It's cute.” He added listening for the sounds of running water.
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Well this is the only real date I’ve ever been on so... yes? One time out of one.” The boy chuckled at himself. He’d never been on a proper date. Or had he? No. That was just a dream. A dream of a boy with sandy blond hair and tan skin smiling at him. An amusement park and the smell of the sea with the smile akin to the sun.
“Rich kids?” So people there age with lots of money? The. money was a bad thing sometimes. He really didn’t understand. aiden emerson really seemed to be fixated on money for some reason. A reason he couldn’t understand. Honestly not in reality or in this changed view of the world.
“I stand by my assessment. Besides it very pretty. Oh a waterfall? We should go there! Please.” He said also begging like a child to go see the waterfall. He had never seen a waterfall before. He lived in a large forested area by a swamp. There was water but that’s as close as it got to a waterfall. Dirty swamp water. Yuck.
“I guess I wasn’t paying that much attention but you’re pretty fit.” Of course he had been checking the redhead out when he took off his sweater to reveal that ratty shirt. Just a slip of skin showed of his stomach I’m the process and it was surprisingly muscular. He obviously did some form of exercise regularly. Approved. “Onward to the water! Let’s go.” The boy would grab onto both of the other boys hands and twirl them around in a circle pretty aggressively towards the right where he had pointed. He giggled as he did this before he would try to pretty much drag the other boy along. He seemed to have little intention of allowing any distance between them. He seemed to be really touchy.
The other person in the general area seemed to have vanished. Or more likely had heard how obnoxious the two were being and moved farther away from them. Though it did feel like whoever it was had slipped out like an actual ninja. One minute they were there and then poof. On the plus side alone time. MADE BY SUNBUNS

“Well then, I feel sorry for the future ones.” Aiden returned smiling despite himself. He gave the diviner a glance half wondering just how much they explained to you in a commune. Enough to get here he supposed. ‘Rich yeah. Like my opposite. They pay to do things and I just….do ‘em.’ He returned with a small shrug. That wasn’t the best explanation, but there was a reason Aiden wasn’t exactly keen on opening his wallet. Of course, the Cunninghams would say they were happy, and they were. They’d lived full lives and chosen to settle in the Hovel of all places, but that didn’t mean Aiden wanted to give them better if he could. [break][break]
“Wherever you want, we’re here for you after all.” Aiden stated as the boy yanked him forward. He was forced to comply, not that he seemed to mind too much. Not anymore. He felt his cheeks burn but he managed to keep it together a bit more as they moved through on the designated stone paths, passing bushes and signs and the occasional butterfly or tiny bird. ‘Oh, you noticed under my decency layers?’ he replied, managing to slip one of his hands out of Charani’s and giving the brunette’s bicep a quick squeeze. ‘What about you? Got any muscle or are you just as soft as you look?’ As soft as one could look when their home was a swamp. Still, Aiden grinned. He did his best to focus on Charani because he knew if he didn’t he’d probably freeze from the drastic amounts of PDA. Hand holding? Twirling? With witnesses? Him?? It’d melt him on the spot. [break][break]
He could hear water running as the path slowly led up to a small arching bridge. He nodded over to it. “Water loops around the place, and so does this main path. It’s not very big but it splashes enough for rainbows when its really sunny out.” And it was loud enough to lull you to sleep while you were at it. He’d had more than his fair share of naps in the bushes only to be woken up by a shouting child or the occasional garden worker that needed to get around him.
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Sorry because the won’t get the opportunity perhaps.” The boy stuck his tongue out at the young man before him. It was just more mild teasing of course. Nothing more. Besides Aiden seemed to be slowly growing antibodies so to speak.
“Ah.” So the explanation wasn’t that great but he sort of got the idea none the less. Probably be real memory being used to fill in the gaps of the spell causing this shift in perspective.
“Yeah but I want you to have fun too obviously. It’s not a good date if we aren’t both enjoying it right? Right.” He said instantly agreeing with himself as they walked towards the watery area. Something about a river or bridge or something. Honestly he was only sort of paying attention with all their new surroundings.
“Of course I noticed I’m not blind hehe.” Of course he had been checking the redhead out so why wouldn’t he have noticed the compact muscle underneath? Charani on the other hand was different thanks to the spell. His hair wasn’t the only thing changed from normal life. His body was always lean but he lacked the normal muscle that came with the rigorous Helios Knight training. He was much softer and smoother than he was in reality and with a squeeze of his bicep Aiden could probably tell very quickly that he could physically overpower the brunette quite easily.
Theyd be at their destination rather quickly. The birds chirping all around growing quieter as the approaches the roaring sounds of the water. It was louder than he thought it would be to be honest. But also Aiden had initiated some contact which was a good sign for this date. Right? Yes. MADE BY SUNBUNS

That sounded a little ominous, for Aiden anyway. “You don’t plan on forcing any other person to guide you around the city again?” He had been a terrible choice after all. Aggressive, criminal, hungry, and impatient. Pretty bottom of the barrel stuff all things considered. Even in the Hovel, Aiden knew of better people his age far more equipped to deal with a cultist in need of help. He nodded along to Charani’s impeccable logic. “Right…” Aiden still didn’t see himself as a dating type of guy. You just hung out with someone, but it was different to just ‘hanging out’ with a friend. “I guess I’m ok watching you have fun too.” He added with a shrug. He’d been to the gardens plenty of times on his own. He could think of a couple of things he wanted to share, but it wasn’t that important to him if he did or didn’t. He felt his armpits burn at his own words. That was too much. It had sounded like too much. Ew, who was he? [break][break]
‘Duh, I’m not blind either. Wait-’ He replied too quickly as he felt the sweat bead up on the edge of his neck’s hairline. Aidne hadn't meant to admit he'd been staring. Then again maybe he was too obvious after a while. He didn’t look it, but he was probably a bit more modest than Charani was which was strange considering their backgrounds. But really, everything about Charani was strange or at least unexpected. Maybe that was a better way to phrase it. From what he could feel, it was a wonder the diviner had gotten the better of him. Aiden would’ve bet on his chances of disarming him in a fair fight. That said, he didn’t doubt Charani made up for it somehow. The lack of muscle mass made it pretty clear he really was just letting the guy drag him around without much resistance. A good meal and a nice smile had disarmed him too quickly for his own comfort, but that was something to analyze at another time. [break][break]
The thundering of water got louder, and he could see a bit of mist around the waterfall. “Careful, it’s a little slippery on the bridge.” He said as he pointed over as a black metal and wooden bridge that passed right in front of the man-made waterfall. It wasn’t terribly tall, but it had enough force to coat the bridge slick with water. The plants and moss around it were thick and vibrant. “Smells like rain.” He said, one of his favorite scents. McKenna often brought the smell of rain and ozone with her and it had become a source of safety for him. Like the smell of home. ‘In the middle of summer, you can find all kinds of people taking it in.’
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“It’ll be fine.” The boy stuck his tongue out as he broke on ahead of the other boy. Their touch no longer there but the warmth still humming against his skin. He twirled around to look back at the red haired young man as he made it onto the bridge.it was there that he finger gunned at Aiden like a nerd.
“Aha. So you do think I’m pretty. Ehehehe.” So he laughed a little villainously in his head. Well not evil per say but maybe like he wanted to bully the other boy more now. That kind of laugh. “Phase one complete. Only 80 more and I’ll have completed my evil plan. TO STEAL YOUR GRANDMOTHERS LEMON BAR RECIPE AHAHAHA.” He slapped his knee and laughed audibly. He thought he was being so funny. Weirdo. He even had tears. Not much but still. He began to wheeze from laughing. Dork.
“But anyway. Back to what we were talking about. Um...I hadn’t planned on it. After all I’m sure I wouldn’t be lucky enough to get a cute boy twice in a row for a guide.” He said nodding to himself. He seemed very serious and sincere about this. Well he was a weirdo. A total 180 shift from seconds ago. Dork.
“The water smells nice.” Of course then turned too quickly in front of aiden emerson and he could feel his footing slide on the bridge. Being close to the center he was in no danger of falling into the water. He would however smack his butt on the bridge which probably wouldn’t feel too pleasant. So like that’s not good. What a wonderful way to go on a date. Local boy trips on first date. Dies of embarrassment.
“Well shit.” Was all Aiden would hear in his head as Charani started to fall. MADE BY SUNBUNS

“Not for the poor bastard you tag along to next time.” The boy returned with a snort. Nice or not, the experience promised to be overwhelming. “Especially with the whole, mind thing. That’s pretty weird.” He added, still not quite understanding how that particular aspect of magic worked. He let some distance between him and his date form, if only to give himself a moment to cool off his nerves. He tensed up a bit as Charani called him out on his thoughts, for a moment flashing back to his home and Charani in what was basically a shirtless outfit. He felt like his head was steaming. ‘Pretty cute.’ Aiden admitted stiffly. He thought a lot of things were cute and that was completely ok. This time however, he felt like admitting he thought Charani was cute was like admitting defeat. [break][break]
‘Gran gran’s lemon bars? And here I’d thought you were after my good looks and life essence.’ Aiden returned feigning dismay as he took care in joining his companion. He smiled, though he didn’t find this that funny. “I’ve been had, again. What’s that, like, the third time today you’ve managed that?” he asked as he let Charani collect himself, half tempted to jab him in the side. “Guide’s a guide, does it need to be a cute boy?” he asked, tilting his head slightly. He was currently ignoring the fact that he’d been called cute despite his body already going into overdrive over it. If admitting a boy was cute was bad enough, being called cute by the same boy was ten times as worse. [break][break]
‘Yeah-’ He heard the loud squeak of shoe on wet wood. His reaction isn’t the best, half distracted by the scenery and the company, but he still moved in an attempt to help. One arm shot out to grab one of Charani’s while he stepped in close to wrap his other arm around his waist. It would’ve been cool, romantic even, but there’s nothing romantic about trying a split on a slippery surface. His center of gravity is off, and he found himself being dragged down onto the bridge with him in a loud series of sneaker squeaks, pained grunts, and one loud THWACK! Of bodies on bridge. “Ugh…what’d I say…?” he asked as he lay still for a moment gathering his bearings, head resting almost too perfectly on Charani’s collarbone.
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
And the crowd goes wild. Well no. In fact the crowd would give a huge gasp of concern. If there was a crowd. Which there isn’t because they are alone. Maybe McKenna is snickering in the other plane? That’s their only audience after all. He felt Aiden try to catch him but they were not linked arm and arm like before so it took too long to grab him and they both went down as a result. Ow. That’d leave a bruise In the morning. Especially with Aiden on top of him.
“Ow.” So aiden emerson was right. He should have been more careful but like... he wasn’t so that’s where they were. He oooked at the other boy who was currently pinning him. He was Heavier than he looked. Which isn’t surprising since he looked to weigh as much as Charani... Aka nothing. Probably all those surprise muscles from being so active that Charani lacked in this form.
“Yeah gonna be honest I wasn’t really listening that closely. I was thinking if you have abs or not and what they look like.” He said with a small chuckle. His back was not feeling great right now especially since he was the one on the bottom of their pile of limbs and more limbs. Aiden was warm on his front and the bridge was wet and cold behind him. It was a weird feeling.
“But also you’re surprisingly heavy.” He would try to lift himself up and/or move Aiden upwards to be off of him. Of course he was not very strong so if aiden emerson resisted even a little he’d quickly lose a battle of strength. Heck he would appear to me struggling to get the other boy off him even without that. He didn’t seem to care that much though.

He did indeed hear the gently snickering of his familiar echo in the back of his mind as he looked up at the poor brunette he was probably crushing. They weren’t that different in height, but it was clear he was denser than the diviner. Oops. Maybe he should’ve just let him drop. Would that have hurt less? He had been careless after all. Aiden frowned as he propped himself up slightly on his palms, attempting to get up. He gave the brunette a glare snapping quickly at the joke. “Really?! Ugh-” He lay down once more putting pressure on the boy’s chest clearly a little annoyed. “I ate a big lunch.” He said deadpanned, expression slightly smug as the boy attempted to lift him off without much success. [break][break]
He contemplated letting the boy struggle before sugary sweet words drifted into his head and clamped a vice on his throat. As his words entertained just exactly what his date meant, his body worked in overtime pushing up off the boy and popping up. His sneakers gave another loud squeak as he almost fell once more but he caught himself, clinging to the handrail for dear life as he tried to keep control on the inner meltdown that train of thought could lead to. Especially with an audience present, he did his best to think of more chaste things. Like eating, hand holding, drying paint. You know, something neutral. [break][break]
“B-Be more careful. I- I uh, don’t know a lot of healing magic.” He said as he extended his hand to the boy while firmly keeping hold of the bridge in case Charani totally dragged the both of them down again. “You ok?” he asked, though it was clear that for the time being he was avoiding Charani’s eyes once again.
"I just cam here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
The brunette puffed up his cheeks in annoyance at being pinned down once again. He struggled without any way of getting out really. Meanie. “Rudeeee.” Was all he said as the other boy held steady to keep him pinned down. It didn’t last long as he teased the boy into backing away.
When aiden emerson jumped back and up quickly it gave the young man a chance to sit up at least. He didn’t dare to try to stand yet or he’d probably fall again right away. Best to wait for a minute to get his bearings again before trying to stand. Aiden seemed wobbly himself. Concerned though which was sweet.
“Yeah. Probably gonna be bruised in the morning but nothings broken that I can tell. How about you?” He said with a gentle look of concern on his face. Serene perhaps? Hard to tell. “Here lets get off the bridge and I’ll take a look? Better safe than sorry.”
He was slow to lift himself up off the ground. His face twinged in discomfort for just a moment before it was supressed. It was an unpleasant soreness that radiated up his lower back. Nothing that bad but maybe an ice pack or something later would be helpful. He would use the railing as leverage to walk to the other side hopefully as aiden emerson followed him. Aiden nodded as he straightened up, making sure he wasn’t about to carelessly step on wet wood and slip. These really weren’t the best shoes for this kind of thing and he would remember in the future to wear something better suited for it. “I’m fine.” He stated smirking softly at his feet as he dried his palms on his jeans. “I had a pretty soft landing.” He added as he followed along stepping gently before fully putting his body weight forward not wanting to end up in an accidental split and really strain something for the next few days. “Like you said, bruises." [break][break]
He caught up to Charani, much more confident walking on gravel and rock than a bridge that had embarrassed him more times than he could count. There’d been a reason he’d warned Charani after all. The waterfall bridge was a cruel mistress, she was. He sat himself on the bench next to Charani, letting out a sigh of relief as he did. “Don’t worry, I’m pretty sure you took the brunt of the damage.” He said jostling his date’s shoulder and letting out a dry laugh. “We can ice you later, or I can grab you something cold for your head?” Aiden offered feeling, maybe, a bit guilty about the whole thing. Even if it hadn’t been his fault. [break][break]
“In the end, we cooled off right?” he asked gesturing and his partially wet clothing before looking over at Charani’s back. He chewed the inside of his cheek in thought, already thinking if he had a spell that could help the poor guy dry off. Maybe a towel with a fire elemental thread in it? He’d more or less made that just to be able to lay in warm laundry any time he wanted.
