“The grass is so warm isn’t it.” There was a warmth of presence within this boy that normally wasn’t present. A change in childhood affecting both himself and aiden emerson equally different. Like the flowery festival outfit he wore bright white clothing and floral designs. Purity. A pure child spinning in the grass like it is his first time outside in years. Probably.
There was a soft hum as the small dot familiar ran around in circles before rolling its body in the grass. It felt so nice to see the sun. It was so bright and warm. Is this what sunshine felt like? Why was everyone not outside during the day all the time?
The brown haired boy waved a the two elderly people who were walking along the small stone path into the city. They looked at him oddly but payed him no mind. There were so many colors. So many people. Surely this world wasn’t as scary as the stories had said. It was pretty.
There we’re small whispers in his head. He didn’t recognize what it was saying or where it was coming from. Was it their God? The one who told him to run? The vision had to come from someone right? He didn’t notice a snake in the grass. Red hair and full of sadness. The voice in his head was growing clearer... stronger as the snake in the grass come closer. A serpent in the purity of Eden.

It was too bright. Far too bright to be by himself. He felt separated, isolated. The lack of anything out here made him panic in the back of his mind but he was hungry, and his pockets were empty. He could well enough do a job and get back into the city on his own. He felt out of place, typically only coming out to the plains at night to drink with friends. Still, people always wandered around out here for one reason or another. Picnics, meditation, mild exploration. Not that there was much to explore giving the flat nature of the land. Sure, there were trees dotting the landscapes and patches of grasses taller than a grown adult but not all of it. [break][break]
His stomach rumbled, and the redhead picked up the pace, eyes narrowed in focus. Hs familiar whispers into his mind and his eyes slowly travel over the horizon. It’s far but he spots it. A lone witch, unaware of their surroundings. Isolated. Easy. Like a magnet he moved closer as McKenna slowly escapes form the astral and settled in a patch of tall grass, watching and waiting. The dark serpent is quick to cut the distance while McKenna kept watch and relayed information. If he could manage this quickly enough, they’d be snapping back into the city fast enough with enough change to grab a steak kabob from the carts setting up for dinner. [break][break]
Black leather and ripped jeans are not the optimal camouflage but at least he just looked like a teenager roaming around in the wild. Worn in sneakers barely make a sound as he stepped through soft earth, hood up and target sighted. A pale hand reached down to pull a thing cream colored scarf, knitted with tassels still attached. No words were really exchanged as the scarf dropped down to the ground before fluttering to live and darting on the ground towards to lone witch in white. As it did Aiden began to quickly stumble out of the grass tripping over someone dressed in textiles worth more than his grandparents entire working lives. Its messy, and he can’t help but grunt as he tried to topple, more like shove, the witch on the ground as his own creation circles and leaps up plant itself onto Charani’s throat in an attempt to keep him silent. “Ah- fuck this hard landing shit…” he hissed having thrown himself a little too well.

“I wonder what the city is like? Should we go visit soon Teddy? I...” There was something hard and bony that rain into him. Ow. It kind of hurt. It was an odd sensation as his body was forced to the ground. A young man probably around his age hovering above him.
The white cloth snaked itself around his neck and lower face like a scarf tied just a bit to tight. Still able to breath but muffled and uncomfortable. It made it difficult to speak, the pressure unpleasant to say the least.
The brown haired boy stared up at this strange young man. Had he tripped onto him? Maybe this was how city people greeted each other? He really doubted it but given how the others spoke of the unfaithful nothing was off the table.
Despite this magical change in lives the telepathic connection still remained. He mumbled something, muffled by the scarf so that it was unintelligible to aiden emerson. He could however, as the distance was so close, hear the boys voice in his head crystsl clear. “Who are you?” The canine familiar was nearby looking mildly confused, obviously much more innocent than he would be without the spell. Who was this boy? Was this how the unclean greeted new people? MADE BY SUNBUNS

[attr="class","a1scroll"] His magic worked quickly, silencing for now and waiting for the command begin crushing a certain someone’s windpipe. To most his current position would appear to be one of a very clichéd shoujo manga, but that for look. This was a threat. His hand slide to his back pocket revealing a pair of glinting shears, sharp and clean. The light glints off momentarily and McKenna is mobile cutting off the dog familiar at the pass with threatening silence. She is taller, has more presence and more cunning. She glares down at the pup, blind eyes trained on Teddy. [break][break]
Unlike his almost doe eyed confusion, Aiden’s expression is tight grimace and his lips pull back into an angry snarl that suddenly faltered as he heard a voice clear as day in his head. The echo of it makes him tense and he leaned in close. “What are you doing?” Magic right? That was always the explanation but what kind? “Don’t fucking try anything. These shears can cut through more than just silks.” He warned trying not to waver as he more or less began to feel something strange going on in his brain. As the mental tether snapped their minds together it set the boy on edge. ‘Stay calm. Get what you need and get out.’ McKenna warned sensing a rise in panic in her witch. She pawed at the ground, stomping her foot once as a threat towards the pup before her while waiting for her witch to carry on. [break][break]
“I’m taking your gold, thanks in advance kid.” He said as he steeled his nerve while the scarf quietly coiled around Charani throat ready and waiting. He ran his empty hand along the witch’s side checking for a wallet or a bag. Once he had that, him and McKenna could disappear easily within the city and be done with it.

There was something familiar about this boy that he couldn’t quite place. Maybe from another lifetime? Or another soul. His aura was wild and full of contradictions. He could see sadness, fear, panic etched inside as it all whirled around widely. Lost. It felt lost... and sad. Like a wounded animal lashing out. There was a black twinge to it he wasn’t familiar with.
The white cloth was stopping him from vocalizing his thoughts. It was not however stopping him from using his arms. He wondered why this boy seemed so different from those within his own commune. Wild.
The brown haired boy tried to put his hands up to the red heads cheeks, almost as if a mother caressing a small child when they were sick. He looked sad... not afraid like one would expect. “Why are you so sad?” Not exactly the response one would expect.
Despite the silk and pretty embroidered clothing there was no money on the boy. In fact he had nothing on him besides the clothes on his back. That tended to happen when you sneak out. Besides there was no need for money within the commune. He wasn’t even sure how much things were worth to be honest.
Oh? Rooting around for money would only lead to aiden emerson accidentally groping the poor brown haired boy. He would probably turn a little red at the young man touching him in such vulgar places. His legs, his thighs, his butt even. Shameful. One shouldn’t do that with an outsider. Especially without permission. He hadn’t struggled really though. The canine was on high alert watching and ready to do something. MADE BY SUNBUNS

[attr="class","a1scroll"] Fuck. Empty. The lack of anything valuable made him hiss quietly cursing the useless witch he’d had the misfortune of encountering. Though amid his search he doesn’t notice arms reaching towards him until he felt warmth on his face and froze. His breath hitched in his throat as dark eyes widened in surprise. Confusion swirled and he opened his mouth to speak before blinking, clamping his mouth shut and slapping away one of the boy’s hands as that voice slipped ever so gently into his mind again. “Let go!” he snarled scaring off the sentient scarf that moved to curl itself on the ground beside its master. [break][break]
He moved pulled his knife back sliding it into his back pocket, the hand reaching for a fistful of Charani’s shirt as he yanked the boy closer, practically nose to nose. “Stop. Doing. That.” He warned, eyes flashing with fury as the other witch continued to act like he wasn’t under threat. He totally was, and he was pissing Aiden off continuously. “Take your fake pity and shove it, you little snot nosed prick.” He added, not one who enjoyed being looked down. It came around enough for a person of his stature and his appearance. He’d cracked more noses than he cared to count for. [break][break]
“Now tell me where the fuck your hiding your money before I slit your fucking throat open and leave you to water the grass.” He wasn’t actually going to do that. Too much work, too dangerous in broad daylight. But a threat was a threat, and this was technically a mugging. A very unsuccessful one but you know.

He was let go for a brief moment. The scarf no longer around him as the young man grabbed a fistful of his clothing and brought him close. They were very close in fact as the young man threatened him slapping his hand away. Is this how the unclean usually reacted to one of the faithful?
Upon gripping the cloth aiden emerson would be able to tell it wasn’t as nice or fancy as it appeared. It had obviously been well worn and made to appear to be of nicer material than it was. Cotton perhaps... or something similar with ribbons enchanted to look like lace..
The brown haired boy looked confused at the young mans outburst. He was really set on obtaining this money that didn’t exist. How strange. At least the boy could speak out loud now. That was a plus.
“What do you mean? Pity is for the unclean. Empathy is what I offer.” Despite the threatening hold the young man didn’t appear to be frazzled at all. Why would he be afraid? Fear was a foreign concept to those who were saved. Why fear what you cannot understand? All is the will of the Goddess.
“I do not understand? What money?” Yeah he didn’t hide his money because he didn’t have any money. The literal worst target to pick. A boy without money. Nice job. “Why do you need ‘money’? Is money that important?” The commune did not use money. There was no need. They were al family after all... related some by blood, some by circumstance, all by the grace of the Goddess. You had to be kidding right now. No reaction. None. No trembling, no crying, no alarm. He wasn’t even trying to squirm away from him. ‘Little bastard,’ he thought even if they were about the same size. Though Aiden was probably leaner. As he clenched fabric, he could already felt the well-worn softness of the other boy’s clothing. He knew enough about weaving to know this wasn’t high quality. It was well made, but not what a rich person would were. For fuck’s sake. The longer he sat here the hungrier he got. “What the fuck did you just call me?” he asked, voice rising just a decibel or two as his target seemed to get a little cockier. “I don’t want yer empathy, you condescending little cretin. I want food.” He redhead continued giving the other witch a good shake before loosening his grip just a bit. [break][break]
This was pointless. It was obvious he’d struck out now. So much for an easy target. Of course, it had been too good to be true. The boy’s questions gave him pause but he felt his irritation spiking. “Of course, it’s important. Can’t exactly slaughter my own cow and cook my own food every day.” Aiden snapped back releasing the boy from his grasp and sitting down on him tiredly. “McKenna he’s broke.” The boy announced not the least bothered that he had half the irritating boy pinned to the dirt. [break][break]
He was still irritated, and he’d already wasted enough time. Ignoring the gnawing in his stomach as it rolled in a tantrum, Aiden snapped another question at the brunette. “Who the fuck doesn’t carry pocket money when they go out.” Aiden for once, but he was poor and tired of leftovers.

“Gadjo. Outsider. Unclean. They all mean the same thing. You aren’t one of my people. That’s it.” He was confused. Maybe he was just unworldly? He was about the same age as himself so maybe he didn’t know much. It was even sadder this way then. Not even knowing he was not saved.
“Oh? If it’s food you want there are plenty of berries and nuts in the forested area over there. Most of it isn’t poisonous.” Key word: most. He couldn’t do much as the young man essentially sat on his lower half. How indecent! They were not close enough for that.
“Why not? It’s not that hard. We do it all the time. It’s kind of fun sometimes.” He and his people didn’t eat meat so that made cocking much easier though. Well except on the holy day. That was the only time they did. Only the adults too. It was a right of passage. Their first slaughter and meal as an adult. This year would be his.
“I don’t need money? Besides I kind of snuck out here without telling anyone.” Yeah he didn’t want fo stay cooped up. He wanted to explore a bit from the edges of the forest where they lived. They elders didn’t allow non adults outside the bounds of the forest normally. It was dangerous with so many unclean. MADE BY SUNBUNS

The more the witch talked the more Aiden seemed to figure out what was going on. “A church member. Gods slay me.” He said grimacing in disgust. The most useless kind of witch. Broke, and religious. He huffed at the brunette before dismissing his suggestion. “Not a plantshaper, I can’t tell what’s poison or not.” The rising fury and annoyance from before was already beginning to simmer down as quickly as it had arrived. Even more so as his stomach growled in irritation at how long this was taking. He might have to steal something from a dumpster or try o swipe a wallet from a knight sitting around the hovel. Then again, he’d done that the other day and they were probably still on guard form the incident. Ugh. [break][break]
“Because owning a cow means having money, and you obviously have none of it so neither do I.” there’s a slight pause before he added quickly. “Also, I can’t cook.” Oh for FUCK’s SAKE, a runaway too. The lowest of the low. Aiden gave Charani a shove once more before standing up and finally dusting himself off. “Alright beat it runaway, you’re of no use to me anymore, and I hate that weird voice thing you do.” He glanced over at the cream scarf clicking his tongue at it before it leapt up to life once more and bounced off the other witch’s chest before clinging to its master. Aiden carefully wrapped it around his fist before putting it back into his pouch of holding. McKenna moved to the ether, her job over. [break][break]
“Head back to your weirdo cult before someone actually kills you.” He said instead of offering an apology for attempting to mug such a naïve looking boy. At least, now he understood why he had such big eyes. He didn’t know anything at all. Believers were always such ignorant witches.

“You don’t have to be gifted with Plant Magic to tell what’s poisonous? I can’t speak to plants and I manage fine.” He just was afraid to try. Or afraid to fail. That had to be it! That’s cute. Aww.
“We have cattle back home. For milk at least. They also tend to scare away smaller creatures who’d try and steal from us..” Even if they were herbivores that didn’t stop small animals from thinking they could be a threat. Or at least not so open about their thieving.
He was shoved down and freed from the weight of the young man who had tried to mug him. With a sign he got back up into a kneeling position. Well this was an opportunity at least. Someone who could take him inside the city. A smirk crossed his face at the thought.
“You can’t cook? I could cook something for you? I wanted to see inside the city but I’ve been to nervous to go in alone. To many people.” He thought it was a fair trade. He got the see the city of the other people and aiden emerson got a meal. Well the redhead would have to procure actual ingredients first but that would be that hard right? They’d just need to find some of this... money thing.
“Yes that sounds good. Teddy grab my umbrella. Let’s go.” Yeah he wasn’t all there now was he? The canine familiar grabbed an umbrella that looks... very girlish. It fit though with the outfit. Both were somewhat worn and had obviously been taken care of fairly well. With the parasol in hand he started walking towards aiden emerson. He really wasn’t all there. MADE BY SUNBUNS

“Plantshaping would make it easier.” Aiden grumbled as he reached into his back pocket and slide his knife into a holster on his belt for it. He seemed unimpressed with the boy’s explanation. Was he a farmer? Who was this we he talked about? He’d mentioned something about his people and frankly, he’d heard enough about religious communes to know to stay firmly the hell away from any such a place least he wanted to end up a gutless sacrifice for some unknown god. “Steal yer berries an’ nuts that ye foraged? Is that it?” he asked his lips forming into a sneer. [break][break]
“I don’t have a kitchen for you to use. More importantly, I don’t like you.” Aiden stated firmly, disliking the idea of spending anymore time wit h the stranger. He couldn’t be trusted. For all he knew he still held a grudge against him for shoving him around and trying to steal from him. Not to mention he was creepy. That weird head thing was awful, and the questions were even weirder. ‘Why are you so sad?’ Ugh it still bothered him. “Grow a fuckin’ pair and go in yourself. I’ve gotta forage for my own meal now.” Aiden huffed unwilling to be an unpaid tour guide. [break][break]
“No!” the ginger almost shouted, raising his voice as he was ignored. “No- You- Stop that!” the boy ordered to no avail. He stared at the other sourly who, as most would guess coming from a religious commune, not all there. ‘McKenna, help me out here.’ He pleaded wit ha roll of his eyes. ‘Deal with it.’ She returned unmoved by her witch’s whining. “You can try to follow me but I’m leaving.” The redhead warned turning his back on the brunette. They were an odd pair to say the least. Aiden in his well-worn hoodie, leather jacket, ripped jeans and sneakers….and Charani in his well-worn…that. Definitely not something that would fit in with him or the Hovel. Not that it was his problem. With that in mind he turned around and began heading back towards the city.

“Oh? You don’t like me? But you had your hands all over me just a moment ago?” He seemed confused. Is that not what people did when they were attracted to someone. It wasn’t out of the realm from stories he heard of rougher measures being used in such circumstances either.
“Hmmm. That does pose a problem. I’m sure you can think of something. You seem somewhat intelligent after all.” The sound of his grandmother spitting out her drink in her own home plays as a cut scene for the audience.
He appeared not pleased by this idea of being followed together. Did company not help alleviate fear? He was certain it did and this other boy appeared to be alone as well. The sadness in his aura was a sure hint at this after all.
“Okay! Where are we going?” He was not listening. At all. To anything aiden emerson was saying that disagreed with his current plan. He did hear a flittering though disparaging his commune as a sacrificial cult. Rude. Partially factual but rude.
“Do you live in this city then? What’s it like? Are the buildings tall and bustling? Is it true that they pack people in small metal rooms when they misbehave?”Yeah. Aiden was for sure probably on the verge of a migraine with how many flurrying thoughts were telepathically shoved into his head. He wasn’t sure why it was so easy to communicate like this with the boy but it had to be a sign from the Goddess.
Normally he had to actively facilitate a link which grew tiring to speak to someone wordlessly. This came without strain and without a burden on his body. Aiden felt his ears burn a little. “It wasn’t like that! I was checking for money not feeling you up.” The redhead returned immediately. “Flattery doesn’t work on me, brat.” The boy spat back, narrowing his eyes at the other witch. It seemed everything he had said completely went over the guy’s head. Either he was stupid, or purposefully ignoring him since he hadn’t actually…gone through with any of his threats. “Me. Home. You. Elsewhere.” The ginger continued, attempting to shoo of his new pest though his words were smoothed over easily as the boy continued on after him. Fuck. [break][break]
Thoughts began pouring into his head, the voice belonging to the stranger. He didn’t like it at all. Too many questions he couldn’t ignore because they were being dumped directly into his brain. But he tried. Boy did he try, until halfway he found himself screaming into his own brain ‘SHUT UP!!’ and promptly turning to glare his worst evil eye at the guy. “Can you please stop putting so much shit into my head that quickly I can’t even think long enough an answer before you distract me again!” he shouted, fists balled up tight ready to punch the guy right on his nose. Maybe that would shut him up. [break][break]
“The fuck is your name anyway?” he added, holding his head as he forced the throbbing in the back of it to calm down from his blood pressure spiking. They were practically at the city gates and if the guy intended to follow him, it would only lead to bad news. He wandered pretty shitty streets after all. He could always take him home. His grandparents were probably out at the moment, in and out. No need to host the fucker any longer. Besides, he didn’t exactly want to be seen with someone as out of place as him. Honestly, he would’ve rather been stabbed by now than continue with the endless supply of talking the witch had the ability to force into his head. “I’m Aiden.” He relented, giving out his real name. He didn’t know how to guard against this weird link, so he would’ve found it out eventually. Ah, wait a moment. He paused taking a moment to visualize punching the boy in the nose to see if it had any effect on him, testing out the connection for himself.

“Oh we are going to your house? I bet it’s disorganized and eclectic and smells slightly of cinnamon.” He of course had no way of knowing if this was true or not. At least with this spell cast upon all of them he couldn’t. Besides it was more of a vanilla lemon smell that his grandparents home gave off. Or maybe that was just because she insisted on baking lemon treats whenever she knew a certain person would be there.
“Hmmm. I don’t really have any control over it. Usually I have to concentrate to send anything telepathically but it just auto sends to you? I think.” There was a way to stop it of course. It just required mana to shut it down temporarily and he didn’t really care enough to do so. It was exciting. New. Strange.
“Okay! Nice to meet you Aiden. Everyone calls me Shtar but my name is Charani... either will do.” He was not technically supposed to use his name around those not of the convent. Even in the convent they got used to calling each other by their designations not their names.
You shouldn’t think of punching someone that is rude. Of course it has no effect on the physical world but the thought does appear to Charani like flittering wisps of energy. He of course was willing to mess with the boy. He thought up an image of Aiden from earlier. Him on top of the telepath and instead of grabbing him by the collar and yelling at him he... was grabbed by the collar for an angry kiss. A small smile never left his face as he followed annoyingly close to the boy. No escape.
