this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

Today, Raven wakes up feeling hotter than usual. She is sweating so bad that her pyjamas cling to her skin. She brings a shaking hand to feel her temperature on her neck, her forehead. Oh god, why is she burning hot? She starts thinking back, replaying the previous days. Maybe she caught a cough or something, but where, and when?
She feels an itch in her throat. She swallows, and that's when she realizes her throat is dry.
The white-haired woman inches to her medicine cabinet. She grabs a potion known to cure cough. She spills some drops on the floor as she lifts the bottle up to her lips. The liquid tasted bitter that Raven's stomach recoils, wanting to empty itself. But Raven perseveres. She fixes her hair, dresses up nicely, but she is having chills so she buries herself in a wool sweater before setting off to find a doctor.
Raven starts crying the moment she sees a couple. Why is she crying? They look so sweet, Raven can almost feel her temperature rising from jealousy. Why can't she hold someone else's hand and cuddle and do things together and be happy? Then she sees another couple kissing by the shade of an oak tree and she sniffles her sobs.
The way to the nearest alchemist-physician passes by a park. Raven sits on one of the benches all too aware of the budging love in the air. "Ughhh," Raven groans. She feels sick to the core and curls up on the bench, bringing her knees up to her chest.

There are fragments of possessions
The trouble all started with a sentence -- this sentence, to be precise.
Raziel's gaze darts up at the unexpected display of blueish text, immediately concerned both by its ominous implications and the fact that it just now referred to them by name. Not knowing what the text (or, rather the writer of the text) might be able to perceive, they close their account book with a decisive snap in the hope that they might maintain some shred of secrecy. Regrettably, the Writer was already well aware of the Court merchant's business practices which skirted the edges of the law's grasp and fully disregarded every moral compass whenever they could get away with it.
The merchant's eyes narrow at the damningly apt description, and assume the words to be a threat posed by a magically talented mischief-maker. "What do you want?" they ask out loud, safely alone in their office with no one (aside from the Writer) to overhear. But they do not receive an answer, much to their mounting frustration.
Rather than attempt to return to work in the midst of a potential security breach, Raziel stands and stomps ("It is not stomping," they lie under their breath, but soften their footfalls all the same) down to the first floor. "Can you see this?" they ask the front desk secretary without preamble, their tone schooled to express urgency rather than frustration as they point at the floating text which continued to scroll past their vision. The secretary, however, has a lost sort of look, verbally stumbling before apologizing: "Sorry, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be seeing--"
"That answers my question. Thank you," Raziel replies as they grab their double breasted jacket, wasting no time with small talk, "It would seem an athenian thought it entertaining to project a narration of my activities in to my head. Though it seems more childish than malicious, I'm heading out to see a purifier just to be safe."
The secretary nods, and notes that they'll reschedule the meetings on Raziel's calendar. The merchant thanks them again out of politeness, then leaves.
---
Raziel is more than halfway to their destination before the floating narration progresses further, causing them to scowl ("It is not a scowl," they silently lie to themselves as they mute their expression).
But, were it not for the Writer mentioning it, they likely would have failed to notice the suffering of their not-quite-friend who had been traveling along a similar route. Raziel stops in their tracks and peels their eyes away from the words to scan the park, fearing some sort of trap. But, seeing as the first familiar figure he sees is Raven of all people, they conclude that a mind-invading witch should have been able to pick a better person to decieve them with.
Even so, they approach with some amount of caution, taking their time in sitting down next to the singer and making sure there was just enough space between them to allow for them to jump away if she lashed out. Even an emotionally stunted dimwit would have been able to tell that she was not okay, so the merchant skips that question and instead uses a more direct approach: "How can I help?"

Raven only spends a few minutes hugging her knees to her chest and staring blankly ahead before a near-whisper reaches her ears. Raven blinks, head slowly turning to look at Raziel.
Golly gee.
Instead of answering--don't get her wrong, Raven really does want to answer Raziel that her chest hurts and somehow she wants to murder all the couples loitering in this godforsaken park--Raven bites her bottom lip, hard, enough to draw blood, as she tries to stifle a cough. The discomfort is evident on Raven's face. She waits for a few moments before attempting to take a breath. Once she does, all her efforts went to waste. She at least has the decency to face away from Raziel as violent fits rattles her chest, attempting to dislodge whatever is stuck in her throat.
Coming out of mouth are angry red petals. They flutter about in the air, just slightly wet with saliva. For the first time this morning, Raven actually takes a deep breath.
"I don't know what's wrong with me. My chest hurts and my stomach wants to hurl," Raven says after the episode. "I think I just coughed petals. Do you think I coughed out petals? Tell me I'm wrong, please." And Raven doesn't know if she's actually expecting Raziel to tell her 'no, you did not,' and call it a day, but Raven stares at the fellow Knight with panic growing inside of her.
