this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
The pinkette sees the other witches seeming to agree with her over fleeing, or they were agreeing to themselves about breaking away from the scene. Jelly looks around, trying to find an exit. But... why does the house of mirrors have to be so complicated? The only things she could see right now are the broken mirrors and shards on the ground reflecting their faces of worry or panic.
Then she turns to the direction of the girl and its familiar. They don't seem to be attacking anymore... the bubble Percy had created was finally popped from existence, letting the girl land on the floor and be in the care of her familiar. The large goat picked her up with his teeth, and before she knew it, they were gone.
The Leviathan witch blinks, trying to see if what she just saw a while ago was just a hallucination or reality. She shook her head and turned to the other witches. Minor cuts everywhere, but they seem to be fine for now... she looks back to the direction where the goat and the girl left off. Was it safe to wander through there, she wondered?
Looking another time back at her other comrades, she huffs and follows after where the goat had gone, then slows to a halt when she arrives at the area. There were candles lit on the walls, making it quite bright for her and the other witches (if they followed) to go through the area without a problem. She looks over to the ground and sees a hole, with the goat's footprint on the floor.
So there is a room underneath the floor we are standing right now...
Before she could even delegate what information she had gathered, a voice suddenly erupts her mind, loud enough to make her flinch. It was forcing itself into her brain, wanting her to hear it...
"Come, children. Bring me my key."
...Key!
So this was what the girl was talking about! Some other person... entity... whatever, wanted a 'key'... but for what? What does he want with it? And most importantly, where was it?
She sighed and turned her head to the ceiling. Whoever this voice was, he might be hearing them right now. "Wh-What key?" She asks, with a shiver running down her spine. "Where can we find this key? And why do you want it?"
Then she remembered the girl and her familiar. "And where is the girl? What are you going to do with her?"
TL;DR: Currently with the other witches, wanting to go down the room where the goat had disappeared into, hears voice and tries to ask where the key is.

The goat breaks through the building, and Percy could feel how it shatters through the very foundation of the structure. Now that Percy pays enough attention and has considerably calmed down he could see the interior of the House of Mirrors. Slowly his eyes adjust to the dark, and the stars show themselves in their brilliance. Percy knows it must be a trick of the eye and the mind, made so by careful interior planning.
Still, it doesn't ease his nerves. This house still has something Percy doesn't like, including its creepy ambiance, the ghost girl and its huge familiar.
But as much as he doesn't like it he can't just go on his own and leave the group behind. He needs to survive. And so he finds himself slowly inching towards the girl, and sure enough he passes by the hole on the floor.
It's pitch black, and it radiates emptiness.
Or rather, is it really empty? Percy carefully skirts around the hole and creeps towards the wall again. When his back touches the wall, that is the only time Percy takes the liberty to take a huge breath.
"God damn it," he curses.
To make things worse, now he finds himself hearing a voice in his head--and it isn't Seraph, unfortunately. It's the key again, and Percy is getting tired of it. The pinkette indulges the creep, asking the needed questions. Percy appreciates that, and so he tries to wait patiently for the voice to boom back its reply.
His throat seems to constrict as the tense seconds pass. His heart thuds wildly against his ribcage. Finally, the illusionist just can't handle it. "We'll find it!" he yells... and his voice dies as he realizes they are in fact, at the mercy of the whole situation.
In no more than a whisper, Percy says, "What would happen if we don't find it?" The girl needs it, and the creep needs it even more. The girl wants to go inside the house, now they are in. At first he thinks the key is for opening this house... He looks at the child, and then to her familiar who towers over her frail body.
Now what?

The house of mirrors was a place that they were now in. They'd all managed to get their butts inside it seemed with a giant hole in the floor where that goat thing had probably damaged the property. You know what they say... bull in a china shop or something to that effect. She wasn't exactly sure since she'd never been rich enough to afford china. Well that wasn't totally true but that's a story for another time.
The inside of the house of mirrors is dimly lit by strings of small lights that kind of reminded her of her stardust type magic. It was kind of pretty... you know minus the serial killer funhouse vibe this place had going. Well at least there were a lot of people around here to be picked off first since it was usually the girls who made it the longest in those kinds of movies. Plus it meant she got to punch some things which was always a plus.
There was a slight headache forming above her temple as a voice forced itself into her mind. She could hear it whispering to her about a key or something like that. It was super annoying and kind of made her not that happy. She sighed as the group become confused and all began talking and speaking to the voice. "This ain't no damn fetch quest ya lazy ass ghost voice." she said being... well annoyed at this whole thing. The hell was this shit. She should have just stayed away and gone to bed.
"This is giving me a headache. Who do we need to punch for a damn key?" she huffed as she cracked her knuckles. The glow of her strengthening magic visible on her back that looked to be the shape of a bear? She shook her head and looked down into the other room below. "I take it going down will help. Whatever. Buckle up boys." She pointed this statement while staring most at percival grayreme and aiden emerson. Thankfully she had wings so going down the hole into the other room would be easy for her no matter how far of a drop it was. It was probably time to go down the hole or something. That made the most sense right? Damn ghosts and keys. This was so annoying.
Aiden stands up, careful to shake off glass bits off of his body. He grimaced at the lacerations on his clothes and the few cuts on his hands and face. Nothing too serious. He felt itchy but the stinging had worn off for the most part. McKenna nudged him as he glanced around the dimly lit area. He blinks a few times, before wiping his eyes. In an instant, Detection reactivates and his neck cranes as he locks onto the source of purple energy once again. The voice is of no concern to him, now that his suspicions begin to mount. This is the work of multiple criminals and he intended to get to the bottom of it. “Calm down you to. This is just an elaborate trick. Something else is going on.” He snapped as the pair of Leviathans proceeded to semi-panic over the sudden voice in their heads. It made him shiver, but his skepticism overrode what would’ve been terror.
He nodded at Siobhan. “The key’s not important. Figuring out what’s wrong with the girl is. Whatever is making her familiar go crazy is in this house. I need to figure out a way to purify it.” He explained before pointing a finger into the air and beginning to describe the purple energy that had been flowing around the girl and her familiar and leading inside. He looked around, more concerned with following the trail once more. He takes a moment to look back down the way they came for zombies before looking over at the augmenter. “Staying on the move would probably be a good idea too.” He paused, thinking twice before he ordered them to clear out. It wasn’t very safe outside either. He decided this was a good moment to introduce themselves, before they went any further. “I’m Aiden, from the Helios Knights. I was sent here to investigate you.” He explains hoping to clarify his actions from earlier. He waited politely for introductions, if there were any.
As his eyes adjusted to the light, McKenna stepped forward, padding lightly on the area around the hole in the ground. Her ghostly eyes trailing over their companions to get a better look at them before staring down at the hole. “Stable.” She calls, though her voice is soft to all that hear it. Aiden gets closer before giving her a nod and the gazelle drops gracefully, disappearing bellow. Aiden moves in onto the edge, eyes on his silvery partner. He hears her whisper in his mind for an immediately mutters something under his breath. In the blink of an eye, Aiden is gone and he’s replaced by McKenna. There’s a soft thump at the bottom of the floor and although probably no one can see it, he totally landed in a three-point stance. “Hurry.” The familiar commands to the witch’s leftover before dematerializing and appearing moments later by her witch’s side. Aiden’s tense as he tried to get a better look around the room.

The deeper into the house of mirrors the group goes, more noise fills their minds: first breathing, then the deep beat of a heart. One could only assume that they were getting closer to whatever was at the core of this mystery. [break][break] The mind-voice does not reply to their questions (or insults) immediately. The group is met merely with asynchronous breaths and beats, getting louder and louder. They may notice that the sounds of the goat's crashing against mirrors and structural beams has halted, though they couldn't pinpoint exactly when it occurred. But it doesn't matter. All that matters is the Key. [break][break] aiden emerson, upon descending to the lower level of the house, would realize a few important things. First, there didn't seem to be any staircases or trap doors leading back to the above-ground level. The only door, in fact, seemed to be the gently-glowing stone one on the far side of the room. Runes, gems, indecipherable script adorned its face, elaborate enough to seal off an emperor's tomb... or, perhaps a path to paradise? Its most prominent feature by far, however, was the largest carved word at its head: [break][break] ‧ METNAL ‧ [break][break] And at the foot of that door is none other than Rafik Bousa'id, still breathing, but otherwise completely unresponsive. On the ground next to him is his MYSTERIOUS TRINKET. You find your eyes drawn to this particular item. It is important. The most important thing here. And it looks like it would be a perfect fit for an indent in that door... [break][break] "Tʜᴇ ɢɪʀʟ ɪs ᴏғ ɴᴏ ᴄᴏɴsᴇǫᴜᴇɴᴄᴇ. Tʜᴇ ᴋᴇʏ ɪs ᴀʟʀᴇᴀᴅʏ ʜᴇʀᴇ... Bʀɪɴɢ ɪᴛ ᴛᴏ ᴍᴇ."

She could hear the voice talking to them again, and for a moment she wanted to reply back, but the other witches were going replying to it with their own opinions and expressions. She grinned and looked up at the ceiling, smiling devilishly at whoever was speaking. Now that would teach them a lesson. She could agree with the black-haired girl on this one; this isn't a game for them to hurry, to be sure.
She stood up and followed the other witches into the hole that they were about to enter. When the Helios Knights introduced himself as Aiden, she turned to him and shrugged. "I'm not really sure if this is a good time for introductions, but... yeah, the name's Jelly Parim from Leviathan. Again, nice to meet you all in here." She replied, walking with the other witches into the darkness.
"Dammit, it's dark..." She mumbled to herself, then grinned and puffed her chest. "...just the way I like it." Well, Jelly had always loved the dark, so no one could really blame her at this point.
Then they stumble upon a door, making Jelly raise an eyebrow at its appearance. "Metnal... what does that even mean?" She asks herself, touching the words engraved on the said door.
But behind the said door was the long-red haired guy from earlier, unconscious. Her eyes widened at the sight of the red-haired man. "Holy cowson, what happened...?" She then turns to the floor beside him and sees... a trinket. Something that looks really important. Jelly couldn't take her eyes off the peculiar item, but she knew... she knew that somehow one of them should take it.
Then the voice echoes inside her head once again, and by the next moment she already knew what the trinket meant.
"Guys, that trinket... it's the key this ghost is talking about."
TL;DR: Currently with the other witches, wanting to go down the room where the goat had disappeared into, hears voice and tries to ask where the key is.
Aiden only made a face as Jelly noted she was actually from Leviathan. Something he doubted, but he made McKenna take note of the name anyway. He’d just pass that along to someone higher to deal with. He took note of the door, the looming structure taking up most of his attention until his familiar nudged him and swerved closer to the witch on the ground. “Oh no-” the knight murmurs, eyes widening as he made a beeline for the witch. “Hey. Wake up.” He ordered though his words are coated with concern as he knelt down and roughly shook the young man. He checks for breathing before raising his hand and administering a good slap. “We have to go, get up.” Aiden added as the voice in their heads spoke up again.
His eyes were drawn back to the mysterious trinket and he glances at McKenna unsure of what to do. He didn’t think it’d be easy to transport the unconscious witch. It would take him time. He didn’t trust the people with him. He doubted they’d be willing to help unless offered something in return. This was so much beyond just a simple romp in the fairgrounds after dark. He didn’t want to obey a voice he knew was full of it. Then again, could he really say no? There was an unconscious witch next to him, a group of skittish witches near him, and to his knowledge, a hoard of zombies roaming the grounds upstairs. Could he really say with confidence that if he left now he’d find help quickly? “McKenna, stick to him.” He states. The gazelle’s head turns sharply to him and he senses the vaguest hint of worry emanate from her. “I’m opening it then.” He says as he turns his attention to the other witches. “Unless, you can move him out of this shithole.” Aiden adds, nodding over at Rafiq’s body.

Great, now they have to go down the shithole, huh? He is the last to move, waiting for everyone else to lower themselves down before sighing and encasing himself in a bubble and directing it down. He pops it, then, and safely lands on the floor... and his eyes automatically are attracted to the light. Who would have thought that this fun place houses something unspeakable, eh?
He is more than happy to let the Knight direct them, having no will to help in any way. He is beginning to regret staying--he should have just bolted right from the start. But it's too late, so he is forced into thinking what the heck is Metnal, and why is the boy from before is suddenly here, unconscious. Percy sort of lost track of him as he focuses on not getting stabbed by glass.
"Percy," he manages. Other than that response, he stays in the back, not minding the pinkette revealing she is from Leviathan. Either she's really brave or really stupid to drop the coven's name to a Knight of all people. He ignores her comment. Percy wants nothing to do with her, or to any of the group.
But... fine. Jelly keeps asking questions and commenting on stuff, but not actually doing anything it seems. Percy sighs, before creating another bubble to encase the unconscious with. "Well, I'm getting him back up," Percy says as Seraph directs the bubble to the upper floor, away from the mess the group is.
He doesn't have the slightest idea of the "key," so to speak, so he doesn't say much except shooting the Knight a pointed look. "Finally we arrive at this 'key,' huh. I have no idea what Metnal is, for all I care it could be a portal to another world. Go ahead and open it." It's hard having no choice, though, and that door is really enticing...

The girl is of no importance. Just like a weak man to say that... or was it a man? It was hard to tell when it was just a voice inside of your head. Things tended to go askew when magic like that was involved. Telepathy and such. What was going on now? Oh right annoying shit. How could she forget.
There was a girl from leviathan or at least said she was so she lying or stupid. There was the annoying pretty boy who called himself Percy and the possibly homosexual red head who annoyed her the least so far. Well at least as far as boys go. "I usually go by ahhhh its the girl who punched me or Siobhan. Either works." Hey it wasn't her fault so many people deserved to be punched. She might enjoy it a bit to much but still.
The knight was going on about the man on the ground and doing some cpr type thing. He seemed to be breathing and to be honest she wasn't very good with the whole gentle touch of a healer thing. She could however give a good wakeup slap. She cracked her knuckles as she moved closer to the door and the boys. "Want me to try and wake him?" His face wouldn't look so pretty afterwords but it could be worth a shot. Before anything actually happened though she was distracted by the voice and the key.
"So it wants this key? I'm just gonna assume this voice is evil so like... should be break the key? That'd probably piss it off," she said with a huge smirk on her face and a mischievous glint in her eye. The gay one looked like he was willing to open the door though and that seemed kind of like a bad idea. A very bad idea that would probably play out because this always happened. Like this was a damn light novel or something.
The deeper into the house of mirrors the group goes, more noise fills their minds: first breathing, then the deep beat of a heart. One could only assume that they were getting closer to whatever was at the core of this mystery. [break][break] percival grayreme successfully manages to return Rafik to the ground floor of the house of mirrors via his Bubble spell. Rafik, although alive, is very much unresponsive to being moved. [break][break] If aiden emerson were to take a closer look at the door, he'd find that there were three indents in the center of the elaborate stone structure. Only one of them appeared to match Rafik's particular trinket. Picking up the trinket is no issue -- however, if he does, the intensity of the voice in his head increases markedly, asking -- no, demanding -- that the Key be returned. [break][break] Whatever being had been communicating with them mentally seemed to become enraged mere moments after Siobhan Kasparian's suggestion to break the trinket. A shrill, inhuman screeching sliced through their minds and caused vertigo to consume them. There were no words anymore -- only a darkness creeping into their vision and a tiredness seeping into their bodies. The screeching does not stop, nor does the vertigo, nor the ever-growing feeling that they are going to pass out if this gets any worse.

Jelly's existence seems to have been unacknowledged right now, but she feels all mutual. The red-haired man is successfully taken by Percy's bubble to the entrance of the hall of mirrors upstairs. She shrugs but then starts to contemplate her decisions in life. Why'd she get here in the first place, why she revealed her coven to a Knight of all people.
Jelly sighs to herself as she listens to the others make a few suggestions. Like for example, that girl named Siobhan suggested that they break the trinket, which for Jelly was going to be a good idea if you want to get this figure in their heads mad. Then her conscience is telling her that she shouldn't bother talking to them if they'd just stay silent there.
But suddenly, after their talk about the trinket, the voice inside their head shouts loudly as a final retort. This thing was deafening Jelly to infinity, even more deafening than the ghost girl's shouting. She ducked her head and covered her ears, closing her eyes to withstand the pain. Shit! She cursed under her breath, slowly trying to stand up while the shouting still conquered her mind.
Post by percival grayreme on Jun 28, 2018 14:24:07 GMT
To Percy Siobhan seems to be joking. She probably is. She should be joking. But to the voice her words are provocation and it does not take them too easily. A sharp voice pierces the Leviathan's mind and he shuts his eyelids close and covers his ears--all in vain. He stands his ground, stance tightening as vertigo sways him. The sound makes it unable to focus on anything. His sense of direction
So he does the first thing that comes into mind. He encases himself inside a bubble, and just before he jumps in he yells to the Knight, "DROP THE KEY! LET'S GET OUT OF HERE!" Percy manages to jump into the bubble, and slumps against its sturdy sheet. Both the witch and familiar wobbles, and needless to say the aimless bouncing of the bubble just makes Percy dizzier.
"Ugh..." he groans. He cracks an eye open as he attempts to make sense of his surroundings. He feels strangely tired. He wants to sleep. His head hurts and his ears ring and his thoughts run wild. Return the key, the voice says without words. What key? Ah, right, the mysterious fragment. But aren't they about to go into a parallel universe just a few minutes ago? Aw, they can't do it now? Cracks appear in Percy's vision as he steadily grows more and more disoriented by the minute.
Everything still doesn't make sense.

Shoot an apple off my head and a Trouble that can't be named A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing Confusion that never stops The closing walls and the
He’s curious as to what Metnal is and how its connected to the web of zombies outside or the girl with the ram. The apparition? He wasn’t sure what she was. But he smelled a rat and he had half a mind to prove it. He needed to investigate more, just not with civilians present. He sighed in relief, happy that Percy was able to do what he couldn’t. Good, now if they could all evacuate the premises quickly. He looks down at the trinket and back at the door, and takes a tentative step forward before Siobhan suggests destroying it. While he’s compelled not to, he turns to her interested in her reason. She doesn’t give them, interrupted by the shrill voice cutting into his brain. He recoiled at the sound, clamping his fists on his ears.
Percy screams as well and he’s compelled to do just that. Run. McKenna darts forward for the key, yanking it from Aiden’s grasp with rough, and trembling movements. She dematerializes but the trinket drops to the ground. “FUCK!” he yells, looking over at the rest. “Percy, take Jelly with you.” He snaps, as the girl seems frozen in agony. He can barely focus with all the noise, McKenna reappears, aware that she’s the only back up Aiden has. “Siobhan smash!” he says, barely coherent as he tossed her the mysterious trinket. She could punch really hard, hopefully that would carry over in crushing metal. If not they were basically playing one wicked game of hot potato at this point. “While we run!” he adds even if he has no idea where to yet. He looks for Percy, their possibly ticket out of this literally screaming hell hole but can’t keep track of the bubble and all the weird directions it bounces in. His eyelids feel heavy but he tries to stay awake, leaning on a wall an banging his fist into the wall hoping the pain would keep him awake.

The voice got louder upon her suggestion that they crush the trinket. Well obviously they should do that then... whatever this was seemed to be...not friendly in the least. Therefore it was probably evil and breaking what it wanted seemed like the best course of action. Maybe it was some kind of demonic force that was trying to summon itself or unseal itself? Then breaking a key would keep it inside right?
"For witches sake, that noise..." The screech was piercing her ears even though it wasn't an audible sound it was that annoying and loud inside her mind. She could feel her body starting to grow fatigued as well as her vision starting to fail her. This had to be whatever that creature or voice was so as to stop them from breaking it's shit. Well fuck you she now had more resolve to break that shit then ever. Nobody tells her what to do. NOBODY!
The knight threw the trinket at her, using her left hand to catch the damn thing she poured her mana into that hand casting two more spells and expending quite a bit of mana to boot. She was going to probably hurt in the morning from mana exhaustion but whatever this was worth it. In addition to the ursa spell she added canus to further increase her strength. "Screw you I'm breaking this!" the black haired girl shouted as she added her fire magic to the mix with Melt to heat up the key thing and make it easier to break.
The whole group was running. She held her grip on strong trying her hardest to snap the damn thing in half or heck maybe quarters as the voice shrieked at her probably telling her to stop... probably trying to force it's will on her. She was way to mad to even think about anything besides running and trying to break the thing. This was going to turn out badly but she didn't care. All that mattered now was breaking this damn thing because some dumb voice told her not too. Fuck you voice.
percival grayreme, the first to flee, is able to catch a glimpse of the situation outside (albeit blurred by his wavering vision). Rather than the undead scourge which had been shambling around just a few short minutes earlier, there was nothing there but unresponsive corpses scattered about the park. The questions of how long they'd been down and whether or not the situation was temporary did not have obvious answers. Even so, escape from the building was just an arm's reach away... [break][break] aiden emerson, brave Aiden, finds himself all turned around as he begins his escape, deceived by the mirrors' labyrinth. He's surrounded by countless reflections of himself, all his pain from the mental shrieking. The longer he tries to find his way out, the more he starts to notice that the too many duplicates of himself and McKenna were looking his way, given the positions of the mirrors. Too many had a murderous gaze. [break][break] @jail, eyes closed and unseeing, feels another body brush against her arm and hears light feet stumble past. "No no no no no 'm sorry, sorry, shouldn't have trusted... shouldn'tve let him leave... no, no..." mutters the cadaverous young girl from earlier as she tries to make her way further in to the hellish house. She does not give Jelly any thought, gaze laser-focused on the trinket in Siobhan's grasp. [break][break] The assault on Siobhan Kasparian's mind only amplifies as she casts spell after spell to ensure the destruction of this precious trinket. "ʏᴏᴜ ᴜsᴇʟᴇss ᴡᴏʀᴍs ᴅᴏɴ'ᴛ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ᴡʜᴀᴛ ʏᴏᴜ'ʀᴇ ᴅᴏɪɴɢ, I ᴡɪʟ̀ʟ̴ ̸ʀᴇ̵ɴᴅ͡ ҉ʏᴏ̵̛̀ᴜ̛͝ʀ͢͠͏ ̡͞ғ̷ʟ҉ᴇ͢͠s͏ʜ̢͜ ̵ғ͘ʀ̡͞҉́͡ᴏ̴̷̕͢ᴍ̀҉̵҉ ͜͡҉͜ʏ̀̀̕͝ᴏ̷͘͢ᴜ͏͜ʀ͘͟͞͠ ͏̨ʙ̵̕͜ᴏ̛̛ɴ̸̧͡ᴇ̧s̵̸̨͟͝.̶́͢͜" the voice roars into her mind just before her fist charges downwards. She makes impact, feels the structure of the item give way... [break][break] And then there is silence. [break][break] The group can no longer feel the screaming in their minds, nor see the house of mirrors surrounding them. Each is alone in a graveyard, with undead reaching up from the ground and pulling them in. Even if the witch were to try and fight, their strength and numbers would become overwhelming. Each witch watches their flesh be torn and crushed as their perception pulls away from their body like they were in some sort of nightmare. The eyes of their corpse flash open, and suddenly, they are consumed by darkness. [break][break] --------------------- [break][break] The group wakes up the next day in the hospital. If they were to ask, they'd been found passed out in a half-destroyed house of mirrors. Most of them were physically in-tact, but the child, the previously-missing Chrystanthemum Blackburn, had fractured her spine when she fell unconcious next to the hole to the basement. She is not allowed to have any visitors, due to her unstable and volatile nature. Amagika Park has been closed temporarily, and is the site of an active investigation by the Helios Knights. They do not find any trace of the trinket. [break][break] With more questions than answers, a dismal atmosphere clings to Sundial's city.
