this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
Everyone looked really unstable today, and Jelly didn't even know who the heck they were in the first place. But all she knew was that this girl needed serious help. As she let herself fly towards the door, begging someone -- anyone -- to open the door up, she suddenly felt a little sympathy for her. She knew how the girl felt. If Jelly clearly remembered, she was trapped by her mother like that once.
The Leviathan witch sighed, then ran up to the girl and held on to both her shoulders. "Hey, it's okay, kid. Take it easy. Calm down." She whispered, blue eyes staring deep into those terrified ones. "Take it easy, okay? Calm down. Try to remember what that key looked like. Then we can get you out of here. We can get us out of here. Okay? Now calm down."
Once that was all settled, she turned to the other witches with a raised eyebrow. "Okay, so... can anyone still tell me what just happened here and why this girl is being like this?" She asked, turning back to the girl with a worried look. "Because you guys need help. All of us need help. Especially this little girl here."

The child... seems to be uncooperative, and Percy doubts talking would do anything to ease this girl's paranoia. He rolls her eyes at Naomi's and Rafik's spite, while watches silently as the Jelly an Aeliana tries to console her. The house seems to be divided, and it's up to Percy to tip the boat. And so he coughs to get everyone's attention.
"She won't listen," Percy says as a matter of fact. His attention is now on Jelly. "Well for me, I was just walking around looking for my sister when they arrive... and suddenly we see this girl tripping on her feet. We came and help."
The Leviathan witch shakes his head. "We've been trying to talk to her forever, it's apparent she won't answer with reason anyhow. You guys might as well prepare yourself for whatever's behind those doors. Let's open it."
There is a mixture of fear and excitement as Percy walks to the door. "Ease up, kid," he says to the girl, gently pushing her ghostly body to the Aeliana. Percy then calls Seraph, who appears with an explosion of white plume. Se would appear floating in a blob of water. Together, the witch and the familiar conjures a WATER DRAGON BULLET and hurls it to the door, full impact expected.
They would do it once, twice, thrice, and if the door wouldn't budge, they would stop at the fourth try. "This door's tough," Percy would say sourly, statement directed at the child. "Why won't you say what's inside of this thing?"

[attr="class","onlytimeleft"] Naomi might hate the kid, but she didn't really expect someone to actively attack the poor thing. There wasn't really enough time to care either way, and the kid didn't seem to mind, so she let it go. [break][break] The other girls were a lot nicer in general, so Naomi left them to handle the kid. Get her to chill out. maybe then they could go find a knight or somebody whose job it is to care about random strangers. The last time Naomi tried to help might have left her a little bitter about all of this. [break][break] Certainly more paranoid than before. She didn't like all this talk of whatever 'it' was being close by, but if it was really a threat, leaving now wouldn't really help. Better to stick with this, maybe hide behind the little ghost of a girl if necessary. [break][break] "Uh..." Naomi raised a hand as she backed away from the door, but wasn't really interested in finishing that thought. Should she have offered to help? It felt like such a waste to have someone like Percy try to bash this door in, when Naomi practically specialized in breaking things. [break][break] By now it was too late to bring that up, and she didn't want to take away from his desire to smash stuff. it can be very therapeutic. Why rob him of one of the simple joys in life? [break][break][break]
"No-- NO!" the girl screams, voice cracking in response to being told to calm down, "You don't understand! If I don't find it I'm going to die!" The panic in her eyes and tone of voice seemed genuine -- at the very least, she appeared to truly believe what she was saying. "How... how can you not hear it..?" she says, voice quieter now as shaky fingers tug anxiously at her scalp. She stumbles backwards as percival grayreme pushes her aside, falling weakly against Aeliana D. N. Constantine . Though she looks on expectantly as the water elementalist begins to attack the door, hope fades from her eyes as it doesn't budge. "I told you... I... I don't know..." she quietly answers Percy about what's inside, "A lock... and a key... and a prison... I don't know what it means..." Her eyes begin to lose focus as she tugs more obsessively at her hair, eyes wide and glistening.
[break][break]At the entrance of the park, aiden emerson has just been approached by a higher-ranking Knight who just explained (perhaps too briefly) that various structures all over Sundial were collapsing for unknown reasons and the Knights were attempting to do damage control by getting everyone to safety. At that moment was when the girl screamed at Jail, followed soon after by the sound of a collapsing building in the other direction. Allowing no pause for Aiden's input, the Knight instructs Aiden to investigate the screams from the park while he makes sure no one was trapped under the rubble of the collapsed building.
[break][break]As Aiden and Siobhan Kasparian (perhaps drawn in by the girl's screams, or by her pretty boy radar) approach the group, the ground behind them shifts. They may have thought it a trick of the dim light at first, but would soon be corrected when a dozen rotting humanoid arms spring from their resting place, moving as if to pull up the rest of their body from the earth.
The Leviathan witch gasps in surprise when the girl shouts at her, shouting at her that she did not understand at all. Then the girl whispers, asking how Jelly couldn't hear anything at all. Jelly sighs and sits down as the girl tumbles into Aeliana's arms, listening to Percy as he explains how the girl doesn't want to talk. "Oh... really..." She could only say quietly, staring at the girl with anxious eyes.
Jelly then notices the dark-haired woman trying to say something, but just ends up with an 'uh...'. "Hmm? You wanted to say something?" She asks, her head tilted towards Naomi. She then turns back to the girl. "It's okay. We're not gonna let you die." I think because you're already dead, she was about to add, but she didn't want to anger the girl any further. "We're gonna find that key or whatever. But for now we'll just have to... wait."
Just then, a sudden noise came from outside, making Jelly perk her head up. "Did something just crash?" She asked, then turned to a nearby window. A hopeful smile crossed her lips. "And look! Outside there are two people coming this way! And--"
Then strange hand-like appendages emerge from the ground, making her gasp. "Uh oh... while we're here trapped inside, those two are gonna be pulled down to the earth by insane undead hands; where did those even come from?!" Her face was already contorted with doubt. "I guess both parties already need some serious help right now..."

The night sky was so pretty right now. It was like being in a cocoon of shadows with just enough light to be able to see everything around you but nothing more. Sure she could use some fire magic to increase her field of vision with... you know the light of flames but that took up valuable punching mana. Who'd do that? Exactly.
There was a scream. A girl's scream. That was what caused Siobhan to make her way into the amusement park this late at night. To be fair she lived fairly close to this place so it wasn't exactly that out of her way to be here late at night. That and something else blurred past her like it was on a mission with firey red hair and the wafting aura of gay that seemed to attract this girl. Okay exaggeration but not totally as the scream seemed to make whoever that person was... who looked like a boy not much older than herself... dart off in the direction of the middle of the damn fairground place thing. Whatever this shithole was.
She ran after the boy who she wasn't totally sure had noticed her or not but what she did notice was something was for sure happening behind her. The girl turned her head back, slowing a little bit in her movements to see what looked like decaying hands popping up from the ground behind them. Nope.
Nope. Nope. N to the O to the P to the Exit this conversation. Why were there zombie things coming up in this damn park? Also why were there dead bodies buried under an amusement park? What kind of dark ass place is this? It was probably some old man who was like 'I got this place real cheap it was an ancient burial ground where all the other owners died haha' or something like that.
The young lady and her little cutie familiar were totally noping it out towards the group in front of her because you don't screw with dead people. Nope. She just needed to punch whoever was doing this and it'd stop right? That was totally how these things work. Yup. "Who ordered a zombie apocalypse!?" she shouted as she made her way towards both the red haired boy in front of her and the group that seemed to be comprised of mostly girls, a boy who looked like he deserved to be throat punched and a girl who looked like she was cosplaying as a skeleton but like in clothes. Isn't this lovely.

The door doesn't bust open as Percy had expected, and on the fifth attempt, he gives up. "Sorry for that girlie, looks like you won't be getting inside anytime soon," Percy nonchalantly informs her. It seems that she knows, but is still disappointed. Percy is about to think of anything they could do for her, when she suddenly screams. It's an earsplitting scream, and Percy barely hears the distant stones and blocks crashing to the ground.
What the hell is her problem? Now he himself is getting annoyed.
"My ears hurt..." Percy says as he rubs his head. Sarcastically he looks at the ghost-girl, who seems to be turning paler as the night stretches on. Maybe it's the sleep finally kicking in, but who knows. "Next time, warn us before tearing your vocal chords apart. We're trying to help, not trying to get deaf."
Jelly then mentions two people coming at them, and Percy sighs. Looks like he's getting sued by sneaking into the park, now the girl has caught the attention of the authorities. At least, he would be able to sidetrack them, put the blame on someone else... and... are those hands popping out of the ground...?
A blink. And another. Yes, they are indeed hands. The two reaches them, somehow, and the raven-haired woman has the guts to be sarcastic at this time. "Certainly not any of us here," he courteously informs her, before turning to the girl. A glance at Seraph, and the the witch and familiar begins to create large bubble. It descends to the girl before fully enveloping her. Whatever her reaction would be, Percy would just say, "You'll be safe there." Once her body's inside, she would find herself floating inside the bubble, the hands unable to touch her.
"You know what we should do?" Percy says, addressing her seemingly frozen companions. "I think we should run."

Shoot an apple off my head and a Trouble that can't be named A tiger's waiting to be tamed, singing Confusion that never stops The closing walls and the
He’s not breathing hard, feet pounding on dark pavement as he runs in the direction of the screams. McKenna was easily dashing beside him, anchored to her witch by concern after the sound of collapsing building thundered through the air. What had been meant to be a simple patrol had severely escalated. It always seemed to happen this way. He spotted a group of people up ahead and called out the typical knightly questions. “Who was screaming? What’s going on?” the ginger asked, speaking loudly with authority. He frowned worriedly at the group as his familiar circled them, making her own private notes and observations. As the ground ripples and hands in various states of decay shoot up and out of the ground, Aiden flinched his leg moving out to punt a hand away and simultaneously check if it was some kind of illusion.
“Who knows.” He says to Siobhan as she runs up, noting the very strange very unreal phenomenon. Despite his initial shock, he’s in disbelief, and eager to investigate. McKenna is already on it, zipping through the hands while using Hover to stay just out of reach. The gazelle zigzags through the dead limbs searching for an end or safe zone to move to. The other witches begin acting and Aiden nods at the water user. “Seconding that!” he states as he attempts to kick another hand. He activates Detection as he begins moving out of hand grabbing distance and briefly wishes his element were something more destructive, like fire. Green eyes scan the ground aiming to stomp on skeletal hands while also trying to figure out where the magic was coming from.
Guess it wouldn't be so easy to get past the locked door. Although, if this key led to some sort of jail cell, maybe it was a good thing that nobody could open it. kid didn't really have a good reason for poking around, aside from shutting her up. Naomi did kind of wonder what could be so important, but she was officially done being useful tonight. I mean, the last time Naomi tried to mysterious girl with a locked room she almost got beaten to death, so she wasn't about to walk into that trap again.[break][break]
More people showing up should have been her cue to back out and let one of them take over...but then zombies happened. There went any hopes of having a regular night. Naomi really should have left town went she had the chance, but noooooo, she had to stay and be a hero. Like now. [break][break]
"You guys can go." She nodded in Percy's general direction. "I'm slowing them down first." [break][break]
If their makeshift little group ended up trapped in a corner five minutes from now, Naomi didn't want to find out then that all these monsters or whatever are secretly immortal. In case these things were pathetic--or just part of an illusion--it seemed like a good idea to know that now. Save everyone the embarrassment of running away from a figment of their imagination.[break][break]
Besides, she was tired and had a bad leg. Running only worked if you were the second slowest person or better. No point in wasting all that time if Naomi was going to get caught anyway. [break][break]
"Prince." [break][break]
A snap of her fingers and the zebra appeared beside Naomi. The familiar didn't wait for any further instruction and simply stomped his front right hoof against the ground. The earth began to open up in front of him, forming a large square surrounding a crowd of crazy arms. From there, the entire area lowered back into the ground. If there was really something trying to claw it's way out, well, have fun digging yourself into a giant hole in the ground.
[break][break][break]
tl;dr Naomi tried to re-bury the dead before then hatched.
The girl appears perplexed about the bubble created by percival grayreme at first, reaching out as if to confirm that it's real. As the bubble begins to rise, though, her eyes fill with panic. "Wait--! No, please! Don't take me away! Please don't take me away! I need to find the key!" she calls down in desperation, clawing at the smooth, soapy surface, but to no avail. [break][break] The shouting girl is likely less of a threat than the rising corpses, though. It doesn't take an athenian to puzzle out that this is the result of necromancy, an affinity which has been strictly banned in all civilized areas of Salem, plus most of the uncivilized areas as well. With Sundial's city-wide enchantments, it's a wonder that a witch was even able to execute that kind of banned magic. [break][break] Naomi Oliver 's gravedigger technique worked wonders on most of the nearby undead, preventing them from easily climbing to the surface. After a few moments of clamoring to pull themselves up, any of the corpses which couldn't escape their new graves would suddenly fall limp and motionless. a handful of different hands pop out from the ground further away, though they don't appear to have any immediate malicious intent. The group might be able to sneak around the undead danger now unnoticed. [break][break] aiden emerson 's detection spell immediately picked up an explosion of activity. Other than the mana alteration caused by the other witches who'd snuck in to these circus grounds, he detected a net of focused mana running through the ground, stretching beyond the range of his own spell and thus making it impossible to find the source. In addition to this, wisps of a distinctly different, yet blindingly powerful spell are curled around the distressed girl in Percy's bubble. These seem to originate from somewhere in the house of mirrors. [break][break] Lastly, Aiden can detect that the mana around that same girl is highly unstable: pulsing and rippling like the mana field of an inexperienced witch with recently awoken powers. And so she is. In fact, those powers were about to be realized right now. [break][break] The first thing they hear is breaking class, followed swiftly by crashing stone as the head of a huge goat crashes right through the second story wall of the house of mirrors. Through his detection spell, Aiden has the luxury of being able to see the that this is, in fact, the young girl's familiar. With a furious shriek from the girl, the shards of mirrors begin to slice through the air indiscriminately, flying around with the same level of chaos as her current psyche.

Jelly could only watch the scenery that was happening outside, wondering whether or not the two strangers out there were going to be okay. She then turned to the wailing girl, now trapped in Percival's bubble... trap... whatever it was. Smiling softly at the girl, she walked up to her and touched the bubble. "Don't worry. It's gonna be okay. You don't have to shout." She tried to console her, sighing and shaking her head. "Cuz too be honest, I can agree with Percy. We aren't here to get deaf."
Then the dark-haired woman casts a spell with her zebra familiar, and Jelly watches the undead hands in astonishment as together they trap the appendages to the ground... at least temporarily. It seemed to have worked, by the looks of it. She smiled and turned to the woman. "Nice work." She stated, then turned to the two new strangers who actually managed to approach them. "Now only to find a way to get out of here..."
The pinkette strode around the room, checking for an exit. If they could jump out the window, it was fine, but so far it seems it would be difficult in accordance to their situation right now. Most of all, the windows are covered in glass. How could one possibly get out like that--
Suddenly the sound of breaking glass and something -- a large goat -- crashing through the walls was heard, making Jelly flinch. This goat... why was it here?! And it seems to be posing a threat. The Leviathan witch's eyes then widen when she seems to realize something. That girl... and that goat...
Were they...?
But then there was no time to ask questions. The girl suddenly shrieks furiously, causing several glass to break and fly around the room. Covering her face, she started tugging the shirts of the rest of her companions in a panic. "Guys... run." She starts to whisper. Then, she slowly backs away, eyes wide.
It doesn’t feel like an illusion and Aiden is almost overtaken by the urge to go back out and report this. He feels the urge to investigate as he can’t sense the source directly, but he could try to gage a direction if he started moving. If it weren’t for all the chaos happening. The earth elementalist makes quick worth of flushing the dead downwards, but there’s more coming. He’s grateful his element is air, at least he didn’t have to step on the dead if it came down to it. Making quick work of what he could sense, he announces to the group bad news. “This entire place is rigged from somewhere else.” Whether proximity activated the spell, or they were being watched he couldn’t tell without more digging around. Haha. Digging.
The glass shards flying around and the giant goat head are distressing. McKenna finds herself at his side once more, having rushed closer the minute the fear started to trickle into the edges of her witch’s consciousness. He barely has any time to put two and two together as the gazelle headbutts him in the ass. The ginger yelps before remembering his has something to guard in some part form the glass. He isn’t afraid of pain, although when he thinks around it there are certain places he needs to avoid getting cut. With a little bit of concentration, Winds of Wind sprout from his back, though because its wind he imagines it’s not very visible aside from the feeling of a concentrated gust. He angles the wing tips to cover his eyes. The wind decimates any semblance of hairstyle he had up to this point.
“Let the girl go! That thing up there’s her familiar! And it’s fucking pissed!” he screamed, eyeing the next patch of undead. He really would rather investigate, but thinks were starting to get a little hairy and he had absolutely no back up. He couldn’t exactly make these people come either. Knights had priorities and he’d been ordered to make sure people were fine. Taking care of this screeching girl was the main priority now. Eyeing the strange magic that surrounded her and following the trail inside, he was about to make his way forward when he realized he still had a duty to help. Shit- Aiden points to the smashed open windows. “Get inside for cover.” He warned them. Whether they listened or not was their problem. Now, to get to the root of the issue. The Knight darted towards a shattered window. He adjusted the angle of his winds again, picking up speed before literally throwing himself through a window and doing his best to tumble on the fall inside. McKenna simply disappeared into the other plane, before reappearing next to him inside, she picked her head by the window, white eyes staring at the group before turning away to help her witch.

Why does it always have to be some crazy shit happening. The red haired boy was talking about the girl having a goat familiar and the other pretty boy was trapping that girl in a bubble. There were girls shouting and blah blah blah can't she just punch this problem away. It seemed to work for her most of the time.
Sadly she didn't... well lets just say she isn't really a defensive fighter so her defensive spells are limited. By limited I mean she has like... literally none. That means she's going to do the only thing she can... fly. Fly away from that shit. Thank god for these wings making her look like the pretty angel she is. Or demon you know no judgement here. Well lots of judgement but that's kind of her thing.
She poured some of her mana towards her back to expand her cupid wings and take flight. It wasn't nearly as fast as a broom but they were so much easier to move around in. She could easily get her butt into that top window this way and given her maneuverability she was less likely to get hit by... you know glass shards.
She might as well cause a little bit of a distraction at least while she was at it. With access to the night sky she used her mana to condense little pockets of stardust together with as wide of an area as she could. It wasn't a lot but heck it was better than nothing. She pushed her mana violently into them until they popped. This would give off bright explosions that... while not doing a whole lot of damage could at least distract if not take out some of the glass shards since... you know it was freaking glass. Not hard to break. Well hopefully nothing else bad would be happening soon.

Percy and Seraph controls the bubble, and the child stays close to them as they slowly back away from the dead mangled hands. The brunette buys them some time, and they are about to run given the urgency of the situation... but hearing from the newcomer that the place is rigged, Percy stops dead in his tracks and begins to retreat back to the main group. Nope, he is not going to do this alone.
"What?!" Percy yells as a series of blinding explosions overtakes the place after a gigantic goat appeared and decided to shower them with freaking glass. Seraph summons a WATER DRAGON BULLET to parry the glass coming at them from above. She directs the path of the dragon to encircle the duo in a tornado-like swirl. The velocity of the water creature should be enough to deflect the glass... As for the Knight's request, there is no way for them to pop the bubble, but Percy suspects the glass would do that for him.
The brunette does not know what's happening anymore. The air nor the ground is not safe for them anymore. Percy suddenly wishes he's on a lake or something, this should have made him useful somehow.
Seraph releases the dragon's movement and lets it crash to hands on the ground. Percy eyes the girl's familiar with bewilderment--it's huge enough to break a second-story building. Sadly, Percy has lost interest in protecting the child. All he wants now is to make it to a safe place--which is the crushed building.
It's the same building that the girl is crazy about.
Percy grabs a glass shard as he nears the swan. The witch and the familiar encloses themselves in the BUBBLE, and wills it to the second floor of the building. With a powerful flick of his wrist, and a careful maneuver of Seraph to the sharp pricks of the broken glass windows, the bubble pops. Percy catches himself a clear window sill, and he climbs up, albeit with a little difficulty.
"I'm in!" Percy yells down below. "Everyone hurry!"
But the illusionist has a sinking feeling that, no, they should not hurry. The witch takes short breaths, back on the wall, adrenaline at highest as he braces himself for whatever it is to come.
TL'DR // doesn't care anymore. deflects shards with water dragon bullet and crashes it to the zombies. gets inside the building with bubble, tells everyone to hurry... or not

Aside from a few minor cuts on everyone, each member of the group appears to have remained intact. The confined space within the house of mirrors limits the girl's damaging elemental abilities since the shards of window glass and mirror edge became embedded in the walls and floor. The attack damages some of the shambling dead outside (even cutting one of their arms clean off), but the lifeless creatures do not cease to move. What exactly they're moving towards is another question -- there appears to be no single goal, with some of the undead walking towards the park entrance, some moving further into the park, and a handful approaching the house of mirrors itself, navigating around the graves dug by Naomi Oliver. [break][break] The first bubble created by percival grayreme was another victim of the storm of shards; with a quiet pop! the obsessed girl tumbles to the ground. Crimson cuts form in synchrony against her and her familiar's skin once the bubble is no longer protecting her from her own attack. It was normal for such a new witch to have this little control of their abilities, but it was rare for them to have this much raw power... unless, of course, someone else was somehow assisting them. [break][break] The goat's head swivels downwards to pick up its bonded witch with its teeth, earning the pair even more cuts as fragments of snapped wall beams cut into its neck and chest. Before long (and, heralded by the sounds of shattering glass and breaking rock), both the young witch and the oversized familiar are inside, out of sight. [break][break] The inside of the house of mirrors is dimly lit by strings of small, round lights, which reflect upon the reflective surfaces for which the structure is named, causing the lights to appear as plentiful as the stars. The group entered near where the goat familiar had broken through the floor with its front foot due to its weight, revealing that there was some sort of room beneath them, underground. [break][break] Before they have a moment to decide which way to go, each of them at once feels a voice forcefully push into their minds: [break][break] "Cᴏᴍᴇ, ᴄʜɪʟᴅʀᴇɴ. Bʀɪɴɢ ᴍᴇ ᴍʏ ᴋᴇʏ."
