They can both hear whispers in the air around them once the name is spoken. It quickly fades almost as if a warning to them. Is saying the name to much already? Or is it something else. Maybe something else about it. The classes so far were simple. A quiz here and a lecture there. Small talk with the two friends he seemed to have in this dream. The day moved on as it moved closer and closer to lunchtime. “Nothing seems different in my class.” Whispers faded in and out again. They never made sense or appeared to even be in their language. It was strange. He was reminded of that necromancer. It sounded similar to how she spoke.
The bell rang before long and it was time for lunch. The two friends he had appeared to moved next to him and make some small talk. The girl eventually waved them as she went off towards the cafeteria for food. Charani and the boy had brought their own lunches. Her ebony hair flowed behind her as she trotted off... right into aiden emerson as he stormed into the room. He even had the nerve to tell her to move. Rude.
“Still a brute I see Torch-head.” She huffed in annoyance as she stops for a second on her way out of the door to Classroom 1-B. She sticks her tongue out and uses her finger to pull down her eye at the faux redhead obviously annoyed by his actions. It wasn’t the first time they’d argued... or at least it felt very familiar to everyone around them. At least she didn’t smack him this time. This time? Huh.
Charani on the other hand waved towards the other boy as he continued taking to the boy in front of him, Names didnt matter it seemed as every conversation he had seemed natural even without them. A lot of nondescript wording like dude, friend and girl were used instead of names.
Club meetings were after school. That would be prime time to snoop around for information. Besides it was already halfway through the day and nothing dangerous had happened right? What could go wrong.
“I made lunch for you I think. There were two boxes in my backpack. I guess even in a dream I do this.” Even in a dream world he was a housewife making lunch for his boyfriend. Well at the most the dream wasn’t changing everything.

Aiden frowned as the name brought about strange whispers, not quite liking that. ‘That’s not a weird name at all, huh.’ He commented trying to shake the feeling of unease. For being the protagonist of this dream, he had yet to lay eyes on the guy. He assumed he’d be a prominent student since he was young but maybe his form had taken an older edge to it. God, that’s all he needed was more adult condescension in his life. He recoiled at the girl, the irritation with her coming easily to him. “Still growing out your hair to compensate for small tits I see!” he called out as she left, the door smacking shut loudly behind her. Though his body has a natural sense of relief that she didn’t, this time, turn to jab him in the stomach or throat. [break][break]
The boy grumbled something vulgar under his breath as he moved to take over a seat nearby Charani’s. They knew the drill, clear out by the time he got there, or he’d yank them out of their chairs if he needed to. Still, he leaned onto the brunette, resting his head on his shoulder while glaring at the other friend who seemed amused by this display. As he usually was it seemed. Aiden, all the while, was still a bit possessive with Charani’s attention but easily distracted by the mention of food. “I’m withering away…please…feed me Charani.” He complained dramatically, sitting up and leaning back in his own desk, a hand on his stomach as it growled on cue. [break][break]
“Do you have club today? Wanna skip?” he asked, turning his attention over to the friend who undoubtedly joined Charani after school. He growled vaguely as this one also took joy in teasing him and Charani’s relationship. It seemed like a popular activity, considering how easily the delinquent reacted to the taunts and jokes. It was undeniable though considering Aiden, who had never really bothered showing much of himself during school except to his own peers, now spent his breaks hanging around one boy in particular, one year bellow him. Or how he aimlessly waited after school for a certain club to end. Dedicated some would say. Whipped, is what his friends called him. “By the way, you got a marker I can borrow?” he asked with a smile that totally said he had found something new to graffiti. If one looked carefully, they could find little turds and dicks hidden around on school property. The result of a group of really bored teens.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Be nice Aiden.” The words came quickly as the two badmouthed each other as they walked away. Aiden was being pretty rude to the girl. It seemed like something he scolded the other boy for quite often. Aiden seemed unfazed by the interaction mostly though throwing out curse words. Or well not really curse words but not kid friendly speech at least. The boy pretty much draped himself over Charani when he sat down. It was dramatic and made him giggle just a small amount. A familiar feeling bubbling up inside of him. “Now now. Behave or you’ll go hungry~” His threat was empty and everyone knew it. Everyone. There was a two tiered box and a smaller box. Of course the bigger one was for Aiden. Charani never seemed to eat nearly as much as his boyfriend did.
There was a small amount of ribbing on Aiden and small talk between the three of them. The girl would do the same later no doubt as she and Charani had club together. He’d probably be waiting outside the classroom their club was in like always to walk the ebony haired boy home. Possibly sneak into his room after dark without his parents noticing. The box was eventually given to Aiden when he begged enough.
“Yes I still have club. And no I’m not skipping.” He hummed as he started eating the egg fried rice he made taking time to pick through some of the veggies and other things in the lunch as the group talked. “After school we should scope out the area. Maybe while I’m in club you can snoop around?” There was going to be less people around at that time after all. Better to snoop around.
Charani rolled his eyes as his friend underhand tossed a marker at the delinquent he was dating. While not a delinquent himself this friend seemed to get along with Aiden a lot better than the female. The female seemed to be much closer to boyfriend instead of the delinquent.
“I wonder what club it is? I can see the door but that’s it. Everything else is fuzzy.” Lunchtime was quickly passing them by. It was almost as if time was moving faster than it should in reality.

It wasn’t exactly clear when Charani has started doing this. At first it had been a habit of Aiden cleaning off whatever Charani didn’t eat during lunch. Then the portions began to get bigger and bigger, as if accounting for the hungry bastard. Finally, it was a full lunch. He felt bad sometimes, but it wasn’t like he had bullied Charani into doing this. As he was busy inhaling his lunch Aiden remarked, “We’re making cookies today in Home Ec. I’ll save you some.” His words were, quite frankly, ominous. Aiden dind’t have the best track record when it came to cooking. He still liked to try, but it was obvious that if he was going to get a good grade in the course though, someone would have to carry him through it. [break][break]
He soured when Charani’s other friend returned, holding far less rapport with her than the boy. Though, it was hard to take him seriously when his cheeks were stuffed like a little hamster’s. He swallowed hard sighing as Charani declined his invitation. “Fine, I’ll just wait…bored out of my mind.” He stated as the girl sniped at him immediately. “Maybe you’d be less bored if you tried joining a club.” To which Aiden replied by imitating her words, in a more annoying, higher pitch before adding, “Then I’d really have to try hard with my grades.” He was too lazy to bother. All he had to do was cram study for university anyway. Trying hard in high school was for the birds. ‘I’ll try and see what I can dig up.’ He returned as he chewed quietly. The school seemed pretty normal, but he could think of a few places to hide strange things in. He could scout through lockers and desks unbothered, and when most of the staff went home, he could sneak into the administration room. And of course, perhaps, change some of his grades. But that was beside the point, and probably a lot harder than he thought possible.[break][break]
‘Have you sensed any more mana, from anyone here? Nothing’s stood out to me, though I think I’m still getting my bearings on sensing that here.’ He added. Aiden thought about it for a moment before continuing. ‘Wouldn’t you be in drama? For the costumes you know. Something artsy.’ He turned his attention from Charani to the faceless boy, grinning broadly as he was handed the permanent marker. Oh, the chaos that would ensue. “I dedicate my next piece to you good sir.” He said as he pocketed the God’s paintbrush. As he cleaned off the food Charani had given him a couple of students were starting to make their way back into the classroom. Aiden gave a good huff, standing up and stretching his arms above his head. “Gotta go, class.” He stated. “You go to class?” the longer haired girl replied as she picked at her nails. The delinquent huffed at her a quick, “Shut up.” Before ruffling his boyfriend’s hair. “See you after school.” He said as he began to make his way back to his own classroom. If only, if only because of the promise of more food to be eaten. Cookies didn’t take that long to bake right? Gods, he was simple minded at times. [break][break]
He spotted a few friends, equal fatasses exited for the chance for a quick snack throughout the day. Untrue. He knew one of them enjoyed English. Enough to actually pay attention in class anyway. Aiden spent it, with eyes glazed over glancing at the empty desk near him and back at the front. Dicks! Dicks! Dicks! Dicks! The bell rang signaling a switch and the students got up ready to bake. Chattering excitedly, Aiden gathered his essentials as the class emptied out before quickly, very small in the corner of the desk, drawing a little dick. Satisfied with the first touch of chaos for the day, he moved after his classmates for baking. The only thing really keeping his spirits up until classes ended and he could see his boyfriend again. As if he didn’t see him every day. As if he hadn’t just seen him an hour ago. Whatever.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Are you threatening me?” He had guttural images of throwing up and a twisting feeling of nausea upon hearing that his boyfriend would cook. In reality he knew Aiden was an okay cook. Not amazing but he could get by if need be and not... you know kill everyone with his food. This dream seemed to crank up certain aspects to fit the outrageous anime aesthetic. Cookies that wailed to be killed because they were so bad. The boy simply chatted amongst the four people around them once the girl returned with her food. “She’s right though. I’m sure you’d have fun in one of the clubs here. Wrestling maybe? Or there’s the judo club.” He wouldn’t mind the change in physique those clubs added to the skinny young man. Not that this why was he chose those but like... it certainly wasn’t a bad thing.
“No. The school itself seemed strange... almost like there is a barrier around it? Like there’s a lot more mana here than in the city.” Probably because whatever they were doing was to happen here. The person they were after was here too. He didn’t know why he knew that but it felt like the right answer.
Charani was rather quiet through lunch as he mostly was observing his friends interact with Aiden. His aura reading not reacting to anyone in the room besides Aiden. Probably because nobody here was a real person. Just figments of a dream. “Bye. See you after.” He would see the boy after classes ended. He’d be walked to club after all as they soaked up as much time together as possible.
“How gay do you think I am? Besides I’m not that dramatic. Maybe art club? Though none of these words seem right in my head. Eh we will find out.” Lunchtime was over and classes resumed. It was almost the end of the day. The desk stood empty. It looked to be pristine as usual. There was an air of Mystery to it. Nobody acknowledged it being empty or that it was there at all. There were books and a notebook inside of it though. Untouched by the hands of time. Ding dong the day is close to done.

‘Incredibly gay.’ Aiden returned easily, the ghost of a grin pulling at his features as he focused on the task ahead. Baking. He seemed to ruminate over everything while he mixed ingredients and got jostled by a few of his friends. Their friend group had been joined by a couple of girls who seemed a little nervous. More so, because Aiden was handling the mixing. “This is sugar, right?” he asked as he stuck his finger into the mixture before taking a quick lick. He squinted shaking his head. “It’s salt…” he revealed to the shock of the group who began moving about quickly to get more ingredients to overcompensate for the salt Aiden had mistakenly added. [break][break]
Home Ec continued, with close calls and the redhead being monitored especially carefully so he didn’t mess with the recipe too much. The smell of home-made cookies flooded the halls for the rest of the day as class after class got to bake their own cute little treats, packed and wrapped in their own cute little festive bags. He found himself taking notes for Valentine’s day. After the class ended, he found himself slipping away with his companions. One for the nurse, another for the bathroom. He simply disappeared in the walk between Home Ec and next period. He reappeared in the hang out once again, giddy and excited to taste his own creations. He’d save it until he saw Charani again. Bell after bell rang bringing the day to a close. Friends filtered out, some inviting him to hang out, to be nice. Aiden grinned with the response, obviously, that he would be staying after school to take care of some things. Some things being Charani, of course. There’s more jostling and shoving and playful punching until Aiden is left alone. [break][break]
He spent the next half hour playing a couple of gacha games on his phone in focused silence before pocketing the device and moving back to class to gather his things. The room’s empty, thankfully. He could go about his business. He retrieved his bag, patting himself down and making sure he still had his wallet before pulling out his trusty permanent marker. There were a couple of desks e wanted to hit, now that he’d started. He moved about the room drawing little dicks and turds and cats under the lids of desk, in corners of the insides. He eventually made his way back to his own desk before turning to the empty one again. The pristine one, with no student during the day and….no dick drawing. Ah shit. Maybe one of his classmates had noticed him earlier and quietly cleaned it off. That’s fine then. He sat down for a moment, uncapping the marker and beginning to draw in a different corner of the desk a little dickbutt. He snickered a bit as he put on the eyes, almost wishing he had some glue and googly eyes. It’d make it even funnier. Oh well. [break][break]
‘Right, the mission.’ He thought to himself as he pupped the cap back onto his marker and began get up. ‘Hey, I’m moving. Doing a sweep of the 2nd floors classrooms, then first, then lockers.’ He sent to his companion as he picked up his bag and began his rounds. He did his best to grasp at the mana around him as he was going to use it but stopping just short once he felt it moving around him. Still no sign of their protagonist which felt odd. Maybe today wasn’t a delinquent and after school activity centered episode. He wondered though, if this was a regular slice of life anime or a magical girl one. He hadn’t heard any of the typical rumors like ghosts or pranks being played today though. Ugh, he hoped he didn’t have to wait until tomorrow. He might have to eavesdrop a bit on other students. Maybe roaming was in the cards. Oh well. Right, patrolling. ‘Hope club is going well.’ He added, as he walked into the classroom next to his just to check in on it.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
The day moves on and seems very normal. The energy around the school unfelt by the non player characters the plague the dream scape. He can feel mana slowly collecting in the school as the day goes by. Aiden might be able to feel it too if he concentrates hard enough. Something is bound to happen tonight or tomorrow. The boy watched time tick by rapidly as the school day moved on. Nothing here really mattered. Aiden seemed to be playing his role much more fluidly than he was. Perhaps the dream effecting him more? Or he was just a better actor than the black haired boy? Naw. Not that. Before long he waved goodbyes to the girl and boy he had spent classes with.
“Good boy. Let me know if you see anything.” Probably he’s be fine. He was strong enough as a witch and he could still use his magic in this world to defend himself as normal. This worlds mana worked the same. They didn’t know that of course but it did because I’m being lazy.
He walked down the hall to the club room. The door opening with a twist of the handle. There were three people inside. One his female friend... the other two he didn’t recognize. They spoke about club activities and a meeting. There were two vacant chairs in the club room. The president of the club was ill... or something. The excuse they gave was flimsy and obviously rushed. Play along with it. The other chair nobody seemed to notice or explain. It was pristine like the desk.
Speaking of the desk... the marker marks were gone as soon as Aiden turned away from it for long enough. Almost like they vanished into thin air. No trace. They were not wiped away. They were just gone. Untouched and unblemished like a porcelain doll.
Aiden would find very little from around the schools second floor. The desk was the only thing that was different. That didn’t belong. The first floor had the chair where Charani was. There was a third object though. A locker which looked as pristine as the others. It was locked obviously. Inside was a girls belongings. It looked ordinary otherwise.
The sun got lower and lower as the two played their parts. The sky turned orange as mana continued to gather on the roof of the school building. “It’s very surreal. Occult club is a thing apparently.” They spent time talking about salt uses and planning ghost hunting activities. Or to be more accurate mysteries around town they should investigate that might me supernatural. That’s what they do apparently.

It’s easy enough to get through. His footsteps echo gently through the halls as he moved around the school. He idly went through classes poking into desks, swiping things he didn’t need and then putting them back. He passed a science lab with a small group of members in it, and he could hear badly practiced music from another as he moved downstairs. His feet led him to Charani’s clubroom which he paused at briefly before continuing on, forcing himself to keep investigating. He’d see the boy soon enough. As he walked, the identification of mana became a little easier, a little less blurry in his head. He could more or less feel a flow and boy was there flow. It definitely felt like it was concentrated in the school, but still not main character. [break][break]
He stopped by the lockers, tugging open doors and sifting through belongings. He found a couple of them with love letters inside and quickly moved along, not wanting to mess with them. He paused to fidget with one particular door that seemed locked, quickly attempting vague combinations and yanking at the door quietly before giving up and moving along. It felt like this should be a thing in play. Absent student probably. Still, strange considering their target was a boy. At least, he was pretty sure the boy was one. With a name like redacted one would assume as much. Better not think about that name. ‘Sounds fun.’ Aiden returned as he moved away form the lockers and moved to take a sip from the water fountain. [break][break]
‘Kinda of. I kept getting a weird feeling about a desk in my class, like someone’s missing. Same kind of feeling about a locker down here. I don’t think our main character came to school today which is weird since we did.’ He returned as the shadows got longer. He ambled back to meet up with Charani, who by now, was probably at the end of his activities hopefully. As usual, Aiden took no time in waiting and opened the door to the clubroom with a broad grin. “Alright, give him back, no titty goth girlfriend.” He taunted with ease turning his attention to Charani. “I wanna make out with my boyfriend.” He added before the girl could jump on his obvious eagerness to see the guy. She did however, lunge at him, which he ungracefully dodged not wanting to feel her perfectly manicured fingernails thrust into his abs. ‘Kiss me on the roof?’ the redhead added as he nodded over at the shorter boy who was probably aware of the magic gathering above their heads. ‘Do you feel…called to? Cause that’s the feeling I’m getting.’ He added as he ran a hand through his hair, fixing a couple of strands that had popped out of place. He wondered if it was the dream preparing a trap for them, of if it was its roundabout way of thrusting them into some kind of supportive cast. Hopefully this show didn’t have a bury your gays trope in it.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
The club activity goes on quickly. Before he even realizes it Aiden is here to pick him up. Literally. Well not literally but he probably could. There is some insults traded and an attack barely missed by Aiden. Next time he was getting the suplex for sure. The boy bowed to the club members and apologized for Aidens rather crude behavior. Something they were obviously used too at this point. Both aspects... the behavior and the apology in tandem. With a wave the group started all packing up as the two walked away.
“Called too isn’t the word I’d use but I do feel mana being pulled there.” Probably by something or someone. Either the dream casters creation or the subject of the dream. A flip of the dice would decide. Roll wisely.
He walked down the hall with Aiden as they discussed the objects Aiden was finding. “There was a chair like that in the club room. It was very strange.”. The door to the roof was at the end of the second years hall on the second floor. It wouldn’t take long to get there. Not long at all.
“We need to be very careful. Got it?” The door to the roof was within sight, just a few feet away. There was someone talking on the other side. Neither could make out the words because of the steel door. The voice sounded male... maybe? It was hard to tell. Or was that multiple voices? He didn’t know from here. They’d find out very soon.

‘I mean, where else are we supposed to go? We haven’t exactly been led anywhere else except to this school.’ Aiden replied with a shrug. He hadn’t gotten a call from his parents telling him to get home immediately, nor had his dream friends been really pushy about him coming out with them. The walk back to the roof is familiar. His abandoned hangout is nearby, and there had been countless times where he and Charani had snuck away on the roof during lunch together. He nodded at the other witch. ‘I’m always careful.’ He said, attempting a confident smirk. He could say, in good conscience, that at the very least he tried to be careful. Tried being the key word here.[break][break]
He had no wand at the ready, just his bag and his charm. ‘Should I pretend I left something up here?’ he added as they crept forward, the voice or voices behind the door still going. He strained his ears, but it seemed they weren’t directly in front of it or something. The mana on the other side was growing, humming as whatever mana available was pulled across the dream and beginning to concentrate here. ‘I wasn’t planning on fighting anyone so soon either. Might make it harder to collect our guy.’ He added with a shrug as he carefully put a hand on the door. [break][break]
He waited for a few moments to be given the go ahead before casually opening door and hoping they wouldn’t be blasted down the stairs for it or something equally terrible. Safe to say, as soon as the door began to open, one of the voices got more hurried before finally stopping as Aiden shifted his weight to lean on his other leg. “Oh, my bad.”
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
The goddess of fortune smiles upon you. Your roll has opened up a new path to follow. The door opened and the voices stopped. There was a boy and a girl on the roof in front of them. A magic circle was drawn on the ground of the roof. Obviously this is where all the mana was being drawn into. There was something obscured by the dream in the center of the circle. A book lay open next to the boy... no doubt a grimoire for whatever spell they were working..
“Yeah can’t say I believe that.” Probably because Aiden was anything but careful. Sometimes the recklessness worked out though. After all they found something interesting. Two people performing magic... or so it appeared.
The young man looked at the girl next to him with panic in his eyes. He was doing a stage whisper even so it was easy to hear. How dramatic. “I thought you put up a warding barrier so this wouldn’t happen.” A warding spell to keep people away. Or at least people without magic. It didn’t physically keep anyone away it was more like a mental suggestive to keep oit more than anything.
“I did. Maybe you botched the potion.” She said being a bit argumentative with the boy. They had been caught red handed and didn’t seem to know what to do. What they were doing didn’t matter. Something seemed off about them... one of them was dangerous. Or maybe it was the dreamer? Charani couldn’t tell. The dream was messing with his aura reading so he couldn’t tell if either of them was anything.
The boy squinted at the two for a second or two longer before sighing. It seemed like a sigh of relief. “Oh thank gods it’s just you.” He looked familiar. Familiar in his mind somehow. The president of the occult club. “You two gave me a heart attack. I thought we’d have to memory wipe someone again.”
Memory wipe? Well that was... interesting. “Right. Um... sorry for the intrusion.” Charani bowed to the two they had freaked out. What were they doing here though? Well they were the members of the occult club that were not at the meeting so this was what kept them from the meeting.

He shrugged at Charani’s response before moving his attention fully to the pair in front. Aiden held back a snicker. Two dreamers perhaps? Doubtful, when they were in the space of only one person. He eyed the pair as they whispered to each other, before looking over at Charani and then back. “Sorry to intrude on the...occult confession ceremony?” Aiden offered as he tried to get a look at the book in the middle but finding it hard to stare at. His eyes flickered over the runes, clicking his tongue as began to step forward to look at their handiwork. “Please don’t memory wipe me, I can barely remember the day of the week as it is.” The redhead said with a laugh circling the salt and sniffing at the air. ‘This our guy, right?’ he asked the other boy, cutting the distance between him and the pair. He had always been more of a up close and personal fighter anyway. [break][break]
“Didn’t think vandalism was part of your scheduled club activities. What’s the shit for?” he added, posturing as he crouched down and tilted his head to the side. He didn’t seem all that concerned speaking to them. After all, he was in the same year, wasn’t he? Then again, Aiden wasn’t one to respect much of anything. ‘Should we mess with it or help it?’ he added trying to figure out what exactly the mana was being gathered for anyway. “And why ain’t the rest of your members here…” he added frowning for a moment before grinning again to tease mister club president. “Or was I right and this was just a weirdo romantic private moment we walked into?” They seemed pretty alright. Just…huge occult nerds. Ok well one dreamer, and one possible dream guardian. Would they have to kill her to get him out? How exactly were they going to convince him to come out with them anyway. [break][break]
‘If he’s into magic think we could convince him to come with us with magic?’ Maybe he was thinking too far ahead right now.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
The presidents cheeks flushed red at the insinuation of the date spot being the reason he was alone with his Vice President. Though she was pretty in the face she had the same anger issues as Aidens other nemesis. She was also faster on the draw than her.
Aiden would find himself within arms reach very quickly. Almost like she teleported to him,.. though it was nothing so fancy. She was just really quiet and really fast. “So annoying. President Sir may I please hex this boy again.” Wait again? She turned to Charani with squinty eyes. “Control your pet please acolyte.” Charani turned bright red at her insinuation. His pet? Rude. The president coughed as he regained his composure. “Yes well. Anyway what are you two doing up here?” door opened and the voices stopped. The book looked to be somewhat older and appeared to hold some amount of mana inside of it. That part appeared to be genuine. Everything else was just cheap delusions. ‘Holy’ water and a circle of salt. Messy ruins that didn’t mean very much from what he could tell. Like a copy of a copy of a rune.
“I believe so yes that is him. I can’t get a read on the girl though.”
“Ah yes you’re that hooligan our dear acolyte is always hanging off of. AHA I KNOW. YOUVE DECIDED TO JOJN US. Yes of course. It makes perfect sense to join the coven of your beloved. And you’ve come to obtain my blessing. Such a sweet soul you have acolyte. MY NAME IS redacted but every calls me President. He who wields the ancient tome of magic and weirder of the greatest magic known to man.” He posed with his hair covering half of his eye. He was hardcore having 8th grade syndrome. Except from the fact he was dreaming he could actually do magic. It appears though he didn’t know that... or perhaps he was hiding it from them. Playing the fool.
He seemed to ignore all the questions asked of him and changed the subject like a champ. He was nothing if not quick on the draw. Why was he here though. It was obviously something big or he wouldn’t have hid it from everyone but the Vice President. Right. They shouldn’t push to hard though right away.

Aiden leaned into the joke, catching sight of the pink spreading across his target’s features. “I wouldn’t blame you Prez, this is where Charani an’ I first tongued.” He said, still grinning. “Hex? Pet?!” he asked, almost growling at the other girl flustered for a moment at how close she’d gotten. Throughout his day in the dream, most people had stayed away. He felt a flash of panic for a brief moment remembering the sudden pain that had been a knife in the back. Maybe he should keep his distance. But that wasn’t really his skill set now was it? He heard the voice of his matriarch ringing in his head, lecturing him about overcoming instinctual fear. Pushing through base animal terror. That’s what an Emerson did. Purifiers after all, were kind of a magical bane in a way, and it wasn’t like Aiden had much to his power other than Weaving, a more subtle craft. When push came to shove, knowing how to throw hands or twist a knife was going to be life saving. [break][break]
Before Aiden could reply, the guy seemed to carry on with a heavy dose of delusion. He thought his friends were bad with their box dyes and fake tattoos. This was just…cringe. He held back saying as much, but he looked pretty unconvinced. “This tome? The one that looks like a library thesaurus from 1979?” he asked as he stood up and stepped over salt lines and cat scratch swirls, hands in his pocket as he looked over the pages. He tried to read what kind of magic they were performing. He couldn’t quite tell much other than it was a source of mana in this world. “Guess mortals can’t actually understand what it says.” He said with a shrug. ‘Guess I’m joining a cult?’ he asked looking over at the President before keeping an eye on the Vice President. “Don’t all club memberships require to keep a grade up? I’m not the studious type after all.” Then again it felt like occult club was just something kids did to mess around after school instead of going home. “Charani knows.” He had no doubt the idea of joining the same club together had been floated before the redhead had lazily vetoed it, going for the ‘wait in the arcade and then come pick Charani up’ option.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
There was a cold feeling of metal inside his stomach. It wasnt really happening through the dream. It was simply Aidens fear slipping into their connection. It made him stumble for a moment. He could feel it burn like ice on skin. It was only there for a few seconds but it was long enough to draw the breath from his body. The girl seemed to notice something was off with him. Her face showing an ounce of concern for a moment.
The president did not feel the same... mostly because he was wrapped up highly in his own delusions. He was growing embarrassed at Aiden making fun of his grandiosely delusions with just a smidge of basis in reality. That and he did not notice anything but himself. No doubt his personality was being twisted by the dream to an extreme form.
“Be careful. That book is thousands of years old.” The book itself did look very old. He doubted it was that old but just by feel Aiden could tell it was at least several centuries old. Maybe not exactly what the chuni boy thought it was but the book was definitely something magical. “No you just can’t read the language of the gods.” The vice president raised her brow at the idea of the gods language. Even she seemed a little less in on this facet of the delusion.. “You’re being annoying again President. Don’t mind him. He gets like this sometimes. The book is just in Latin.” It was just an older book after all so it made sense it wasn’t in Japanese like the rest of their texts. Or English for the dub watchers.
“I think it’s a tabletop rpg we play in the club he’s using as his persona. It sounds very familiar. Not a cult.”
“Ah I see. Well then I suppose a supporting romantic character for our healer will do.” He posed once again real extra like. He was really into this shtik or so it seemed. “Now NPC if you’ll hand me my grimoire please.”
The girl looked between Aiden and Charani as the president barked out his order. She had a hint of a smirk on her face as she looked between them. The air smelled of tree bark and morning dew. Aiden could no doubt smell it. Charani himself was getting a bit nauseous upon smelling it. He walked towards Aiden and pulled is arm around himself. It smelled of cinnamon. He felt calmer.
