this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“If you weren’t so abrasive I’d say how very bard loke you are with that sense of humor ohohoho you’re not going anywhere.” The President said covering his mouth to laugh. There was a clicking sound audible by the door. Did... did they just lock them in here? That can’t be a thing right? “Not every meeting. We do discuss things for school festivals and activities around the school. We just do this a lot too.” The boy said with a smile on his face. Charani had honestly never play one of these games in real life. In this fictional world though he had spent countless months adventuring with this group so he was very knowledgeable on this fake world..
“Not that I know of. It’s more like this is your identity in the group. They tend to take it to far and treat this like real life too. This club is pretty chuni but harmless.” The members of the club were just nerds who played a little to hard. It tended to bleed into their real lives. Or well whatever passes for real lives in a false world. “Good. Now I’ll start filling out your sheet and starting equipment. Since you’re with our Druid here we shall be gracious enough to bump up your level so you don’t get ohk while we are adventuring.” The Vice President was the one speaking now. She was writing on a tablet she pulled out of her backpack. No doubt a database app or something she used to keep track of the covens character sheets. Charani had the app on his phone that let him see his information as well. All the members could.

Aiden looked over at the door in alarm before back at the President wondering if how easily he’d get away with punching him in the throat. A good hit to the jaw might take him down a peg. Then again that’s not what they were here for and he tabled that course of action for later. “Sounds like you have fun.” He noted, nodding over at the boy. ‘Oh, so you play here…and then pretend outside of class. Got it.’ Strange, but overall fun he supposed. Probably the people he might’ve left alone in school since they probably would’ve avoided him. Bunch of nerds. [break][break]
“I guess that’s gracious, but if you didn’t there’d be no point in me subbing in, right?” Aiden asked as he began looking over Charani’s shoulder as the boy began messing with something on his phone. The rest of the club seemed to know the drill, so he began to pull out his own while awaiting further instructions. As he looked over at the Vice President as she began assigning him something or other, he added, “Just put me down for Fighter, it’s easy enough to manage.” No magic, just straight rolling dice and throwing damage. Easy enough to work with and probably one of the only classes he had bothered reading in that book. [break][break]
A glance over at Charani’s phone suddenly made him feel extremely lazy. Maybe he should let them take care of this. Hopefully they just took into account what he asked, but if not…well he’d be a little annoyed, but he’d suck it up. It was too early to get into a fight with the Vice President after all. ‘That’s good to hear. I packed some crackers and some Gatorade in case of nausea again. Aside from teen pregnancy, nothing weird last night when you were home? Weird vibes or the like?’
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Of course we do.” They had lots of fun playing pretend. Of course given the course of the chuni they took it much more seriously than they should. The female continued to type up things as Charani texted his boyfriend a link to the app so he could download it. “Fair point Fighter. What pray tell shall me your weapon of choice?” The leader of the group said with a sheepish smile. He too had his phone out as the girl continued to type and tap upon her little tablet. Given her current status it made sense she’d be the DM for their group. It couldn’t be the President since we already know he plays his character.
“There’s archery, one handed, two handed, gauntlet, great weapon, shield. Take your pick.” The girl hummed as she tapped choices for the boy. She’d chosen human as his race without asking but whatever. “And what other language do you wish to speak? Also do you want me to just allocate skills points for your weapon type?” The Vice President was at least being very helpful filling most of the sheet out for him. She even made a cute little backstory about how he was a mercenary that they found injured along their journey. Charani, being an absolute sweetheart, healed him and the fighter fell in love with him joining their party because of it.
“I literally went into my bed, closed my eyes and when I opened them I was here. So I didn’t really notice anything at all. It’s probably fine.”
“Okay. Should we get started? I’ll just tag along outside battle and do the after battle healing. Everything else it all you guys.” Charani gave a thumbs up. The group members nodded as the Vice President input the rest of his app and saved it. Aiden could now start playing. Let the adventure begin.

Soon enough he got his little sheet on his little app, after a bit of waiting because the signal was a bit on and off around here. As he began looking over his sheet, he turned his attention to the President. “Uhh…” he mumbled before shrugging. “A greatsword. I think there’s something a fighting style that meshes well with it.” He shrugged before adding. “Nets are also cool as a backup.” He felt a little relieved it wouldn’t be the guy dming. His character would be less annoying that way. Though, he fully expected to die within the first few minutes, considering who was taking charge of the group. Whatever, he could just roll a new fighter. The same fighter, over and over again. It’d be like Rogue Legacy except nothing changed. [break][break]
“Uhh the Underground one.” Aiden added, showing Kimmy’s preference and bias for Drow Elves. “Yeah, whatever’s easiest I guess.” He said seeing as the girl already had a handle on it. As the information on his sheet changed, he let out a huff in amusement at his backstory. Pretty sure that was how he’d met Charani in this dream. Reading over the little blurb popped a quick memory in the back of his head. ‘I guess I’m just paranoid after the weird horror dream, we had that one time. With the shadow people.’ He returned with a shrug. He’d tried to keep a bit of a lookout on his way home but barely remembered arriving, just going. [break][break]
“Yaaay, let’s go fuck some dragons.” Aiden said weakly putting up a fist in the air, his eyes still skimming over his phone. He kept tapping on things reading quickly. Despite his whining from earlier, he seemed a little more interested in this than he should be.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Okay then. Let’s begin” The President said with a wink. He stood up from his chair raising his hand in the air. There was a huge hum of mana in the air and a magic circle appeared below them all. Nobody but Charani and Aiden seemed to notice this or... well react really. Within seconds Aidens body felt heavier.
The sun was bright and the world fuzzy around them. Every time he blinked the world became more focused. His physical body didn’t change much... much more muscular than his dream form but his height and age seemed to be the same. He was in some form of chain mail with a large sword attached to his back.
Like an anime the dream was forcing them to play out the board game. It was more exciting for the viewer that way. Of course it meant it was more dangerous for the three actual living people here. Beside the redhead was a boy dressed in light leather armor with a wooden staff. There was an elf dressed in a wizards hat and cloak one assumed was the President given his flair for the dramatic. The other members were what looked like a human thief, some kind of green humanoid with a hammer and a monk of some kind. “Okay. Now where were we guys?” The boy I’m the wizards hat said. There was this ominous voice that cut through the clouds. A magical light appeared by the group that appeared in the shape of the Vice President. She looked like a fae of some sort? A way for her to interact with the group while DMing probably.
“You were heading to the capital city to find out more information. Hunting for that lich who stole your family grimore.” The girl said as she no doubt looked over their notes in the real world. The real world they couldn’t see. Or interact with. “Well this isn’t how I expected this to go. Maybe if we finish the campaign we can get him to wake up? There is always a forced exit built into every dream world after all. Besides this part of the dream world feels more magical. More leeway for us to use magic... well me more than you it seems warrior boi.”
“Oh right. Which way is that again?” Asked the President, Charani shrugged at him since he didn’t know either. Maybe they should find a map. Or just follow the road.either works. They were on a road right now after all. The grass and warmth of the sun felt nice enough.

Aiden, thankfully had been staring at his phone, as elements under his feet began glowing. He stared at the screen, doing his best to pretend he hadn’t just witnessed that. After all, that wasn’t really happening right? This guy couldn’t actually do magic in the confines within his show right? Better to ignore it than draw attention to it. After all, considering he was one of the few things that had mana around them, obviously he still had some sort of other agency here. There’s a a small drop on his chest, like gravity got a little heavier before he realized he was wearing….exactly what was on his sheet. Chainmail and a giant weapon. Oh boy. It was hard to stay stoic at the sight of his get up, because, frankly, he found it super duper cool looking. Focus Aiden, focus. [break][break]
“You look cute.” Aiden said, giving Charani a cheeky grin as he tried and failed to not get caught up in the fun of it. “Wait what?” The task handed to them by the Vice President echoed their issue earlier. Had he just been going super chuni on them? ‘Yeah I was thinking the same thing. Kind of regret not multiclassing…but anyway, he gets his little hero’s journey, and we get him back out. But…I dunno it feels too simple a win. He could’ve done this without us and woken up right? Something’s holding him back.’ Aiden replied. After all, if this was Paradise, he assumed the spell wanted the dreamers to stay within. To what purpose though, they didn’t know yet. ‘You checked him when we were awake right? Was he draining mana or looking sick?’ Aiden asked as they settled into the journey that was to come. [break][break]
“If it’s the capital city, we’d be able to see it in the distance, right?” Aiden offered as he looked around. He wondered if this was a new level inside the dream. He was probably just sitting around on the chair still right? Then again, it was hard to think that when he was walking in full armor and he felt a little warm under the sunlight.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Don’t make me smack you.” Charani huffed as he waved his staff menacingly. Well he tried to look menacing but he was a cute little thing. He had a little baby bump in this aspect of the dream. No doubt the tabletop taking some liberties with how far along he theoretically was.
“I’m sure there is something with that lich that’s the issue. Or some kind of twist that’s keeping him from completing the mission.” It looked fair and normal. Perhaps the lich was insanely high leveled? Or was hard to find? Or there was some kind of secret behind it? There had to be something that didn’t belong. Something that didn’t allow the mission to end.
“Good thinking Warrior. This way!” The elvish boy hummed as he started down the pathway that looked like it lead towards the city. The thief and the other two idly chatting away as they walk. There were a few NPCs walking along the road and a wagon as well but nothing dangerous. Being close to the capital and on a road meant safety.
“As you walk along you pass by a small wooded area. It appears to be a shorter route that will save you a few days travel. You are unsure what lurks beyond the trees. What do you do?.” The fae girl said giving them the first choice. A quick route or a safe route? Which will it be. “Since It’s you guys doing the fighting Aiden you should help decide. I’ll just stand back and heal.”
“What do you think warrior? Fast or safe.” Asked the President, the group was currently split down the middle. Aiden should have a feeling that he will be making a lot of tie breaker decisions from now on. Sorry Kimmy. Once you decide roll a d20 and put the roll in your post. Thanks for playing.

Aiden let out a weak laugh at the threat, averting his eyes from the boy as he did his very best to forget and ignore Charani’s condition. ‘You think it’s possible for dreamer’s to pop themselves out of their own Paradise?’ Maybe it was just extremely difficult. Who could say really? Everyone was still doing research and digging on information about this affinity. “Huzzaaaah.” Aiden replied as they set off to find this weirdo lich. It seemed easy enough in a city. Probably the guy in charge. He eyes the blurry faced NPCs wondering about their standing as an adventuring party. How many times had they played this? Or was it all just lead up and he and Charani had dropped in for the main event? [break][break]
“Huh?” he said, distracted by the world around them. “Oh. Uh, fast track it. Should be fine if he just keep watches and stuff.” He said with a shrug. He was the worst person to ask, considering he was brand new to the game. But he wanted to get this dream mission over quickly, and if that meant helping whatshisface beat the main boss to his tabletop problem then so be it. ‘Stick close to someone so you don’t get blindsided.’ Aiden offered as he gestured over at the wooded path. “Seems alright to me. Especially if we don’t have any money to hitch a wagon ride to the capital.” He continued. “If it’s a big deal, I can take point.” The redhead offered. He had the skills for it right? According to what he’d read on his sheet anyway. [break][break] i got a 6 on the d20 roll lmao
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Okay. Ill try to stay near the middle of the group then.” Charani said as his boyfriend chose the path they would take. The forest it was. The small fae snapped her fingers as the story progressed. It looked like a normal forest at least. The path was dimmer than before thanks to the shade from the trees. It didn’t effect their visibility much though thankfully. As they moved along there was rustling from their left. There was some kind of broken sign that was able to be picked up. “Hmm what is this.” The elvish boy said as he picked up the small wooden object. Painting on it was BEWARE OF NEST in a language he didn’t recognize. Charani couldn’t read it either. It appeared to be a warning of some kind. The sound of small steps were visible through the crushing of leaves. A small group of goblins was nearby.
“You guys head that? It sounds close.” The stealthy thief commented as they walked much more cautiously. The creatures were no match for skilled adventurers of their level of course but still. They would attack now. What do you do?
All NPC actions will take place after the PC moves. Feel free to use the non dreamer to attack or defend in any posts.
“Wolves maybe? Or goblins? Something like that probably l.” The goblins attack the group. What do you do?

At the very least, they weren’t traveling for too long. With the blink of an eye, the scenery swapped ad they were already trudging through the forest together. Aiden felt like he’d zoned out and just snapped back to attention. It was kind of hard to be stealthy with all the armor on him. He glanced at the sign, a little uneasy about it but from his point of view he couldn’t really understand what it said. That being the case, he did take into account the path they traveled felt more like a deer trail than an actual road to follow. He hadn’t heard anything particularly alarming either. He stopped in his tracks as the rogue spoke up turning to look towards them blankly but staying quiet to see if he caught on to whatever it was. Could’ve been a bird. [break][break]
A moment or two and he could hear the distinct crunch of something on dead ground. Not the stealthiest either but compared to the noise the party was probably making it was easily hidden. “We can run or stay put.” Aiden whispered, as the group seemed to tense up, not more aware that they were being surrounded. The monk put up their fists and the rogue began pulling out a pair of daggers in each hand. “Cool, brawl it is.” Aiden murmured as he reached back to unmount the comically large great sword somehow still attached to his back. As he began to yank it forward, arrows whizzed by. One clinked off his armor while a couple shot past the wizard’s head, landing into the opposite tree with a pair of soft thunks. One other seemed to graze of the rogue’s arm. [break][break]
“You movin’ up?” called the rogue and Aiden nodded simply before moving forward to intercept the goblins that were now rushing out of the underbrush. The pair moved up towards what looked like an incoming cluster of goblins, with Aiden taking a grand swing at one, while his partner moved in for the kill. The monk seemed to stay her ground next to the weaker members of the party while the hammer wielding orc flanked the other side, ready to deflect oncoming enemies. “We kill them and then run? Or does anyone still think its worth it to sneak through here?” Aiden called out, eyes shifting from the back of the team to a goblin that managed to shot a crossbow bolt into his arm.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Fight obviously. If we let them be they’ll attack someone else who can’t defend themselves.” The President wasn’t exactly wrong, even if his logic was rather self serving. Another, weaker, party of adventurers or even a random group of merchants would probably not be coming out without a casualty or two if caught by surprise. Sure the goblins may be low level but numbers can do a lot of damage event against theoretically stronger foes like novice adventurers. The president shot two small balls of flame at some of the goblins with crossbows firing at them. One erupted into flames and screamed in agony as it died. Well this isn’t a kids show at least. The party, even with the new addition, seemed to work really fluidly together. This was probably because of Aidens already extensive combat practice allowing him to greats the dynamic quickly. Plus it was against weak enemies.
After about half of the first group of goblins were unalived the remainder of the small force made an escape attempt. Of course goblins weren’t known for being geniuses but they still had some sense of self preservation in them. They tried to flee to survive since they bit off more than they could chew. “Well that was annoying.” The elvish boy said as they scurried away. He cast another fireball toward them to make sure they continued to flee. It was quick combat at least. Charani on the other hand made his way very quickly to his boyfriend pulling out the bolt and casting a healing spell. The pain was very minimal. It was like their pain receptors were highly turned down here. It felt like a pin prick at best. Weird.
“Should we go after them or just keep going?” That is a question of which you must decide. Will you go after the fleeing forces of goblins to wipe them out or continue down the road toward the city? Choose wisely.

Aiden nodded silently, busy handling a different goblin. The fighting felt smooth, and he found himself falling into the same movements from Marjorie’s training, albeit with a little bit of a struggle. There’s wobbling and tripping, as his style is not used to such a heavy sword. Even if it wasn’t hard to wield it had more weight to it than his usual blade. Even then, he was more used to knives and fists than blade training. He hadn’t wanted Marjorie to touch his heirloom. That was Rosario’s, and he was just keeping it safe. [break][break]
The party moved easily on their own, and he found it easy enough to follow the rogue’s cues. He found himself high fives the guy as Aiden pushed back one last goblin and he went for the throat. “Nice.” The group began to flee, and Aiden rested his blade on his shoulder, glancing back at the rest of the party. He smiled graciously as Charani moved up, letting out a small ‘Ow.’ As he yanked out the bolt. “It’s not that bad, you should save those.” He stated with a shrug. It hadn’t made much of a dent it felt. He wondered if it was partly due to being lucid during this whole dream within a dream experience. [break][break]
“Kinda rather get the fuck outta here as quickly as possible. Chasing after them would just make more trouble. The noise might attract other things in the woods.” Aiden said with a small yawn before putting the greatsword back on his back. “Besides, we might lose progress if we follow them, and we’re making good time on foot right now.” The boy added kicking over a smallgoblin body as the rogue knelt down to begin pilfering their bodies for any extra supplies or measly coins.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
“Well that was fun. I agree though with tank boy. We should just keep going. We can call it a day when we get to the city.” The President said, the Vice Presidents fairy like sprite nodding in agreement at the idea. She had things to do tonight after all. By things she meant homework and to watch Boys Over Flowers again but still. That was none of y’all’s business. The boyfriend gave aiden emerson a raised brow at the idea of keeping a crappy goblin bolt. Especially because nobody here was an archer really. They’d probably find very little use out of it. ”Yeah no. My inventory isn’t turning into your bedroom with random stuff everywhere.” That wasn’t true in real life. Aiden was fairly clean for a young man his age. He was a slob by delinquent here it seemed... or at least messier than he really was. “Anyway let’s go. I can literally feel our bundle of joy elbowing me in the kidney so let’s make this quick.”
Maybe a fourth wall break? Or something of that like. He wasnt sure if his fake body in the dream was really feeling this way or if it was a product of the rpg they were in. All he knew was regardless Aiden was going to get a smack when they awoke from the dream. Even if he isn’t really at fault he deserves it. The dream baby will understand that his father deserved it. “Forward march troops.” The elvish boy said with the group of adventurers moving along the wooded path. There was nothing else to dangerous in the woods. Maybe a wolf or random monster scattered here or there. The goblins being here caused many of the lesser monsters to be hunted away for food it seemed.
“You exit the woods to a field. There is a large walled city visible on the west side. There is also a smaller village on the East side just over a small river. Both look to be the same distance away. Which do you go too? ” That the Vice President doing her dming duties. Which should they go to? Cheaper supplies and local intel at the smaller area across the river might be helpful. There are more people and access to a vast library of knowledge in the main city though. Which do you think would help more?

“Let’s get there then.” It wasn’t the best of strategies, but Aiden wasn’t trying to ground hog day loop his way through this. They could skip this until they found what they were looking for and then maybe they could double back to level grind if they needed to. Whatever the case, better to get through boring shit to he could use actual brain power on the real problems. He wondered if him being lucid would be any help on his dice rolls. Like maybe he could just will it to roll well, most of them. At least well during things like fights. Aiden made a face at the shorter druid. “Hey, everything in there has its place even if it isn’t labeled.” He countered defensively. Aiden hadn’t really noticed much of his room having entered it without turning on the light. He bumped into a couple of things only to kick them aside and knock out in his boxers. Something like that. [break][break]
At the reminder of their time limit in this world, Aiden grimaced. Almost at once, all the joy of being inside and rpg was sucked right out of it, and again it felt even more of a chore than this whole School Scheduling Dream had felt. Not that he could complain too much. Better than the weird Evil Shifters In The City dream. “Remind again why we haven’t gone to the hospital for that?” It was very clear why. This was dramatic, and a hospital visit would detract form the episode which was DND centric. Sure, Charani was undisposed, but like, this was still mainly a shonen or something. [break][break]
Aiden looked towards the city, aching to rush over there and start digging around for info, but he wasn’t prepared for anything. And he barely had any money except for what the dm had allowed him to have been found on him when he was unconscious. The small village might be locked if they bypassed it and went straight to the city. The city was obviously their main objective anyway. Fine, fine. “Let’s gear up over there. At least the basic stuff so we have more money for magic items.” He offered, as the group looked to him for his tie breaking opinion, which wasn’t a whole lot.
"I just came here to the party for the drugs Not here to make a friend or fall in love"
The room cut swiftly back to them playing in the school at Aiden poking questions. The brunette sighed and gave him a light jab in the arm when he suggested the hospital. That was for another episode apparently. The gender reveal and all that. Some wacky scheme for the others to find out since they would try to keep it a secret until the baby was born.
“Well I’m trying to delay the time before my sisters strangle you. That’s why. Now shut up and play.” The pregnant teen hummed with a small smile on his face. The Vice Presidents coughed as she turned there attention back to the quest. Anyway. ”So. Anyway back to what we were doing. Let’s just get to the city and call it a day. I’ve got homework er uh magic energy to recoup from today.” That was obviously a truth quickly turned into a lie to fit with their world. Whatever at least it meant the episode would be done soon right? Right. God how many of these would there be. If only they could just crush this and rip the guy out of the dream by force. They couldn’t do that though... could they?.
The path to the city was lined with stones and dirt almost like an actual road. It was far nicer the closer you got the the city. Well it looks like they could rest and maybe get some supplies at least. Maybe find an inn for the night? Or something of that like. “Maybe we should just find an Inn and do the searching tomorrow?.” The elvish boy said with the group of adventurers moving along the stone cobbled path to the dity gates. Should they just do that? Or should they explore more?
There are two guard at the gate talking to each other. They seemed to not notice the small party approachimg them. “Man this episode is kinda not turning out well. Maybe I’ll change it for the next.” The young wizard was mumbling this. Barely audible while biting his thumb. What should he change now?
