this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

Lynnelia never really took enough time for self-care; she was more concerned for her mission in life, but at her familiar’s insistence, she’d begun putting herself out there more often. Maybe it was because if the more people knew her as Ophélie, her cover would be steadfast as opposed to remaining a shadow in the dark. On the other side of the coin, however, it would make her easily recognizable should someone go searching for her — which someone undoubtedly is, or was at the very least — which is why she often changed her style of dress and her looks to avoid such things. [break] She’d heard of the Sun Cafe before, and she knew it was heavily occupied with members of Jester’s Den, though this did not bother her as she made her way through the residential area of Sundial to find it. Medea was accompanying her, as the fox had merely observed the establishment as opposed to stepped… paw into it, and was fueled with curiosity. [break] Do you think I’d be able to get myself some chamomile tea? I hope they’ll serve me, Medea wondered, an amused glint in her eye, though Lynn knew part of her was serious. [break] I could order two things and just give your tea to you. [break] She could feel Medea’s pleasant mood at her words, and graced the fox with a smile of her own. Finally, they had reached the cafe, and were met with a lively, pleasant atmosphere; it was a refreshing place to be, and the regret and worry Lynn held before had dissipated. [break] She waited for her turn to order, getting a chamomile tea as well as an English breakfast tea before taking a seat at one of the window tables. She almost laughed when she set down Medea’s tea on the floor where the large fox had laid down upon, giggling slightly when Medea slightly burnt her tongue before breathing cool air on the beverage, looking slightly disgruntled by what just happened.

Eira held little interest with the inner Sundial area and often kept herself away from its inner workings, only tolerating its crowded streets for the few essentials she needed; never allowing herself to stay longer than the allotted time that was necessary. She wasn’t particularly keen of the close proximity nor was she interested in the small off chance of someone connecting her to the family she willingly cut the ties to, she was content with the new lifestyle she led and she wasn’t willing for someone to tear it all down. Not yet at least. However, she broke the small rule she had for herself and took the plunge to visit a few popular places within the city.
She heard of others talk about the Sun Cafe from time to time, small snippets of conversation from strangers she would pass in her small shopping trips in Sundial though she never took the chance to visit the bustling cafe; the idea of the establishment being dominated by members of Jester’s Den deterring her away from it before. Yet, she felt comfortable this time around; her familiar gently pressed against her body as the two stepped in the cafe. Eira typically felt at ease with Lucia by her side, the calm and graceful rationale of the maned wolf was a comforting feeling.
I’m impressed, we never spend time in the city like this. It’s almost refreshing. Lucia spoke up, her gentle voice echoing inside her witch’s mind, I’m curious though... Why the sudden interest? You always prefer to leave.
Eira was unsure of the sudden change of heart herself, perhaps it was the slight curiosity that took hold of her or maybe she was just willing to break the routine she built for herself, I remember hearing good things about this particular cafe and it’s been awhile since I could enjoy some tea. She vaguely explained, only being greeted by her familiar’s hum of acknowledgment.
She would step into line after the brief conversation, waiting patiently to order a cup of rose tea and a glass of water when it was her turn to order. Eira would step out of line when the barista took her order before eventually retrieving the items she ordered for herself and Lucia though when she turned to find an available table she was greeted with a crowded cafe. It took her a moment to notice the available seats of one table and she casted an uncertain glance to Lucia.
Go ahead, Eira. She would hear moments after and with slight reluctance she stepped towards the table, “Excuse me, I didn’t expect the cafe to be so crowded today. Do you mind if I sit here?” Eira asked, her attention focusing on the white haired girl seated before her and if she received this stranger’s blessing she would sit down in one of the available seats.

[attr="class","casstempbody"]It is midday when Cassidy makes her way to the Sun Cafe, her familiar following close behind. With bright white fangs the color of snow, and piercing yellow eyes, he makes for an intimidating familiar--and he acts the part, as well. Nidus acts true to his real counterparts; aggressive, unruly, and entirely unkind. Despite that, Cassidy's managed to keep him in control--mostly.
"Tea?"
"Yes."
The Sun Cafe is one of the only coffee shops in town that allows familiars in--and many people have realized that. It's is more crowded than usual, and she ignores the stray stares of other witches as she passes. The line is incredoubly long, and she nearly leaves--but patience is a vitrue, she reminds herself, and eventually she edges her way to the front.
"Two cups of green tea, please."
If there's anything the two can agree on, it's tea.
If she thought the line was bad--the state of available seats was even worse. There's few of them unoccupied, and the ones that were would take entirely too much effort to hustle through; especially with a familiar as big as Nidus.
She eyes a half-decent one. There's already familiars there, so she wouldn't look too out of place. Cassidy reluctantly makes her way to the table and eyes the people sitting at the table. They look somewhat familiar --Leviathan, maybe?--perhaps it wouldn't be too terrible to strike up a conversation with them. "I'd also like to join, if you guys don't mind."

I’m surprised we found a seat, Medea hummed, lapping at her own tea, having effectively cooled it down. It is rather crowded today… curious. [break] Lynnelia didn’t see a point in answering, taking a tentative sip of her own tea, her pale blue eyes roaming over the bustle of people passing out and in of the establishment before wandering to peer out of the window. The cup felt warm against the palms of her hands, a welcome distraction to return her focus to reality; she had a habit of overthinking and drifting off in her thoughts, negative or not, always a bit too preoccupied with the workings of her mind, mulling over all she’d discovered over the years of endless investigation. [break] Her reverie was broken once Medea’s alert sounded; It seems someone is approaching us. Despite the fox’s call, she did not move — likely deciding whoever it was didn’t pose any threat to them. Lynn turned her head, an intrigued glint in her eyes. “Of course, I don’t mind; it is ridiculous, how many people are here,” she acquiesced with a small smile as a sort of welcome, her eyes drifting to the woman’s own familiar — a very beautiful one at that. Her smile grew at the sight; she was always so fascinated by the creatures. [break] Mere moments following their exchange, another voice chimed in, Lynn turning her head to throw her a smile as well. “I don’t mind, personally,” she assured with a sidelong glance at the first newcomer; she valued her opinion, as she had asked first, but she hoped there would be no issue. [break] She took another sip of her drink before deciding it was only proper to introduce herself — breaking the ice, if you will, as ironic as that sounded. “I’m Ophélie,” she murmured before pressing her lips to the rim of her cup. Sometimes she wondered if, after all the years, if saying her real name would feel foreign to her. She knew inside of herself that Lynnelia Arnett was still a person, but at times it became difficult to hold onto her. [break] Well, this is a pleasant turn of events. I’d like to think they’ll be good company, don’t you? [break] Lynnelia glanced at the fox a bit before turning her eyes back to her two companions. It’s definitely a surprise… [break] Medea gave a small nudge to Lynn’s calve; A good one, I hope.

Eira could hear the humming in the back of her mind, her familiar seeming rather pleased with how the situation seemed to turn in their favor though Lucia was quick to give a gentle nudge towards one of the available seats, “It’s appreciated, thank you.” Eira nodded her head to the girl as she placed her own drink on the table and leaned down soon after to place Lucia’s glass on the ground.
Shortly after their brief conversation, albeit a bit awkward, she started pulling out her own seat and settling down with a soft sigh underneath her breath though it hadn’t took long before another unfamiliar face would wander towards the table through such a crowded first floor. She hummed another her breath as the same question was presented and simply allowed herself to lapse into a comfortable silence, she wasn’t the one that had to deny or accept the stranger after all.
I see you’ll be interacting with quite a few new faces, be mindful of yourself… Lucia would speak up, a gentle reminder that Eira was not spending her time alone though she was confident that her witch would put up a kind front nevertheless; it was something that she had to do since such a young age after all, I’ll be fine Lucia. Eira reaffirmed bluntly.
“I’m Eira, pleasure.” She returned, moments after Ophélie had introduced herself and she was a bit thankful that her brief conversation with her own familiar didn’t distract her too much from their own conversation. Eira casted a brief glance to the maned wolf before she lifted her own cup to her lips; taking a small sip of the warm drink.

[attr="class","casstempbody"]"Thanks." She murmurs, settling herself on the corner of the table. It's crowded at best, and she finds herself leaning further into her seat to avoid touching the people around her. Her familiar squeezes in between chairs and scowls angrily. If she didn't know any better, she'd have returned him to his own realm, but when she sees that he reluctantly laps at the tea, she doesn't protest. "My name is Cassidy." She says, sipping at her tea. It's earthy and slightly sweet; a flavor subtle enough to grant her satisfaction. She may just visit the cafe again--if it weren't so crowded all the time.
"So...what brings you all here?" She asks. Cassidy's not the best conversationalist, but she tries. Her crowd of friends would say differently--if anything, she's a fan of silence and quiet moments, where she can dwell in her thoughts. In this cafe, it's hard to even hear herself think. Maybe it's because the other two seem even more reserved than her--or maybe it's because she's in an unreasonably good mood today, but regardless, she'd just like to spend her time in good company.

“Likewise,” Lynnelia bowed her head slightly as she spoke, sincere in her words. [break] “Well,” Lynnelia murmured once the two fellow witches had taken their seats and Cassidy had inquired as to their motives. She first brought her cup to her lips, sipping carefully before setting it back down. Lynnelia tapped her fingers for a brief moment, an almost nervous habit, before continuing her thought. "Aside from getting a drink, I’ve personally never come here before, so I thought I’d pop in for a bit. But, it seems as though I’ve picked a rather bad time to visit.” [break] She let out a short laugh to lighten the conversation a bit; Lynnelia was never particularly charismatic or “smooth” as they’d say, but she didn’t really know them, and the only thing they had in common so far was their presence in the cafe and their need for a place to sit. [break] Medea help, I don’t know how to talk to people. [break] You’re doing perfectly fine; you talked to complete strangers for a good while at the beach the other day, don’t you start doubting yourself now, the fox’s reassuring lilt filtered into Lynn’s thoughts, though Medea didn’t look at her, merely lapping up more of her own drink. [break] “Oh! Yeah, the tea tastes lovely here. Medea” — Lynn gestured to the overgrown, beautiful fox, whose ears perked up at the mention of her name — “has been wanting to try their chamomile tea for a while now, actually. She’s the main reason I’m here; she sort of convinced me.” Lynnelia had a fond look on her face when speaking of her familiar, as she really did hold the creature very close to her heart, a feeling that was reciprocated on the opposite end. [break] Medea laid there for a moment, finally shifting her piercing gaze to regard the two women before deciding to speak, something she didn’t do often. [break] “Yes, the brew is rather good here; I have to say I’m a bit impressed,” the fox remarked smoothly, her velvet tones rippling through the air before she went back to surveying the cafe. [break] You talking to other people? That’s a first, Lynn teased, though gave no indication that her attention was momentarily elsewhere. [break] Medea gave a small, almost inaudible chuff at her witch’s words. Oh, please, it’s not that uncommon, Lynn. [break] Lynnelia had to resist giving the fox a knowing look. [break] Whatever helps you sleep at night, foxy.
