this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

They work quite quickly and efficiently, to Ling's sort-of surprise. In all honesty, she's... usually very easily distracted when doing non-rune related stuff. Very easily distracted. Like, oh hey look it's a butterfly easily distracted - though, okay, maybe she's a bit prone to exaggeration too. It only happened once, in her defence, and it was a very pretty butterfly, and totally worth chasing.
Anyways. She's getting off track.
So yeah, her lack of distraction probably has something to do with the quiet witch that is her fellow coven member. Ling resolves to drag Elih out somewhere fun to relax after this.
"I should probably clean this up too..." Ling muses half to herself, eyeing her messy unpacking. Side-eyeing Elih's work - it's neater, much neater. Not that that would be a surprise to anyone. "Hey hey Elih," she says as she begins to rectify her mess. "Since Valerus isn't back yet, do you want to go help out with the food?"
"Also," and her mind jumps tangents, as it often does, "Have you ever gone to Amagika Park before? What do you think about going?"

Claire finishes unloading her quota of crates. She stretches, and she feels her joints creak from the strain. She exhales and sighs. Another job done. She glances at Vera then, seeing as she isn't finished with the crates, and she makes a move to help but then--
Claire looks in time to see the crowd split in half, and in the middle reveals Rowvenna Shephard. "Vera, let's go," Claire calls without looking at the girl, hoping she would catch the gist and follow Claire. She skirts around the crowd to get close to the master, and she isn't the only Knight to do it. She and the other Knights find themselves being shooed away, and Claire stares in awe. Rowvenna doesn't need protection, it's a given.
So instead of following the woman, Claire forges ahead and towards the Knight's Hall. She orders the Knights in station to prepare for Rowvenna's arrival. Soon enough, if she followed course, she would arrive. The door is wide open, her path clear, Knights bowing before her. Claire stands at the entrance, and regards the master. "Welcome, Miss Shephard," Claire would say, head down as Rowvenna passes. "If you want anything else, we are here."
Briefly she wonders if Ling and Elih had found Valerus Blaze. She wonders if he is led to the quarters properly. Claire hasn't had the time to check, she could only hope the answer to that is yes.

[attr="class","elihcontent"]SOMEHOW, THE COYOTE is better at this than he is. they work in relative silence, a little bubble of quiet amidst the bustle of the room; the only noise he cares to note being the shuffle of materials shifting as they meticulously unpack the boxes. he is painfully careful about placement and its like. not perfect, he thinks to himself, staring critically at the pile he has amassed, but it will do.[break][break]
he looks over at ling's progress, and, just slightly, envies the casual and relaxed way in which she works. elih self-consciously straightens up, makes some vague effort to set his shoulders back in a, supposedly, more confident ( and entirely non-elih-like ) manner. something makes a suspicious cracking noise, and he tries not to wince. he is also fairly certain that it was something in his back.[break][break]
"i can help," he offers quietly, moving to assist ling in neatening up the pile at its periphery. hamster hovers, darts around, even sits by ling and offers an amiable canine grin. "and, yeah, that sounds good to me." his brows draw together ever so slightly. "i'm not a very good cook, though."[break][break]
ling moves on to another question before he has time to gather a response. ( an adequate response, by his calculations and past experiences, takes approximately two days to formulate, and often beyond any threshold of salvaging a conversation. it typically , especially, applies to smart comebacks. ) "i-- uh-- no?" he blinks in surprise. "i mean, i'd like to go? i just don't normally-- don't have many friends who'd invite me out for that sort of stuff." [break][break]
frankly, he doesn't have many friends in general, and even fewer who would tolerate the burden of his company on a designated 'fun day' such as a visit to amagika, but he leaves that part unsaid.[break][break]

Decorating seemed to mostly be winding down. There couldn't be that many more things to do. Sure this was a big hall and everything but this couldn't last forever. He knew that. He did see someone he didn't expect to see here this early. It was a very pretty lady who he'd only maybe seen in passing once or twice since he'd joined the Helios Knights.
There standing maybe 20 feet from him was the one and only Rowenna Shephard. One of the faces of the Helios Knights. One of the most powerful people in the coven... the whole country possibly even. She was someone to be feared politically. She was intimidating to say the least. Or so he had been told. He had never actually spoken to the woman. He'd rarely spoken to anyone higher up in the coven. It just wasn't done.
He gave a small wave, body language oozing so much insecurity and nervousness. It was like a small child trying not to be noticed. Fear attempting to be masked with every step. It would all be fine as long as she didn't talk to him. She has better things to do right? Much better things than to talk to an apprentice like him.
He went to work hanging some decorations instead. He was trying to distract himself from being in the presence of someone so nerve wracking. He was honestly just to honest with how he was feeling. Not verbally of course he tried his best to hide those fact. His body language constantly betrayed him though. He needed to be less weak. He needed strength. He needed them to protect people. To protect Percy.

A blush, a nod, and a feeling of airheadedness follow the blonde woman's answer. It's not only the fact that High Priestess Medeia Trevil was mentioned (of course she'd be mentioned; when wasn't she?) It's more the casual way that she's addressed, using just her given name, that gives Vera the feeling that she's in the presence of someone way beyond her league. She should feel lucky, but instead she's busy staying wary about every step she takes and everything she says. Embarrassing herself in front of someone so important in the ranks... well, that would certainly make her father scream at her for days, wouldn't it?
When she's asked for help unloading the crates, she's determined to do it as silently and efficiently as she can manage, trying to imitate the way she expects the novice to carry herself. Not very successfully, if one may add. "Vera! My name's Vera. Vera Lindt. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Claire," she exclaims, that very same excitable disposition betraying her goals.
If even Claire finds the crates heavy, Vera really has no words to describe her own efforts. She laughs. It's nervous laughter above all, though there is certainly a hilarious factor hidden somewhere in there. While the former's already unloaded five of them, the latter's still struggling with her first, all along wondering if she ought to cheat and use magic instead. She could swear Claire's turning around to see how she's doing with her share of crates, and in one last moment of bravery (or desperation, really), she wingardium leviosas her way through the last couple of crates.
"What were those even filled with?" she asks conversationally.
Vera isn't sure what suddenly caught Claire's attention, and saved her from imminent embarrassment. She doesn't have time to wonder, either. Before being left behind, she hurries to tail after the taller young woman. There's not much for her to say, with Claire giving out orders and herself simply standing meekly beside her and bowing her head in respectful greeting to the redhaired witch. "We hope you find the accommodations to your liking," she adds, half-awestruck, before turning to Claire for guidance on what to do next.
The very first thing that comes into Claire's mind, is that she hopes she would be friends with Vera. That would be a shot at the moon, simply because Claire has no time to work in building relationships. It makes her sad, no doubt about that. "Yes, acquaintances," Claire settles with it, and acknowledges it's better than strangers.
Claire picks up a crate and heaves it in place. The moment she turns Claire sees crates levitate one by one, and she raises an eyebrow. Apparently a lot of witches have that scroll. "From what I know it's filled with equipment for the cup. Wands, brooms, scroll holders."
Claire still wants to ask more about the scroll, but then time isn't permitting them. Rowvenna Shephard has arrived, and the two scrambles to meet her. Claire stands at the entrance of the Hall, bowing as the master passes. When the excitement from Rowvenna's arrival dissipated Claire moves again to meet with Vera.
"We should be finishing soon," Claire says. "Just a few more decorations to put up. Here, this would be last. Then we can rest."
And so Claire works. She orders Vera to hand her decorations. She volunteers to put them up, she has the height advantage after all, but still she asks Vera on where to put it exactly as to not be an eyesore. Claire is not artsy, and so she struggles with these kind of things.
Soon enough they're done. "Good work for both of us." It's probably time to leave, but then...
"I hope to see you around, Vera. Don't hesitate to see me if you need any help." And it's not just her, but all the people she bossed met this day. With that, Claire takes her exit.

There is something about the way Claire responds to her introduction that makes Vera wonder if she did anything wrong. Have I offended her somehow? Does she think me an eyesore? she unwittingly asks her familiar. She doesn't see why there would be any need to emphasize the acquaintances part. Unsure of what else to say to that, all she can manage is another nod and one of those wide smiles of hers. And don't even get her started with Claire's no-nonsense approach to all topics—Boy, was she intimidated.
Vera's glad that Claire knows what she's doing. "Gotcha," she says, following her towards one of the empty-looking pillars nearby. She hands Claire the decorations, and is glad when she asks for her opinion on where exactly to place them. Until then, she'd felt like she hadn't done much at all to help, but her opinion being sought makes that feeling dissipate, if only momentarily. Decorating has always been her favorite part of baking, and so she takes this task on happily.
"Yup! Great work today," she agrees. A toothy smile comes over her before she realizes who it is she's speaking to and her nerves come rushing back. Luckily for her, or unluckily perhaps, Claire decides she's done here and takes her leave with a reassuring message that makes Vera reconsider her impression of the young woman. Perhaps she wasn't as serious and uptight and scary as Vera assumed her to be.
"Likewise! I mean, the part about hoping to see you again, of course. I doubt I'll be of much help if—Oh, I'm blabbering. Don't mind me. See you around, Claire."
She wonders if she'll see her participating in the Cup.
