this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.
The Ventarium in Mirrorlight Metropolis has been forced to undergo unexpected repairs not long after one of their Sky Narwhals gave birth. With no suitable containment location for both the mother and children, they are looking for responsible witches to help monitor, entertain, and care for the babies to ensure that they don't get separation anxiety or escape their temporary enclosure.

It’s not often that the chance to make easy money comes along, but when it does Corvus was always there ready to take it. Babysitting? Easy peasy. Babysitting sky narwhals? Lemon squeazy. Way better than having to pickpocket other witches for cash, which fortunately, he had yet to get noticed. It helped he wasn’t a fan of the ‘running into someone’ trick. Sure, waiting for other people to run into each other took longer, but shit, when you didn’t have a con partner it was all you had. Philippe wasn’t interested in snatching up spare change anyway. ”It’s beneath me.” He’d say and nag the boy to get a real job. Or, take a real mission.
Sure, sure. Saying that was easy. But he had yet to find an assignment his caliber or to his tastes. So spare change it was. This, and cleaning out the wishing fountains for coin was all he’d been doing for the past couple of days. But now, it was narwhals. Cloud…shaped…narwhals. Yes!! Philippe didn’t find it as amusing, but he rarely found anything amusing.
So, there he was, checking in with the Ventarium coordinator before being ushered in and handed a baby to hold. Corvus nearly dropped the animal, freaked out by the massive appearance of the mother, but she seemed docile. So, carefully, he took a few steps away from the mom, much to an employee’s entertainment, and looked over the baby. It was kind of sleepy looking. Probably tired from all the people buzzing around their containment. “Uh…guys?” he asked, piping up and looking around. “This one needs to go night night not, uh, play time.” He stated holding out his baby skywhal and hoping someone would switch it out with a livelier one.

Who could not struggle to cuddle such cute little creations? The young witch had been taken in and quickly given a sky baby to hold and love forever and ever. Okay maybe not forever but this moment just needed to last that long. They were so soft, squishy and just so cute. Like a fluffy warm cloud mixed with a kitten.
More and more people started to make their way in as time went on. There were quite a few babies in the litter so that wasn't surprising. This was a rather easy mission with such cute animals she expected to see a lot of young girls her age here. It was a nice way to spend her time. What she did not expect was the dumbest person in the world to show up.
The little thing in her arms started to squirm a bit and make little whiny noises. It obviously didn't need to use the restroom because her clothes would already be a mess if that were the case. It was probably hungry. The young woman cradled the thing like a newborn baby and went to grab a bottle for the thing. It was then that the annoyance spoke up.
"Then rock it to sleep dumbass." That was what she said as she grabbed for a bottle to feed the baby narwhal that was in her arms. The cute little thing just latched onto the thing and started sucking away. How cute. How so freaking cute. She was so happy this was a thing and nothing could ruin her day. Nothing.

There are fragments of possessions
"Right there should be just fine -- thank you both, you've been such a wonderful help!" Raziel says with an appreciative smile as a pair of their assistants place down a crate, careful to avoid squishing any drifting narwhals beneath.
As it turns out, the Ventarium's urgent need for repairs and supplies made for a shining business opportunity for anyone with large sums of readily available gold. Conveniently enough, the merchant had exactly that. In exchange for emergency funds, Raziel would get a cut of future profits (and a few other allowances which likely didn't seem terribly significant to the Ventarium owners at the time).
And now, in part to express their gratitude and in part due to their new contractual obligation, they had arrived with toys and other supplies for the displaced sky narwhals. The chest is opened, and a shelf filled with colorful gifts rises up from inside. The merchant's eyes first spot the balls which seem to hover as light as air and the little narwhal-shaped sweaters (presumably for the babies whose cloudlike fluff hadn't yet grown in). He had to wonder where on earth the assistant in charge of this purchase found some of these things, but also made a mental note to give them a bonus for their impressive thoroughness.
Picking up a few of the things, Raz walks over to Corvus and offers forth a pastel blanket. "This might help it sleep," they offer, with just a bit of uncertainty due to having no real life experience with narwhals of any variety.

Ouch. Talk about harsh. It was just a question. He frowned a bit but didn’t really find it in him to muster up something more than, “Oh, ok.” And look back down at the tired baby. To be fair, he didn’t think the sleepy skywhal needed much more coaxing, already halfway into dreamland at this point. He watched the girl for a moment, adjusting his hold on the skywhal before trying to gently rock it to sleep. Though, it seemed the jostling seemed to make it more alert. Was that too fast? The baby wiggled, and he slowed down significantly. It seemed fine now at least. He could feel the baby animal breathing.
Just as he was about to ask the girl for her opinion, he turned to a different witch. “Oh- yeah, thanks!” he piped up a little loudly causing the baby in his arms to whine something at him. He tried patting its side to soothe it before taking the blanket with one hand. “Just a- just a second.” He stage whispered as he held up his knee to awkwardly balance the baby skywhal in one arm and carefully begin wrapping it with the other. In a few minutes he had properly covered up the baby narwhal and it looked more like a giant burrito than an animal. But it was still extremely cute.
“How’s this? Looks right, right?” he asked turning his head towards the other girl, hoping to have redeemed himself. He doubted this would be the case however, as he got a better look at the witch that had so readily snapped at him. Oh. Oh fuck. He patted the baby in his arms, though it was more to calm himself down than help the baby who was already knocked out. He turned his head back to the other witch, pretending he had been speaking to them all along. “Thanks ah-…uh…you.” he said faltering as he reached for a name without having received one. “I’m. Corvus.” he stage whispered hoping the other girl had definitely not recognized him or at the very least wasn’t planning on socking him upside the head. She wouldn’t. She couldn’t. He had a baby. A baby meat shield. She wouldn’t dare.

She had of course noticed Corvus. She notice him as soon as she studied him for more than a second. They essentially grew up together how could she not recognize him. She was only a child when she joined the circus so she had a hard time remembering the time before. All she knew was that it wasn't good. She however remembered the circus life well.
The teenage girl stepped up from her sitting position; swaddling the tiny narwhal baby like it was an infant. She made her way calmly over towards both corvus kasparian and raziel of the autumn court with a smile on her face. "I love your look you look like a cute little doll." Raziel did look like a little angel doll and it was so cute. This pleased Siobhan and she loved the look. They were such a cute little thing she just wanted to pick Raziel up and put them in her pocket. How could you not?
On the other hand Corvus was also here. He still didn't have a girlfriend probably. Not that he probably ever would given how... he was. I mean look at him."I see you're here too Corvy. Not even a hug for your cutest cousin? She was playing nice it seemed at least. Maybe it was because of the meat shield in front of her? Or she was trying to get him to let down his guard. No doubt this was only a momentary sparing of her fist. She was still mad at him for stealing her cheese puffs. Sure that had been maybe a few years ago but that didn't matter. Her wrath was ensured. Right now though she had this fluffy ball in her hands though.

There are fragments of possessions
"Of course -- take your time," Raziel softly assures the purple haired stranger as he struggles with wrapping up the fluffy creature. The merchant almost asked if the other needed some help, but he seemed quite determined to do this on his own. Even so, Raziel's arms were held just slightly forward, poised to grab the newborn in case the witch were to fall. Thankfully, their caution was unneeded.
The stranger was rather strange, though... Raziel couldn't shake the feeling that waking the narwhal in his arms wasn't the only reason he was whispering. "Razel," they offer warmly when the other struggles for a name. "And the little one looks very cozy," they compliment on the other's narwhal bundling abilities with a gentle smile.
The girl whom Corvus had kept glancing at just moments before stands and approaches, and immediately indicates that she has excellent aesthetic taste.
"Thank you, Miss. Your own style is quite cute as well," they reply, then ask: "Oh! You're related?" The two didn't look related at all, but it might explain Corvus's odd reactions to her.

Candamius couldn’t believe that she was late for her mission in Mirrorlight Metropolis. She had used a Teleportation Gate at the Helios Knight Headquarters and now she she was scurrying to the location in which she was to meet the other witches to watch over the Narwals.
It’s no good running, Kokabiel remarked, disgruntled, as he clung to her shoulder as she ran down the street. It won’t get you there any faster. When you try to hurry it often takes you longer.
Dami didn’t argue. There was no point because when Kokabiel was in such a mood common sense didn’t reach him. Instead she said, “Just stop complaining and hold on.” She tried to accelerate her speed, but Candamius was not accustomed to running for long stretches. She was more of a natural sprinter.
You should exercise more, Kokabiel commented, hearing her huff and puff as she went.
“Oh—” Candamius’ face was already flushed from her efforts, but now her cheeks seemed to become brighter. “Just—please stop talking!” she replied plaintively. The last thing she needed to be was harassed by the little sugar glider.
Her furry familiar complied to her request, holding onto her robes as she ran. It was only a little bit farther and then she finally reached her destination. Panting and heaving, she gave herself a moment to compose herself. She didn’t want to go in looking like a total mess.
When she finally had caught her breath enough to not sound like she had been so taxed in getting here, she quietly walked into enclosure, joining the other witches.
“Sorry I’m late,” she said, still slightly breathy but fortunately not raspy, announcing her arrival.

It’s too late, and Siobhan recognizes him and honestly, he at least wanted to be a little bit more prepared for when he had to face her again. He needed like, a 20-minute prep time to jazz himself up for it. “Ah, not right now Siobhan…Hands full and all that. But, uh, it’s good to see you again.” He said quickly as he held up the baby skywal to emphasize his point. He turned to the other witch who had gotten him the blanket, thank the gods. “Raziel.” He echoed for a moment, gold eyes scanning the knight before there’s a soft smile and a nod. “Nice to meet you.” He gave the baby animal in his arms a glance, noting that despite the awkward job and unwillingness to hand over the baby, the skywal was sleeping pretty soundly. Good. “Oh, thank you. I don’t really have a lot of…babysitting experience.”
He paled as Raziel made the connection. A bit of sweat flashing at the back of his neck. “Y-yeah. Cousins actually, same last name though.” The witch clarified, looking over at Siobhan and then back at Raziel to clear up any imminent confusion. They did look pretty different, but she beat him up like any sister would their brother, right? Right.
He’s relieved to hear another voice pipe up if only for the distraction for Siobhan. The less attention she paid him the better. “Oh, hello. Are you here for the narwhals?” he asked the girl but instead of stepping forward to hand her a baby he stepped back to let Siobhan and Raziel deal with this and hopefully, forget about him. Mainly his cousin. He was scared she would try to sneak a hit in if he got to close and attempted to keep a healthy distance between him and her.
