this is Salem, a land filled with magic and maladies. It is a place where witches and their elemental familiars gather, a home to legend and
lore that predates time itself. Yet of all the wicked and wonderful stories the past can tell us of, the most magical are the ones yet to happen.
This is Salem - this is the start of your very own journey. Welcome to starfall
Starfall is an animaga witch roleplay set in mostly modern times. Members play as witches in a world plagued by monsters, where the only safe spots are walled cities. Starfall strives to be a character-driven roleplay with expansive lore and a highly interactive plotline. We want to allow members to
create and look back on a magical journey, and mold the site and its plot as their characters grow.

name of scroll: Tinker's Touch: Quikfix history: Tinker's Touch is a collection of scrolls meant to help the community in terms of magical engineering, aka crafting. The collection was compiled with the help of several people, including Zephyr Hart and Matteo Garcia. It's pretty new, but the scrolls have proved helpful, if at times a little quirky. affinity: for anyone tbh description: Need something fixed quickly? As long as the object is of a relatively small size (no larger than a small sidetable), using this scroll will get it fixed in a few seconds! Admittedly, sometimes the repaired object will not look like the original, and for inexperienced witches, the spell may backfire if they don't envision the object properly, but generally, the spell is good for quick fixes in times of trouble. It works best for those with the magical engineering affinity, but it should work for others, too.
name of scroll: Tinker's Touch: UP-grade history: Tinker's Touch is a collection of scrolls meant to help the community in terms of magical engineering, aka crafting. The collection was compiled with the help of several people, including Zephyr Hart and Matteo Garcia. It's pretty new, but the scrolls have proved helpful, if at times a little quirky. affinity: magical engineering description: Once this scroll is used, the object in question will be momentarily upgraded to its best shape. Usually, this means the object will be 'as good as new'. It's perfect for use on weapons or other appliances that tend to break down. The effects wear off after a few minutes, though, so use it quickly. It will not, however, replenish any sort of ammunition nor will it refill potion bottles.
name of scroll: Tinker's Touch: Glue Jinx history: Tinker's Touch is a collection of scrolls meant to help the community in terms of magical engineering, aka crafting. The collection was compiled with the help of several people, including Zephyr Hart and Matteo Garcia. It's pretty new, but the scrolls have proved helpful, if at times a little quirky. affinity: magical engineering description: Once cast, the glue jinx will make a space extremely sticky, as if it was coated in super glue. The size of the area depends on both the strength of the user and the amount of control the user exerts. Admittedly, it's been known to cause a few mishaps, but at least the glue area has never been larger than 5x5 meters. Be careful with it or you might be stuck. To get rid of the jinx, you just need to yell 'unstick!' but sometimes it doesn't work so...
fall notes: Quikfix approved. Glue Jinx created as enhancement scroll due to its nature as a jinx. UP-grade denied due to potential abuse of capabilities
name of scroll: AN ASSORTMENT OF CHARMS, SCROLL #8: COMPACT JINX history: One of the nasty jinxes that has been around for a very long time and known by many, though nobody is quite sure who made it. Since it's a jinx, it only has purposes to harm or annoy a person, so it isn't the most commonly practised but is still fun to use. affinity: enchantment description: The spell is applied to a non-living target through touch. The object will glow briefly before fading away and will show no clear visible signs of being jinxed (unless detected by other means). When the object is activated through touch or by using it in the intended way, it will then crush in on itself e.g. a wardrobe will start to snap and bend until it's a small compact ball of wood. Weaker witches can only use this on objects the size of a chair and of weaker materials, whereas skillful witches could use it on something like a suit of metal armour or small room. modification permission: yis
name of scroll: TRANSPORTATION SCROLL, ZIPPEROO history: This scroll doesn't seem to be part of a collection and instead stands on its own. The creator of the scrollbook is known as Meave Glottal, chief of a mining company a long time ago. She found problems with getting the miners too and from underground quickly and so, made this scroll. affinity: enchantment/ weaving description: A spell that must be used twice in order to gain its desired effect. One spell will be cast in a location such as the entrance to a house, while the other is cast on an object, often something that can be worn or draped around oneself. When someone wears said object, their bodies will be compressed into a raw magical form and will be quickly sent flying to the location that was marked. Beginning witches can only create objects that travel a single person to a location that's within a 30 feet radius, while a more experienced witch can enchant something to transport multiple people to a distance within a 100 feet radius. modification permission: yh
name of scroll: GUIDE TO WEAKENING, SCROLL #1: BASIC UNDERSTANDING history: A scroll that seems to have been around for eternity and because of this, nobody knows the true origin of this guide. It is a basic principle learned by most witches dabbling in the art of altering the components of a target. affinity: enchantment/ augmentation/ anyone description: A scroll that teaches the basics of weakening objects. With this scroll, a witch will be able to alter the material of a small object that can fit within two hands. The strength will only go down by one stage eg. Metal > Stone > Wood > Glass > Paper. This means that you can not make a stone wall as weak as glass. This applies to all levels of witches, since other scrolls are needed to learn more experienced spells of this kind. modification permission: yes
name of scroll: GUIDE TO WEAKENING, SCROLL #2: SKIP A STAGE history: A scroll that seems to have been around for eternity and because of this, nobody knows the true origin of this guide. It is a basic principle learned by most witches dabbling in the art of altering the components of a target. affinity: enchantment/ augmentation description: A scroll that teaches the basics of weakening objects. With this scroll, a witch will be able to alter the material of a medium sized object like a wall. The strength of object can go down two stages eg. Metal to Wood or Stone to Glass. This applies to all levels of witches, since other scrolls are needed to learn more experienced spells of this kind. modification permission: yes
name of scroll:GUIDE TO WEAKENING, SCROLL #3: AREA HEX history:A scroll that seems to have been around for eternity and because of this, nobody knows the true origin of this guide. Witches who particularly take an interest in weakening will take their time to learn more advanced techniques. It takes a lot of concentration to do the later spells in this guide and will test who is committed to the art. affinity: enchantment/ augmentation description: Following the same principle, the witch is able to weaken a target. However, with this spell, they will learn to weaken a larger area around them. This scroll is now all about the skill of the caster, meaning that inexperienced witches can only weaken a smaller area a little bit compared to an adept witch. An example of the more experienced spell would be making a concrete ground as brittle as glass, meaning a simple stomp could send cracks through the ground. modification permission: yes
name of scroll: GUIDE TO WEAKENING, SCROLL #10: BRITTLE BONES HEX history: A scroll that seems to have been around for eternity and because of this, nobody knows the true origin of this guide. An uncommon scroll that doesn't have the best reputation among witches due to it's nasty purposes. This scroll can only be utilised properly by strong witches. affinity: enchantment description: By chanting the ancient text that is written on this scroll, a person is able to gradually weaken the bones of a single living target. The longer the chant goes on for, the weaker the bones become (if more than one person chants this spell the process will speed up). The chant can easily be stopped with a simple distraction such as a push or a shove and requires the caster to be immobile. Once the chant ends, the bones will remain in their weakened state for about a day before returning to normal. Weaker witches can try to do this, but it could easily backfire on them self or the wrong target. modification permission: yes
name of scroll: WALL OF STALLING SCROLL history: This scroll isn't in fact very old and was put together by a group of witches some years back. They enhanced the basic 'stalling' scroll so it could cover a wider area. It was mainly used to defend against waves of monsters who tried to attack cities and get past their walls. affinity: enchantment description: By holding their hands in the air, the witch can form a wall of mana which appears in a collection of small squares which appear and disappear rapidly. Despite looking like glass, the wall of squares is very durable and at its weakest, can cover a small group of witches from arrows or stones. When used by an experienced witch, it can cover a width of 150 feet and block against magical attacks as well as non-magical. However, this spell was not made to be used by a single witch, and requires at least 2 witches in order for it to be properly effective and cover very large areas - luckily, it is a common scroll so there's usually someone else who knows this spell. modification permission: yes
fall notes: "TRANSPORTATION SCROLL, ZIPPEROO" approved. "WALL OF STALLING SCROLL" approved as "STALLING SCROLL". "GUIDE TO WEAKENING" series initially not approved.
Revisiting "GUIDE TO WEAKENING" series -- concepts of first 3 scrolls used for "REVERSE AUGMENTATION: WEAKENING", and SCROLL #10 as "AN ASSORTMENT OF CHARMS, SCROLL #10: BRITTLE BONES" also approved as an advanced enhancement scroll

name of scroll: precise purification: scapel
history: while its origins are unclear, this spell supposedly has roots in breaking long-term curses and hexes. present-day use has seen it grow tremendously in its general applicability, adding greatly to the reputation of purifiers being 'troubleshooters', or even bomb disposal specialists.
affinity: purification
description: while 'break flow' shines in spontaneity, scapel is a purifier's precision tool, and in a steady hand, is able to cut through mana in a thin line. typically, it is used as the first step to disabling 'static' mana such as that in runes or enchanted objects, and is seldom seen in combat situations. this is the type of spell that grows with the witch's experience -- a fledgling purifier is unlikely to be able to sustain the spell long enough to fully disable a rune or enchantment. furthermore, the longer the mana has existed in its present state, the more difficult it is to fully purify it.
Matteo GarciaSybil Chimemaddox rothscus ✨ [break][break] your lore has been accepted! thank you for adding to the world of starfall. it will be added to the encyclopedia soon.

name of scroll: Tin Man affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: A mechanical humanoid which can be programmed to complete basic tasks and lift heavy objects. The lower the crafter's skill, the clumsier and less expressive it is. High-level crafters can create tin men with eerie levels of sentience.
name of scroll: Cloudcutter affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: This device looks similar to a windsurfing board, but quite literally rides the wind rather than the waves. Although more cumbersome in size and shape than the average broomstick, it is significantly faster.
name of scroll: Gates affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: These pages illustrate a variety of designs for doorways, windows, and metal hoops. When activated, the frame of these structures manipulates mana in such a way that it links up with its identical sister frame, effectively creating a temporary portal from one to the other. Although the destination is limited and predictable, long distances are no issue.
name of scroll: Dune Rider affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: This large wheeled dune buggy was built to traverse harsh terrains with more endurance than any living creature, magical or not. Its speed can be enhanced by its passengers injecting it with their own mana.
name of scroll: Mana Canister affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: Much like a battery, this canister can store mana and protect it in areas where mana would normally be drained. The canister can be charged by any witch. Afterwards, the mana within can be utilized by anyone who pricks the wire-like connectors into their skin. The maximum amount which can be stored depends on the crafter's level.
name of scroll: Striders affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: A mechanical exoskeleton designed to completely encase human legs. In addition to making long jogs painless, they give the wearer incredible force behind their kicks and jumps, as well as significantly reduced damage from falls. These pages include an alternate design for individuals without legs.
name of scroll: Climbers affinity: Magical Engineering / Crafting description: A minimal mechanical exoskeleton designed for a human figure. The portions framing the wearer's limbs are built to stick to any surface, while the portions around the joints minimize the strength needed to push against gravity.
The Forbidden Pages history: This book of scrolls is not available in most libraries or markets, as the spells contained within are morally unsavory, dealing primarily with modifying data stored within the mind. It was first written many years ago by an unnamed member of Leviathan when the coven was at its height. modification permission: ya
name of scroll: Mental Block affinity: Atheneum description: This fairly involved spell can block out a memory from a person's mind. Due to its casting length, it is generally advisable to perform this while the target is sleeping or unconcious. However, memories are tricky things; if pieces of the memory are left unaccounted for, the residual traces can unravel the mental block altogether. This makes memories which are core to a person's being incredibly difficult to block out, especially for low-level atheneums.
name of scroll: Memory Rewrite affinity: Atheneum description: This spell can slightly alter a person's memory, causing them to misremember details about a person, event, process, etc. It cannot cause them to entirely forget something, nor construct entirely new memories. Especially skilled casters can subtly use this on crowds of people all at once.
name of scroll: Thought Seed affinity: Atheneum description: This fairly involved spell can plant an idea in a person's mind. Due to its casting length, it is generally advisable to perform this while the target is sleeping or unconcious. Minor thoughts which are not uncharacteristic of the target are easiest to take hold, as it is incredibly easy to resist if the target realizes that the thought has been pushed upon them. However, the frequent and persistent use of this spell upon a single target over a long period of time has been historically proven to significantly alter their way of thinking.

name of scroll: plant sense affinity: plantshaping description: though shapers already possess an innate sense for the plants, this allows shapers to identify and locate a specific plant of their choosing, or a group of a particular species, making it easier to collect materials or invaluable in navigating a forest.
name of scroll: belladonna affinity: plantshaping description: a staple for anyone studying natural poisons. allows the shaper to identify and extract mana-charged toxins from a plant of their choice, in a liquid form. typically used for further research, or a component for alchemy.
wardens of the wild history: regarded more as part of folklore and myth than anything applied in modern uses of magic, the pages are yellowed; the first edition begins with a prologue detailing one witch's travels with an enigmatic group who deemed themselves guardians of the forest. while some scrolls seem undecipherable, the ones that are still legible shed some insight into potential combat applications of this affinity. modification permission: hell yeah
name of scroll: entangle affinity: plantshaping description: the shaper can lay a trap in any area where the ground may allow for plant growth. when triggered, grasping weeds and vines sprout rapidly and ensnare their target. the radius of such a spell, as well as the strength of the vines, depends on the witch's rank.
name of scroll: barrier affinity: plantshaping description: in a location where the surroundings would allow for it, the shaper can cause a wall of thorns and vines to grow rapidly from the ground, and remains in place unless otherwise moved or destroyed. the height and width of the wall depends on the witch's rank.
name of scroll: thorn affinity: plantshaping description: the shaper is able to augment an existing plant construct with thorns, though it requires intricate knowledge of the plant that they are manipulating. it is easier with plant types that are naturally inclined towards having such outgrowths, or constructs of their own making. 'thorn' is used generally here, and could refer to thorns, spines, or prickles, the extent and coverage of which would depend on the witch's rank.
name of scroll: commune affinity: plantshaping description: with some concentration and effort, the shaper is able to gain knowledge of their surrounding natural land in terms of bodies of water, prevalent plants and minerals, or a general physical map of the area. the spell is maintained through contact with some form of plant life of substantial size or age, and is ineffective in a largely constructed setting. the expanse of land covered is affected by the witch's rank.

BELTANE'S GRIMOIRE : magehunter history: a series of scrolls published by reputable helios knight purifier cedric beltane, known for his strict upholding of duty and order -- though popular opinion among readers still hold that he's somewhat of a pretentious ass. regardless, it's difficult to refute the quality of his work. modification permission: idk what im doing hell ya name of scroll: detection affinity: purification description: a basic spell for purifiers, this allows the witch to sense the presence of mana manipulation in a large radius, and is particularly useful in locating a starting-point to begin any environmental purification. unlike the 'clear sight' volumes, this spell does not help in identifying the affinity used, though could aid in coming to a conclusion.
name of scroll: purge affinity: purification description: useful for removing long-lasting hexes and jinxes, this allows the witch to reverse the effects of one mana-induced effect from the target ( i.e. the ability to breathe water as granted by a waterbreathing potion, or being jinxed with ill-timed hiccups ). it requires knowledge of the spell, and attempting to purify such an effect without such often leads to disastrous side effects.
name of scroll: redirect (bas. ? ) affinity: purification description: instead of reverting mana flow back into its natural state, a purifier is able to give it a nudge in another direction, should purification prove too arduous a task, or as a temporary measure. while fledglings are unlikely to do more than alter the flow of mana through an enchanted object for a few seconds at mst, more advanced users are able to withstand the continual strain of redirecting mana for a more significant period of time, channeling it into an easier path for them to decipher and purify.
name of scroll: reflect (adv.) affinity: purification description: an experienced purifier is, to some extent, redirect and reflect a spell back towards its origin by affecting the flow of the mana. its accuracy, along with the strength of the spell a witch is able to redirect increases with witch rank and level, and typically requires great concentration and knowledge of how such a spell works. typically a defensive mechanism, or rather useful should the witch attempt to disarm any explosive runic arrays.
name of scroll: storage arrays affinity: runescripting description: Perhaps one of, if not the most useful types runic arrays to have been invented, a storage array essentially creates a pocket space where objects can be stored, and also acts as a key to 'unlock' the pocket space to retrieve said items. The standardised storage array - which is generally the only storage array that can be bought and used by non-runescripters - can only store a limited amount of objects and is activated via channeling of mana through the array; the pocket space is specifically keyed into the array, meaning that each array creates its own separate pocket space, and if said array is destroyed, there is almost no way of retrieving the stored items. Runescripters, however, almost always prefer to design their own type of storage array due to the limitations of the standardised ones, and can play around with elements like expanding the pocket space, recalling specific items as opposed to everything in the pocket space, keying the space to specific people, creating separate unique keys so that items can be retrieved even if the storage array is destroyed, etc - dependent on experience and creativity of course.
name of scroll: 100 most useful runes, scroll #2: uruz affinity: runescripting description: Uruz, meaning 'Aurochs', commonly called the 'healing rune' or the 'life rune', is associated with vitality, strength, physicality, healing, and life force. It is typically included in arrays centered around healing, arrays affecting the body or 'life force', or giving life and strength, and is also excellent as a supporting rune for boosting the effects of other focus runes. By itself, its most common usage lies in the healing, or speading up of healing, of wounds - the most commonly used method being to draw an array in blood over the wound, or to inscribe the array on bandages which are then wrapped around the wound, though of course there are other methods. Another usage, though somewhat less popular, is to give someone a boost in energy or vitality.
name of scroll: an in-depth look, scroll #2: uruz affinity: runescripting description: Though Uruz does not have a standout secondary definition, the secondary association of physical strength and speed, power, force, stamina, and ferocity is distinct enough from it's primary associations to warrant a separate inclusion. The verse for this association is 'the aurochs is proud and has great horns; / it is a very savage beast and fights with its horns; / a great ranger of the moors, / it is a creature of mettle'. This secondary connotation is typically included in offensive arrays, arrays centered around the body, and augmenting the physical/material. By itself, its most common usage lies in a boost of physical strength, speed, stamina, or fertility.
name of scroll: reversing runes, scroll #2: uruz affinity: runescripting description: Reversing Uruz typically alters it to mean 'Shower', thus associating it with weakness, degradation, misdirected force, sickness, and ruin, with the verse 'lamentation of the clouds / and ruin of the hay-harvest / and abomination of the shepherd', but also, though more rarely, associations with water, veils, natural forces, and the weather. It is typically used in arrays centered around weakening something - be it the body or other spells, arrays centered around water, and can be included as a limiter for destructive arrays. By itself, its most common usage lies in the degradation of spells, or the creation of water.
name of scroll: runescripting skill: multi-layered linking affinity: runescripting description: Though arrays centered around a single focus rune can be devastating in power if used correctly, the true strength of runescripting lies in the versatility of linking multiple different focus runes together. For example, one might combine the fire of Kenaz with the destructive force of Hagalaz to create a firestorm. Beginner runescripters may only be able to link two or three focus runes together, but a master runescripter is limited only by their creativity.
name of scroll: Deadric Summoning: Flame Atronach history: Deadric Summoning by Silas Mourelli was written roughly a hundred years ago. It’s a grimoire that’s been coveted by summoners since it’s release date, as it simplifies the concept of the summoning if atronachs. Though the actual Grimoire has only been published once, the pages are still collected and turned into scrolls to this day. Rumor has it there were far more many atronachs in this Grimoire, but since Mourelli’s death this was one of five pages found and copied from the book. affinity: Summoning description: An atronach, in general, is a being made of a single, pure, substance. They are made up of what would normally be inanimate material, and they appear to be humanoid in form. Atronachs generally move by walking or hovering. They are believed to be moderately intelligent and act as bodyguards for the summoners who conjure them. They are known mostly for use in battle where they attack their summoners enemies, but are relatively docile when there is no one who is an immediate threat. Because of this there is a large debate on whether or not atronachs can be used in studies. A flame atronach is entirely made of fire, and can use such powers to their ability. They are weak to ice and water though are known for a bit of a temper and attitude when dealing with human beings. Their most common attacks involve the use of direct flame spurts and fireballs. They can be in effect for upwards of forty minutes, though are a constant drain on a summoner's mana due to their slightly temperamental nature. modification permission: Yes image: s26.postimg.org/3xoek9tax/Flame_Atronach.png

name of scroll: Book of John Dee: Change of Matter history: A collection of the works of a long-dead but still revered witch, John Dee. It was said that the man had conducted many research attempts on the secrets of Eternal Youth and the Philosopher's Stone. However, a fact less known to the public is the dark and at many times illegal experiments he had run during his time to achieve the fame. affinity: Alchemy description: With a drop of this potion, any matter can be changed from solid to liquid to gas or vice-versa, the effects, however, are not permanent. EVERHART’S ELIXIRS. history: blurring the line between augmentation and alchemy, everhart has somewhat of a reputation as a bold experimenter. his elixirs typically revolve around the concept of enhancing the attributes of a witch, but his most reputable works revolve around elemental enhancement. they’re less popular among inexperienced witches, probably because careless usage has severely harmful side effects.
name of scroll: everhart’s elixirs #1: flask of strength description: when ingested by the witch, it enhances their overall strength considerably, allowing them to perform feats otherwise thought of as unlikely. caution is advised when using this: the witch’s body has not physically strengthened enough to sustain the effort for extended periods of time. careless usage typically nets strains or broken bones, though experienced witches can sustain its effects for notably longer.
name of scroll: everhart’s elixirs #2: flask of endurance description: when ingested by the witch, it enhances their overall pain tolerance considerably, pushing themselves to perform feats otherwise thought of as unlikely. like with the rest, caution is advised when using this: while the witch may not feel the strain of pushing themselves that far, they are likely to feel its effects as soon as the elixir wears off. inexperienced witches typically injure themselves far more than experienced users who know where their limits are.
name of scroll: everhart’s elixirs #3: flask of sensing description: when ingested by the witch, it enhances their five senses of taste, sight, touch, smell, and hearing, allowing them to perceive things that otherwise might go unnoticed. inexperienced witches are unlikely to achieve anything extraordinary, while experienced witches can typically stretch their senses much farther, though tend to be limited and focus on certain senses, such as sight, or hearing. typically, witches may be overstimulated, and suffer sensory overload, and even severe headaches after prolonged use. with experience, witches can better control the concentration of the elixir to lessen such repercussions.
name of scroll: everhart’s elixirs #4: flask of speed description: when ingested by the witch, this sends the witch into a heightened state of remarkable speed, allowing them to move much faster than their normal speed, though not to any superhuman extent. while straightforward, this elixir unfortunately does not cater to the dexterity nor reaction time of the witch -- expect plenty of crashes, until you get more experienced. cautious use is advised, as careless usage may lead to muscle damage, particularly in one’s legs.
name of scroll: everhart’s elixirs #5: flask of frost description: one of everhart’s signature creations; when ingested, this allows the witch to form an icy armor across their skin that lasts only momentarily before dissipating, typically for defensive purposes. inexperienced users typically cannot form a stable enough layer to cover themselves completely, with the ice commonly manifesting in patches across their arms, if any. experienced users have been known to almost completely encase themselves in this, forming a fairly effective protective layer against any attacks. it exists only for short bursts, enough to deter or deflect an attack, though prolonged usage will likely harm the witch themselves.
name of scroll: everhart’s elixirs #6: flask of flame description: this particular recipe almost didn’t make it to publication. when ingested, this allows the witch to encase themselves in flames that hover an inch or two off their skin momentarily before dissipating, typically for defensive purposes. inexperienced users typically have poor control over the flames and are limited to their hands at most, whereas some experienced users have been known to almost completely cloak themselves in a fiery armor. it exists only for short bursts, enough to deter or deflect an attack, though prolonged usage will likely harm the witch themselves.

name of scroll: CASTER’S SCROLLS, VOLUME 1: SCROLL 5 affinity: Summoning description: By designating a target spot on the ground, the witch can summon an outgrowth of vines from the ground that rapidly grows to entangle and entrap a target. It can only work when in an open space where natural earth is present, and the target location rumbles in warning a few seconds before the vines burst through. Beginners will find they have difficulty controlling the vines, whereas masters of this scroll have been said to delay entire armies - how much of an exaggeration such a claim is is not known precisely. Earthen natured witches will have greater ease with this scroll. As with all summoning, it uses up the mana of the witch. modification permission: yea

name of scroll: ! OF ELEMENTAL MASTERY: STORMCALLING affinity: Summoning description: Published only after her death, this hefty scrollbook was written by the famous witch Maescia Faye who was said to have mastered all the elements through her summoning skill. The preface states that beginner summoners should aim to master the Caster’s Scrolls scrollbook first before attempting the spells in Of Elemental Mastery, and that all summoners should be extremely cautious in their use of her spells due to their potentially devastating effects and the high drain on one’s mana. This scroll details how to summon a fierce thunderstorm - it can only be used outside where the sky is clearly visible. Inexperienced summoners may find it difficult to summon a strong storm without a lot of concentration, time, and moisture already in the air; it is rumoured, however, that Maescia Faye had once flooded an entire village with the rain from a storm summoned in clear weather that had raged for 3 days and 3 nights. Witches with a water element should find this scroll somewhat easier to attempt. modification permission: yea

The preface states that beginner summoners should aim to master the Caster’s Scrolls scrollbook first before attempting the spells in Of Elemental Mastery, and that all summoners should be extremely cautious in their use of her spells due to their potentially devastating effects and the high drain on one’s mana. A variation of Stormcalling, this scroll focuses on less on summoning a rainstorm and more on controlling the lightning generated within the thunderstorm. Though the storm will naturally produce lightning once summoned, witches can artificially encourage more bolts of lightning to occur. Considered more difficult than Stormcalling due to the mental discipline and control necessary to summon lightning strikes with any degree of precision, even experienced witches should find it challenging to direct more than a few bolts of lightning at a time. modification permission: yea

This scroll details how to summon and control a raging wildfire - the intensity and range of which depends on the skill of the witch. This scroll is somewhat different from the rest of the scrolls in this scrollbook in that it does not take as much mana, relatively speaking, to summon the wildfire - it is controlling it that is intensely difficult. More than a few summoners have been recorded as dying as a result of losing control of this spell, and it has been proven that the catalytic wildfire of Messanine that claimed thousands of lives was also caused by a summoner losing control. This scroll details how to summon a blanket of absolute darkness, a suffocating void with which no light seems to be able to pierce. Perhaps one of the less devastating scrolls in her scrollbook, this spell is actually far more psychologically damaging than the others as people caught in it seem to feel a sense of hopelessness and gloom. name of scroll: DIVINE INVOCATION, VOLUME 1: SOL’S BLESSING affinity: Summoning description: By summoning an aspect of the sun deity Sol, the caster is granted enhanced strength to one’s spells for the duration they are able to maintain the aspect of Sol. Fledglings may only be able to summon a weak blessing and only for a very short amount of time, whereas masters of this scroll can almost double their spell strength for a terrifying amount of time. It is noted that the stronger the blessing invoked, the more mana it drains - experienced summoners generally learn to specifically regulate the strength they desire to prolong the length of their maintained blessing. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: DIVINE INVOCATION, VOLUME 1: LUNAR LIGHT affinity: Summoning description: By summoning an aspect of the moon deity Lunar, the caster is granted enhanced intuition, memory, and mental processing ability for the duration they are able to maintain her aspect. Less mana draining than her more physical counterparts, Lunar Light is also a more difficult scroll to master as summoners can find it difficult to tell when they have succeeded in the invocation and to what extent. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: DIVINE INVOCATION, VOLUME 1: THE BOW OF DYXUNA affinity: Summoning description: By summoning an aspect of the deity of the exploration and the hunt, Dyxuna, the caster is granted enhanced speed for as long as they are able to maintain nir aspect - the strength and duration of the invocation dependant on the strength and experience of the summoner. Witches are advised to practice with this spell in friendly spars before attempting to use it in a combat situation as the speed boost can be intensely disorientating if one is not used to it. Some witches may also experience an itching feeling of wanderlust after the invocation fades. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: DIVINE INVOCATION, VOLUME 1: THE HEART OF YZOTAS affinity: Summoning description: By summoning an aspect of the deity of war, Yzotas, the caster is granted enhanced physical strength for as long as they are able to maintain his aspect - the strength and duration of the invocation dependant on the strength and experience of the summoner. Witches are advised to practice with this spell in friendly spars before attempting to use it in a combat situation as the strength boost can be intensely disorientating if one is not used to it. Witches may also experience a boost in aggression, which can be dangerous if unexpected. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: DIVINE INVOCATION, VOLUME 1: SELENITY’S MERCY affinity: Summoning description: By summoning an aspect of the moon deity Selenity, the caster summons a silver-white light around their hands that can heal physical wounds through contact. Beginner summoners will only be able to heal minor wounds such as cuts and bruises - though they can still ease the pain of more major wounds - but masters of this spell are said to be able to bring back someone from the brink of death. Regardless of rank, it is consistent that the more serious the wound, the more mana is expended. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: SKYWARD SUMMONING: WINGS OF AN ANGEL affinity: Summoning description: The caster summons a pair of giant luminous wings that grants the witch the power of flight. Fledgling witches will find it difficult to both maintain the wings for any amount of time and to manoeuvre with them, but experienced summoners may well seem like they were born to take to the air. The wings are incorporeal and offer no defensive benefits. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: SKYWARD SUMMONING: AVENGING SWORD affinity: Summoning description: The caster summons a flaming sword that can cut through most materials with insulting ease. It seems to give the bearer an aura of righteousness, and seems more effective than normal weapons against monsters. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: SKYWARD SUMMONING: LUMINARY affinity: Summoning description: The caster summons a halo of light above their head that grants them a protective aura that decreases incoming damage - the strength of which grows with a witch's skill and power. Summoning the halo costs very little mana, however if its protection is required, the mana drain will be directly correlated with the damage it deflects. Masters of this scroll may even be able to extend the protective field onto others. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: SKYWARD SUMMONING: HORN OF JUDGEMENT affinity: Summoning description: The caster summons a triumphant and ringing horn cry over the battlefield, granting strength, courage, and a greater sense of unity to one's allies and striking fear into the hearts of their enemies (note that the 'enemies' and 'allies' are relative to the caster's feelings - though an expert summoner would be able to specifically control who is effected in what way, more inexperienced summoners may find 'enemies' that they personally like also gaining strength). Against monsters, the sound of the horn can cause weaker ones to flee and stronger ones to become wary and defensive. The range and strength of effect of this scroll depends on the experience of the witch. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: SKYWARD SUMMONING: CHOIR OF HEAVEN affinity: Summoning description: The caster summons a beautiful melody, granting those who hear it a sense of peace, calm, and elevation of mental exhaustion and fatigue. Fledgling summoners are often are only able to effect a small radius and cannot selectively choose who this effects or doesn't effect, whereas master summoners have been known to calm entire riots. The strength of this scroll, too, is dependent on the skill of the witch. modification permission: yea
name of scroll: !! SKYWARD SUMMONING: ARCHANGELIC GRACE affinity: Summoning description: A scroll thought to be more theoretical than actually possible, this scroll details how to summon an archangel to superimpose itself over the summoner. This grants the summoner incredible power, strength, and speed, as well as an absolute conviction in themselves and their motives, purging them of all doubts and mental limitations so as to wield the might of an archangel. The user becomes absolutely calm and filled with perfect resolve - however the terrifying downside is that all the societal limitations, all the moral qualms that the user has are burned away in favour of this perfect conviction. Arguing with a summoner in such a state is all but futile, even injuries seem not to stop them - they become, as one scholar puts it, the temporary devoted leader of their own cult. When this scroll is used, the summoner's veins and eyes will burn gold. When the archangel fades, the caster often finds themselves exhausted and drained even if they didn't expend much mana, also experiencing a sense of great loss or emptiness. modification permission: yea
